Super clean, great produce and meats. They have a lot of the gluten free and low carb specialty foods that I enjoy as well, big plus for me!

This place is wild and aptly named. They have so much ish. Lots of Asian stuff cause the owner is…read moreAsian and lots of Latin stuff cause.... yeah the clientele and area. The stuff is cheap. It ain't Manhattan prices. I dig that. The produce isn't the best, but they have everything you need. The seafood selection is oddly really good. And the butcher is really popular. They have a gigantic cold storage section. This is the go-to regular, family market. Go to Billy's if you tryna be fancy. This ain't the place to get like Walgreens stuff. You ain't gonna find contact solution and lotion for a good price. There's Duane Reade really close for that. Cheapest live lobsters I've ever seen. They don't taste the best I've ever had, but hell for $13 I'll take it. Cheapest bulk beer in the area as well. It's an overwhelming place to shop fyi. It feels like a zoo. Truly is a Bazaar.

This store is going downhill…read more Can't buy produce here (or the other FB on Gates) because they package fresh and rotten veggies together instead of letting you pick from loose. They don't even have a full complement of veggies in their produce section - for example, no bunched spinach today. Even with the expanded front of the store and added checkout lines, there is still almost always a 20 minute wait to get rung up because they never have enough registers open during peak hours. Also, i don't know why they moved the express lane to the far end of the store considering the old express registers near the entrance are literally never used anymore. Why have 20 registers if you never use more than 6 at a time? Still, it's better in most cases than the Gates Food Bazaar.

This store has an eclectic variety of shelf stable products, a Deli Dept. that has American, Italian, Polish cold cuts, and salads. The guys that slice the cold cuts are experts; each slice is evenly cut, and the way you asked. There is a separate meat market in the back, with an "Old-world" style butcher. Their produce section is amazing. It's the world wide selection of fresh produce, herbs, and vegetables that is truly amazing. Keep your Translator app open. Many of the cans & bottles are in the native language from the country where they are produced. The experience is akin to being in a market in another country. The staff somehow keeps the shelves and bins filled, actually know what they are handling, and they can answer a question. There's a navigator that keeps the check-out line moving. The prices on most items are very inexpensive, almost from 20 years ago and the quality is comparable to one of those upscale supermarkets.

They refuse to honor the prices listed on their own signs, and then make up excuses about why it's okay not to honor them. They have a number of misleading advertisements identifying products on sale, but they only stock those products in sizes/varieties that are not on sale. Stickers on deli products also don't match the prices. Vegetables are not only very hard to find, but the pricing is out of control. They charge 2-3x the market price for loose items and only offer fair market pricing if you buy in bulk. But the bulk veggies are half rotten by the time you buy them. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I will do the next best thing and report them to every state/city agency to investigate their deceptive advertising and scam-like behavior.

Beware of predatory towing at this supermarket !!…read more On Saturday, Sept. 6th, I parked my 2020 White Volkswagen in the supermarket lot and quickly ran next door to CVS to pick up my prescription before coming back to shop. When I returned less than 10 minutes later, my truck was gone. In disbelief, I asked the supermarket security guard if it had been towed--he told me to call the number posted on the signs. When I called, the tow driver admitted they had taken it and said it would take 15 minutes to bring it back. While I waited, a supermarket employee ran out to apologize, admitting they had my car towed and saying I should have told him in advance that I was running to the pharmacy. I've been shopping here for over 22 years--never once has that been required. When the driver finally arrived, I asked if he would return my car to the lot. He refused, saying he'd just drop it on Gates Ave so he could keep moving. To make matters worse, they only accepted cash (no cards unless you go to their office), so I had to withdraw $140 from the supermarket just to get my car back. There was no grace period--cars are clearly being watched so they can tow as soon as someone steps off the property. It's predatory, unprofessional, and exploitative. After more than two decades of loyal shopping, this incident cost them a customer for good. Bushwick residents: don't leave your car here if you need to quickly run to the bank, pharmacy, or anywhere else. You may come back to find it gone.
