In the last month I have tried 4 local Cuban places: Havana Rumba, Mi express cuban sueno, Havana Bakery and now Cuba Y Mas. Every place got 5 stars but I'll have to give this place 4 because of my Masas de Cerdo Frita. (fried pork) As much as I wanted to like my pork, it was so tough and dry, I just felt like they had been in the fryer too long. The seasoning was great and authentic so I can be somewhat forgiving. I also ordered beef empanadas which were on point, the beef mixture was good but the dough was even better. You get 4 per order. Last but not least I also ordered a fried Red Snapper. Yes I'm a pig and I ordered all this solo! Now this, I was very happy with as the fish was amazing. They also have a yellow rice which is the best I've had hands down. The plantains deserve a paragraph of their own. They had the perfect carmamelization on them and if I could just rate the plantains, they'd get 10 stars easily. Try some of their juices and smoothies as well, I ordered a mango pineapple juice which was more like a smoothie but you could tell it was fresh fruit! Love the ambience and music they have going as well.

This is my first at Cuba Y Mas. I had the ropa vieja and my mother had the Merluza Frita. Both were great!

My neighborhood go to spot for Cuban food. Casual environment. They offer a variety of Cuban dishes. I ordered the beef empanadas, mango milkshake and cuban tamal to go. My friend raves about their congris. They are worth a visit. The music playing is always great.

Ropa Vieja with beans and rice, smashed plantain, and yucca frita. YUM!

Leave it to my family to find a Latin store in Kentucky. My cousin had to have his Cuban coffee,…read morenot an espresso. Lol. Well, this place had most of the Cuban staples like croquetas and pastelitos. They took advantage of ordering lunch as well for the trip. They ordered a croqueta preparada and a rabo encendido (ox tail) and they were very much enjoyed. I had a pastelito de carne (meat turnover). It was not like the ones in Miami but I could not complain since I was just glad to have a taste of home. They also had all kinds of Latin produce and ingredients. It was not so busy when we came in but it was packed when we left therefore check times to get in and out faster.

First & Foremost: I will be returning to try the different items in their bakery case!…read more This is a grocery/restaurant. I came in on a Friday evening, less than an hour before they closed. Because of that, the food was a little limited, most of the items they had out were nearing the bottom, and they didn't have many things out. Because of the lack of lack of options I decided to get the cubano sandwich, the tres leches cake, & a drink. The sandwich was massive. I ate one half and saved the other to give to my husband. I wasn't the biggest fan of the ham they used, but my husband liked it all the same. I was a fan of the bread! Not sure how they made it so good and crispy, but it was amazing. The sandwich itself was just okay. The tres leches cake. I really loved the icing (the pink one). The cake was good but I don't think it was moist enough. It was a two tier cake so perhaps that's the reasoning. I got the small one (about $7) and it was easily enough for 4 decent size servings. Overall a cute little local place & I can't wait to go back for bread and other desserts!

We then moved onto the cochinita and the mushroom based tortilla. The cochinita was a good sized serving topped with an orange sauce. I enjoyed it pretty thoroughly and it was a pleasant surprise. My wife had the mushroom tortilla dish which the mushrooms themselves were good, but we noticed the tortilla felt as if it wasn't cooked all the way through and had a doughy taste to it still. The tortilla may have been too thick but either way it was slightly off putting. To drink we split a Jamaica with mint which was delicious and hydrating. It was mainly a mint leaf that added the slight mint flavor so it didn't over power the hibiscus. Would highly recommend. For a desert we had a Mexican tiramisu which was overall a great end to the overall food. Only negative was the mandarins slice on the top of the dessert was very tart which clashed with the sweetness of the dessert. The ambiance was decent and had low light setting which was nice, we personally did not like how close together the seats were as it made it seem like the just wanted to cram as many people into the area to maximize profits. Would be nice to have a bit more space. Speaking of profit, I do believe the dishes were solid but I truthfully don't think the prices are worth it. I understand the farm fresh is a huge part of it, but when you're selling 3 tacos for 25$ it's clear there's a specific group of people this is geared towards in addition to the part of town. This is the main reason I am giving it a 4/5. The service was exemplary and our server was on time, very polite and was amazing at giving recommendations. She was the one that recommended the starter. Overall would come here sporadically or for special occasions but would not make it a regular occurrence due to pricing.
