We rented…read morethe "Eagle's Nest" (studio with ocean view) through Booking.com because we wanted the larger space and the view. It was expensive, but I wanted a romantic weekend, so I was willing to pay a little more. She did offer the much smaller "Romantica" room when we arrived so we wouldn't have to walk up all of the stairs which we declined. The "Eagle's Nest" is in a well-converted attic space. There are drawbacks due to the nature of the room, though (slanted roof lines made getting in and out of bed tricky.) The bed itself was comfortable, but she had a protective covering on it, which made it slippery. Since we had to climb in and out at the foot of the bed, it kept trying to slide off. Easy enough to just push it back in place, though. The futon was about as comfortable as any futon ever is, but there was a nice table in the room where we could play cards. I was disappointed that the refrigerator in the room didn't seem to work. The "ocean view" is actually a view of the harbor on an inlet through a small, attic window. If the view is what you're after, get a different room. For breakfast she made omelets to order served with toast, ham or sausage, and yogurt with fruit. There is parking on the street in front of the house, but also more parking in the back. Just ask Margaret and she'll help you find it.

Margaret (the proprietor) screwed us! Do NOT trust her. Ruined our weekend!…read more For our anniversary, we were looking forward to a 3-day romantic weekend at a B & B in Vancouver. After looking for something within our price-range and location, we booked through Expedia. I called Margaret to verify the room and she offered the room to us for less money if we went directly through her. She took our reservation on April 22, 2015, and also took a credit card to guarantee the room, sending us a confirmation on April 23, 2015. "...this is to confirm your reservation in " Ocean Breeze " for 3 consecutive nights starting July 3rd- July 6th ; name of the room is romantic " Eagles Nest suite " overlooking Vancouver Harbour / Cruiseships rate $ 199.00 CAD + 18 % local tax , full breakfast is included..." We arrived very late from California on Friday, July 3, 2015, and Margaret sold our room to another party - even though it was prepaid. She did NOT hold our room - selling it to another party because she could get a much higher rate during this busy weekend. She did move us, arbitrarily, to a company apartment she rents out. We got in so late, we did not have a moment to think. Unfortunately, the apartment is located 2 blocks from very active train tracks and a main transportation street with lots of traffic waking us about 6:30 AM. Good luck sleeping through the trains coming through! If you were looking for a romantic B & B - overlooking Vancouver Harbor and conveniently located providing walking access to the Seabus to downtown Vancouver, would you want an apartment 2 blocks from the train tracks overlooking a Chevron Station and 5 lanes of traffic in a commercial zone? Friday night, Margaret even said... "we could get our coffee at the gas station in the morning!" Margaret did all this, because she was greedy and could charge more for the room than what she agreed to in our reservation. If she did this to us, she has done this before and will do it again. Maybe to you...

I've gotten into the habit of renting an apartment for a few weeks while on vacation and I'm always looking for interesting, comfortable, and livable places to stay and Kitsilano suites fit the bill perfectly and exceeded my expectations. There are four suites of varying size in this lovely restored historic home in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver. We stayed in the smaller upstairs studio, 202. Calling a studio is not giving it enough credit. It has more space than some apartments I've lived in! Everything is thoughtfully arranged and set up for ensure you have everything you need, no matter if you are staying one or two days or a month. The kitchen is better equipped than most homes and you can really cook up a storm in there, or just relax with some great wine, cheese and smoked salmon on the deck/porch out the back of the unit (there are great places within walking distance to buy things to eat in or dine out). Lots of thoughtful touches from the art, to the wifi, to the linens, to the slow closing cabinet doors so when you are cooking up a three course meal in the kitchen at 11:00 PM you won't disturb the other people staying here. Only two things to be aware of, if you have mobility issues you probably will have trouble climbing out of the great claw footed tube and the bed in 202 is low to the ground, but the other units might serve you better. Also, you can usually hear what is going on in the hall/stairs, so you just have to be respectful of the other guests and not go crazy when you come in late. Just ask Mark if you have any concerns. Speaking of Mark, he is the owner, and a great host. Very helpful and professional from the booking to checking in to making sure we have all we needed, or giving suggestions of things in town. Plus he is just a plain nice guy! I loved staying in his place and he is a great representative of the spirt of Vancouver. This was a perfect area of town to stay in as well. Quiet and homey but with plenty to do on 4th or on Broadway, just short walks away. We walked to many places in Vancouver, as there are tons of things to do in a 3-4 mile radius. Heck, downtown is only a 40 minute walk away! And if you are not a walker, the bus system in Vancouver is great and easy. There are a number of buses that stop near the suites that made getting around town a snap. Plus, the airport is only 20 minutes away by taxi (at least at 5:00 am!) so when it is time to leave it is a snap to get there. Next time you are in Vancouver, try Kitsialno Suites instead of a hotel. It will make your trip just that much more comfortable and memorable.

