We threw down at @crystals_cafe2420 this past Sunday So happy we ventured over here after not being able to wait over at @pancakejoes_sa (next time) Because this spot is so big, we were able to walk right in and grab a table. This is a no frills, lick your plate kind of spot. Always my favorite kind! The Steak & Huevos Rancheros plate wasMy was cooked just right and topped with a killer salsa. I got my over easy so the steak could take a swim in the married concoction of egg & salsa and then get all wrapped up nice and warm in a fresh tortilla! It was perfect, just perfect. Wifey loved her Tocino y Huevos Rancheros. The bacon used is what you hope to get with an order, substantial and delicious. She too ordered over easy so her bacon could take a dip in the sauce of deliciousness. My eldest was wow'd by his huge plate of pancakes They were super fluffy and sweet. Only item that needed a box. Truly a huge portion! My two youngest each had over easy eggs (so proud of them lol) with toast and...bacon! I've been a customer for years and lately the service has been horrible . I'm guessing since it's a family owned business the kids who are waitressing the restaurant feel as if they do not need to attend tables. Food has no flavor and undercooked. A mom and pop cafe of over twenty years. Recommended for breakfast. If the chilequilas are prepared the way I like them I know it is a good place to eat. Unfortunately the chips were soggy and the cheese that was on top not melted. Good flavor, but not my way The service was good and coffee delicious. I will give it a try another time. read more

Located south of Woodlawn on Zarzamora. Thankful for the info it's cash only but wish I would have seen it before going in. Thankful ATM across the street with a $2.75 charge. But for some business I guess even 4 square is still a little steep and cash does help keep prices down as I've seen in some places. And the prices here are reasonable and you do get a lot. The coffee is good. Not burnt but a lil dark. The creamer is liquid non-dairy. They have menudo and barbacoa available on the weekends only. We tried both and it was all delicious. They do have homemade flour tortillas that are delicious. The corn tortilla is regular plain corn The eggs they cooked to how you specify. Staff was super sweet and kind. I liked it and will definitely be back here again. I would recommend them to friends. read more

Waitress are indiferente and it took 3 minutes to get menues... should have left there... but i wanted to give them a chance,,,, orderd huevos rancheros the forgot the ranchero sauce..when they brough it out it had no real taste.My wife orderd 2 tacos only 1 came out, so we requested the second taco... it never came out. Standard locally owned west side taqueria that quickly serves inexpensive good tacos. The tortillas are good and held the fillings in very well. They were not as tasty as some other places, but were above average for the area. The egg bean and cheese taco was very good. The eggs were cooked nicely, but the beans were room temp then sprinkled with cold-ish cheese, which was not melted. The chicharron taco was messy and delicious. Nice chunks of meat along with a nice tomato based sauce. The salsa quemada on the table was very good. It complemented the tacos well! Didn't see the typically red or green salsa, but they were not missed. The interior is run down and bare, even for a Mexican restaurant on the west side. Not a lot of decorations or lively colors. I can see why local residents like the food, but I wouldn't go out if my way for it. read more

The salsa was delicious. It's kinda spicy but so good. I poured it on everything. I got the puffy taco lunch combo. Husband got the taco plate which looked more like enchiladas. I went there in the afternoon for some beef soup (caldo). The soup arrived with the proper heat temperature one would expect. The soup was mostly carrots, one small piece of corn, one small potato, and two small pieces of beef (pot roast type). The rice can separate in a small dish with two slices of lime. The rice was greasy and clumped together like mashed potatoes. The tortillas were factory made and not home made. The broth was tasty but overall I was not impressed. It appears that the place is roomy enough to pack in the early breakfast crowds but I wonder where they park because there is only a sparse amount of parking slots in the front of the business. My family and church acquaintances have frequented this little café for years. It is small, but clean, and the food is always piping hot. Good coffee! My two favorites: cheese enchiladas and their AMAZING salsa. I don't know if this is the right name for it, but I think one might refer to it as Salsa de Fuego, being that it is dark, earthy and smoky. If I could, I would buy a bottle of it just to use at home. Yum! read more
