When he died we moved as quickly as possible to vacate his office on the north shore and his storage unit. We contacted Guardian to make them aware that we were moving out and made plans to be out by October. The bill for the unit had already been paid through September. The very first week in October we moved everything out of the storage unit. The bill for October was supposed to be paid by the estate, so when management asked for payment during our move out I gave the contact number for a sibling who was the estate executor. The staff member on duty was rude and belligerent during what should have been a cordial phone call to the family of a 15+ year customer. They saw our access to and moving to our father's personal belongings and payment that was one business day late, per the terms of our father's contract, as a sign we were going to cheat them out of $70.00 for the month. On the same phone call they alleged that a renter for the unit was lined up and waiting for the unit. So the abrasive manager was attempting to convince us to sever our rental that day so they could start a new contract on the unit, effectively allowing them to collect a full month's rent on the same unit, twice. Though we paid our bill and completed our move out on October 4th, we informed them we will no longer need access on October 31st, 2011.

She's so helpful, very friendly and gracious, and fully knowledgeable about everything. She answered all my questions and showed me around. I would have given a gleaming 5 star if not for one small but important factor - the units are not the advertised size. I measured a 5x5 and discovered it's actually 4x5. I measured a 5x10 and discovered it's only 4.5x9.5. My advice is, come to look at the units in person, like I did, and bring a tape measure with you. Hopefully Public Storage will rectify the misleading measurements so that people are accurately informed about what they're paying for.

I would NEVER have gone with Extra Space had I realized that the increase would be so ridiculously high. When I called, the best they could do was a whole $5.00 discount which doesn't reduce it enough for me to want to keep it. Bait and switch pricing! That is absolutely not right! However, my major issue is that, since maybe around the beginning of the year, the company has not kept someone in the office during the office hours posted on the door. I have gone numerous times to pay my bill, only to find it locked & no one in the office. I have learned to call before I go (though I have forgotten a time or 2), but the answering service has not been given correct info often times, as they expected someone to be at the office during certain times, but when I have gone, there's still almost always been no one there!!!! I have found signs posted, stating early closing times, or later opening times the next day. But even with that info, the people who service the number provided for info have rarely been notified about the changes!! I'm *absolutely* *fed* *up* with this sloppy, shoddy, poor & usually nonexistent service!!!!!! I understand there's been employee changes, sicknesses, lack of enough people to be in every office location. But they have no excuse for not having the actual everyday times posted at the office & if something happens to require different hours, giving *specific* opening & closing times. But more importantly, they HAVE to take 2 minutes to call the answering service & informing them of the true times there will be someone there! I am now needing to pay my bill with cash. Just this week, I have called 4 times, been there 3 days & still not found anyone in the office to pay! I absolutely will NOT pay a late fee, if I am unable to get my payment processed before the due date!!!! I Don't Know what is causing such few employees. But they need to get their act together. This is the poorest customer service experience I have EVER experienced anywhere!

Beware!! Water damage and mold destroyed my belongings!! I…read morestored my belongings here for years while I traveled When I moved back and went to move them, most of my belongings had been destroyed with water damage and mold. There was standing water in several hallways running under the unit doors. I lost family heirlooms, furniture, electronics, art, books, photos, childhood memories, pretty much everything I owned. When I talked to the manager on duty she pretty much just said there was nothing she could do, no apologies, she could have cared less. She said that I should file a claim with the insurance they had me purchase when I rented that unit which was a dead end. Thousands of dollars to just throw it all away and have to start all over.