Stanley Park has Brewery that is within 5 minute walking distance from the Inn. #2: free parking spaces (3) in the back if space is available. must request ahead of time. #3: very romantic, cozy setting with lots of furnishings to go with name like English Bay Inn. Had port wine with several glasses to use. #4: Yes, the breakfast and the friendly staff serving you in the morning. The staff is very personable and paid attention to details. We just checked out, and during this time of the year (May) there are beautiful flower blooms and weather to go with the charming house. My parents booked unit 6, the attic. My husband, son, my brother and I had unit 5, the basement. For Unit 6, you enter into a seating area, then go up another flight of stairs to another small seating area, the bed area and a pretty good sized bathroom. Our basement until (in photos) has a small kitchen, small dining room, and two sleeping areas. My brother was with us just one night so he took the back bedroom, and when he left our son took the bedroom. With either situation the basement was enough room for us. If you are visiting with a child, I'd recommend booking the basement to keep the rest of the house quiet for the other guests. The only downside for the basement unit is that you don't get the wonderful breakfast with it. My parents and my husband and I switched off going to breakfast on different mornings since the attic unit does include breakfast. They thoroughly enjoyed their omelet breakfast and declared that we'll enjoy our turn the next day - and we did enjoy it this morning! We had muffins, fruit salad, and delicious Eggs Benedict with corned beef, small salad, sprouts and grilled tomatoes. A gentleman sitting in front of me had the omelets the day before and asked for fruit and cereal instead today, and they happily supplied him with what he asked for. The house is obviously an older house. It's nothing like staying at a brand new five star hotel, but you can say that's all part of the charm of it. When I visit Vancouver again, I plan to book with them again as long as they have availability. The Inn is also very nicely located. You can walk a short block down to the bay and take a nice walk one way to Stanley Park (the entrance is one block north), or walk south to a popular beach and restaurant area. If you are driving, make sure to request a reserved parking space (there are only 3). I'm a fan, and if you enjoy character and supporting small quality businesses with caretakers who want to make your trip enjoyable, book with them!

This is a major safety issue for someone 74 years old; we could not shower for the remaining nights during the stay. On the day of our anniversary, I was attacked in the lobby of this sick hotel, by one of their violent guests, directly in front of the hotel receptionist. When I requested that they call the police (RCMP), they refused and did nothing. In all my years as a professional safety engineer, I have never seen such a worn out, dangerous, and useless accommodation. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Aside from that, you're literally atop the Seabus terminal so you can get to downtown directly and quickly along with the pleasant ride that comes with it. You also have the market below, and though the shops IMO aren't much of a draw, it gives you pretty good food choices. Aside from the pluses above, I believe most or even all of the rooms have a view of the water - and if you're near the back you overlook downtown as well. The rooms themselves are nothing special and don't stand out at all, but they're serviceable. Contrary to what some reviews say, there is in fact a fitness room here, but it is small. It does have a small restaurant and I'd recommend looking into the packages which include breakfast and even 2-1 passes with local attractions as you'll save if you're travelling with at least another person. There's an argument given the prime location of this place that a really nice hotel could open up here and thrive. But as long as the Quay hotel sits here, don't expect much of a fancy stay - you do at least benefit from much better location, convenience and views than comparable 3 star hotels.

Thank goodness it was on the cooler side because our room had no air conditioning, and we had to MacGyver a fan in the propped open window to get the cool air in. Worked like a charm! The bed was comfortable if you already have metal rods in your back, and the breakfast made me believe Canada just doesn't believe in meat in the morning. I believe in the power of the pig. It's what's for breakfast! They really only had two options: eggs or pancakes, but there was fresh-made baked goods which were a nice touch. One turn off is they only serve breakfast from 8:00-10:00 so we fit a run in before and by that point a few people had eaten and left. The family who runs the place is friendly, but always seems a bit flustered. There was a direct outside door to the basement suite which turned out to be quite an advantage. We didn't know the area well, and decided to bring all our daughter's possessions inside for safe keeping. Breakfast was okay, though the breakfast room can get quite packed and there are no vegan options (our daughter is vegan). Finally, Windsor Guest House was a nice little walk to the Broadway-City Hall train station and to the B-line which is the main bus that goes to UBC. I decided to give 3 stars based on the mouse that we saw come in under the door. We chased it out and blocked the crack after that episode.

The day time staff were really lovely and kind. They stored our bags for a late departure, left very good instructions for a late arrival, no complaints there. The decor is tired and old. We booked two rooms (we were in the Master Suite on the ground floor and the Penthouse, despite booking 8 months in advance and asking to be on the upper floor to be closer to our kids on the top floor), one with A/C, the other without. The one without (Master Suite) was fine the first night, sweltering the remaining two. A standing fan in the room was insufficient and cut out if you went above 2nd speed. Bathroom is one step above a hostel bathroom with a 1970s spigot, no working fan either and the beds were saggy. For what we paid, this hotel really could use some sprucing up. Perhaps the other rooms are better. The master suite was not great. The Penthouse was better. The evening staff person had a 1 1/2 hour personal phone call on speakerphone reverberating throughout the house. We couldn't enjoy the common area at all because of her loud, lengthy conversation. Not the sort of B&B experience we've come to expect. A quibble about the breakfast. You have to pre-order which is totally fine, but the one day when we really needed to leave early, the breakfast didn't come to us for 45 minutes after sitting. It threw off our visit to the suspension bridge, putting us on a bus an hour later than desired and we were stuck with huge crowds. We ended up not even having the breakfast at the hotel the next day as we didn't want to have a repeat...we far preferred our wonderful coffee and breakfast at 49 parallel roasters, which I recommend too. All in all, would we do it again? If you get a spruced up room, perhaps. If you are visiting outside of the hotter times of year, sure. But avoid the master suite and if you have plans that are on the early side, make sure to let them know that you are hoping for an on time breakfast.
