Everything is very clean and everyone that works there are super nice including the life guards which are doing a great job keep everyone safe. We literally played football for hours in the sand it was so much fun we had 2 canopy set up and brought some food and drinks with us you can also grill there which is awesome Definitely will be doing that next time.

After the hike, I noticed the lock on my car door handle fell off and immediately sensed something wrong and checked my bag. They took hundreds of dollars in cash and all of my credit/debit cards. I have to take my car into the auto shop to get fixed as well. I was not aware of this trailhead being notorious for car break-ins. I was actually trying to hike Condor Peak Trailhead but couldn't find it and ended up at Trail Canyon. I had absolutely no cell signal so I couldn't even do a quick Google search on this trailhead. My first time going into a hike blind and I got robbed. I'm guessing the thieves camp out near the parking and scope out their victims. I parked right in front of the start of the trailhead. I will NOT be returning to this hike. Be careful, stay vigilant.

This hike was interesting, but for me it was definitely more difficult and a lot more dangerous…read morethan I expected. The first part of the trail, down to the creek and along the creek, was not too hard and actually pretty enjoyable. Crossing the creek several times was fun, and there were some nice shaded areas along the way. We also saw a California newt, which was really interesting -- but please do not touch them. Later, when we finally had internet again, we read that their skin produces a toxin, so it's best to admire them from a safe distance. The harder part starts after you climb above the creek. From there, the trail leading toward the waterfall becomes narrow and slippery, and on the right side there are steep drop-offs almost the entire way. The final descent to the waterfall was the biggest challenge for me. You have to go down along the rock with a rope for support, but honestly it did not look safe at all, so we decided not to go all the way down to the base of the waterfall. I would not bring children on this hike. Also, be prepared that the round trip can take around 3.5 hours depending on your pace. A few helpful things to know: * parking was along the road * there are no restrooms * tickets/permits need to be purchased in advance in a different place * internet service was very poor, so it's better to download your map ahead of time * there were not many people, which was nice The waterfall was full and rushing, and the views were beautiful, but personally I would not do this hike a second time.

We rode here for a birthday in 2024. I would not say these horses are for beginners - this was not…read morea safe or enjoyable ride. The horse I rode jumped from my leg brushing his belly, so I had to float my legs off his body the entire time. I'm not sure he was well enough to ride that day if his belly was that tender. The other horses did not get along and fought while on the trail. This led to one horse spooking/attacking another and caused my friend to fall. She had difficulty walking, but was asked to get back on the horse despite laying on the floor in pain. After she couldn't get on, we thought the guide would call for help. But we found out later that the guide simply called her coworker and told them she'd be late for her next ride. Are you kidding me? Someone gets hurt and your first thought is your next paycheck? Our friend had to continue on foot since the guide told us we could not get off to help her. I don't think she would've made it all the way. We were lucky to run into fire authorities that gave her a ride. The authorities clarified they were NOT contacted by the guide and they were there for a separate event. We took our friend to the ER ourselves to get a spinal scan which thankfully turned out with bruising only. Afterwards, we were not offered a refund. We get it, horses have bad days and are unpredictable. But there is no excuse for having a guide that is so severely untrained and unempathetic. In a real emergency, you do not want to be caught in the middle of a nowhere with no signal and a "guide" that doesn't even know how to call for help or care about you. She just sounded like she wanted it over with. Really horrified and disappointed by the negligence here.

Definitely not an easy hike -- tons of river crossings, climbing over rocks, and I was already dirty within the first 10 minutes. There were multiple moments where I questioned my life choices crossing cold water and trying not to slip. But man... once we got there, it made everything worth it. The views, the water, the whole experience felt unreal. It's one of those hikes that actually feels like an adventure instead of just a walk. Exhausting but so fun, and I'd 1000000% do it again.

Waterproof hiking shoes, trekking poles, plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, and an offline map are highly recommended. We arrived around 7:00 AM and were lucky to find parking. The lot closest to the trailhead only holds about 10-15 cars, so I highly recommend arriving early, especially on weekends. If it's full, you'll likely need to park across the street or along the nearby side streets. Download the offline map before you start. I used AllTrails, and it was a lifesaver. It's surprisingly easy to get off the trail despite the diamond trail markers on the rocks and the blue arrows along the route. Without the offline map, we most likely would have added a lot more time trying to find the correct path. There are multiple Punch Bowls along the trail. The largest one, with the famous natural rock slide, is about 4 miles from the trailhead. More than halfway through the hike, you'll encounter a steep incline. Reaching the rock slide also requires climbing over large rocks, so having good upper-body strength, balance, and proper footwear really helps, as it can get tricky getting to the other side. The only downside was seeing graffiti, litter, and even someone using a grill with an open fire along the trail, which is a serious fire hazard. It's heartbreaking to see such a beautiful place not being respected. I hope the National Forest continues to protect this area by enforcing fire restrictions, increasing recycling and trash facilities where appropriate, and encouraging visitors to leave no trace. This is truly a hidden gem that deserves to be preserved for future generations.

Water tumbles down an earthquake fault line. It's located 7 miles from the epicenter of the 1971 San Fernando Earthquake. The fault line is visible on the cliff face. The waterfall is 70ft tall and has two tiers. It's dry for most of the year so you're going to want to visit it after a good rain.
