Small and cute, this was our base when roaming the Glacier area…read more The owner was nice to work with and even came by to visit but we were gone. There are horses, chickens, an early rising rooster (!), and turkey next door which add to the rural flavor. We enjoyed an evening drink on the outside deck. He has comfortable living room sofas and chairs. Even though the beds were pretty and comfortable, the linens were a thin, polyester blend which greatly detracted from the rest of the nicely planned items. He has a propane BBQ and the minimum kitchen essentials. The worst part of the place was the enormously LOUD TRAINS. This house is less than a block from the main line and several times throughout the day and night it sounds as if they're coming through the deck !! Bringing EARPLUGS is an absolute necessity. None of us got any sleep the first night there. After we found a store that sold foam earplugs, sleeping in the plastic sheets was bearable.

Stayed here in August when we went to Glacier National Park and really enjoyed it…read more The owner (John) was very responsive and helpful when we booked through vrbo.com. The directions given were easy and my GPS had no problem finding the address. While the kitchen doesn't have a dishwasher, it's decently sized given the size of the house and we were able to prepare some very solid meals after visiting a local grocery store over in Columbia Falls. The bedrooms are not huge but the queen-sized beds are very comfortable. The linens must have been recently upgraded because they didn't feel like polyester at all. I've stayed at plenty of Westins and W Hotels and this bed was just as comfortable in its own rustic Montana way. Yes, the railroad is about 300 feet from the house but bring earplugs and you'll be fine. The living room is awesome. Satellite TV and free Wifi, and a couple of super comfortable couches. The location is impressive. 5 minutes to the west entrance of Glacier National Park (but leave early in the AM to avoid the lineup of cars trying to get in!). You're walking distance from a distillery as well as a very good pizza restaurant; both of which we sampled and enjoyed.

The whole property is so well kept, and the cabin itself had all the amenities you could need. Lots of special, unexpected touches - like ingredients for making s'mores at the nightly campfire. One night, they put up a big screen and played a kid-friendly movie. Also, wifi was great everywhere on the property. Plenty to do nearby - hiking trails, Whitefish, Glacier National Park (of course). We picked huckleberries! Can't wait to go back!

The innkeepers, Hunter and Debbie, are very friendly, welcoming and helpful and lastly the food was delicious. We stayed in Lani's room - which is on the second floor and is actually next to the kitchen. The room was very cute but you may hear kitchen noise as breakfast is being made, this didn't bother us, but if you are a light sleeper you may want to book one of the rooms on the third floor. Also, the inn has bear spray for rent for $5 a day - this is a bargain if you are only going to be hiking in the park a couple of days and don't want to fork out $50 to buy a can.

Shayla, our host, texted us ahead of time to make sure we were all set for a smooth check-in. That small gesture alone made us feel genuinely cared for. Each day, Shayla prepared the most delicious homemade baked goods, which made us feel like we were at a home away from home. Since we planned to head to Glacier National Park early each day, she kindly packed to-go breakfasts for us--always thoughtful, fresh, and satisfying. On the mornings we stayed in, she served beautiful homemade breakfasts that were just as delicious. The extra touches throughout the lodge made our stay even more special--the self-serve charcuterie, fresh fruit, and beverages were such a nice bonus. The lodge itself was peaceful and quiet, which we really appreciated. We stayed for five nights and can confidently say this was one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. They even serve up a homecooked breakfast every morning (tasty quiche varieties and the best waffles you'll ever have - recommend selecting the bananas/chocolate chips/nuts option). The inn will even let you check out bear spray at the front desk for when you head into Glacier National Park. The only small thing I'd change - there are signs in the room that you can hang on your door that say "service please," and we tried doing that for a few days without success before asking for service at the front desk. If you're staying for a week, make sure to stop by the front desk and ask for someone to clean the room a few times, since it's not automatic.
