Review Highlights - Crystal Theatre

“It is not "luxurious," but is an excellent example of the single screen, small town theaters that have practically vanished in the U.”

Tru Vu Drive In Theatre - Just about to start!

What a fun, cool, nostalgic place to go. My hubs and I have been married for 38 years...and we've…read morenever gone to a drive-in in all of that time. Not since we were in high school...and that was with different dates. lol We were celebrating my birthday weekend and saw that Delta had this theater. We were giddy! They were showing Empire Strikes Back...which happens to be my husband's favorite Star Wars movie (yes, I was a good wife and gave in...but it was no sacrifice, believe me. I love the movie, too!) The very coolest thing was that, now and then during the evening, he and I would see shooting stars in the sky...plus, the very starry night of that dry area made the screen feel like it had no edge when the "outer space" scenes were happening. It was rather surreal, but a total blast! We felt like teenagers! The only problem with us particularly was, the speaker they provided cut in and out a lot during the movie. Yes, you have a radio station that you can tune into to get the audio, but our newer keyless, push-button-started car would power down after a bit to save the battery. So we tried to rely just on the drive-in speaker (which was also cool, cuz it added to the experience.) When the hubs ran back to the snack bar to let them know about the speaker, they gave us a little portable am/fm radio to use...and it was perfect!! (Gotta give them a valid I.D. in order for them to let you use the radio.) Overall, it was a BLAST!! And it was well attended as well...probably about 50 cars. Our movie started at 7:45 pm, but the gates opened at 7. When we got there, we were third in line and cars started lining up behind us quite soon thereafter. So if you want your pick of spots, get there a little bit before the gate opens. And be nice to the ticket seller lady...she kinda acts like she's been working there these many decades the theater has been open. :-)

The nostalgia alone is worth going! We went last night for the first time since the new owners took…read moreover. The popcorn was good and the drinks of course and candy... We didn't particularly like the hamburgers or the pizza. I wish they would fix the speakers because we couldn't get the app to work and I couldn't get the radio station to come in on my phone. We didn't turn on the radio in the truck because it didn't have a back window and we didn't know if we could hear it. We should've checked out a radio from the concession stand to use, but we didn't. But that is a really cool option that they have. The prices are great, and all of the staff members were super friendly and helpful.

This theater has gone downhill so much over the last couple of years. It used to be a great place…read moreto go, but now it's always a gamble whether you'll actually have a good experience. Most of the time there are only one or two people working the counter, and many of the employees come across as rude, uninterested teenagers with little customer service. There have been multiple times we've arrived for the last showing only to find the concession stand already closed or closing, or they've completely run out of popcorn. The biggest issue is that the posted showtimes are unreliable. Twice we've checked the movie times online, arrived on time, and been told the movie had already started because "the times online are wrong." That's completely unacceptable. Today was the third time in the last year that we showed up for the 8:45 p.m. showing, only to find the entire theater closed. The lights were off, trash was scattered all over the outside, and there wasn't a single employee in sight. The days of the Rifle movie theater being a dependable, enjoyable place are gone. It's become a hit-or-miss experience every single time. This theater desperately needs consistent management on-site, accurate showtimes, and mature, responsible employees who actually care about providing good customer service. It's disappointing to see what this place has become.

Chasing Rabbits? More like Chasing Dessert, Dignity, and Fresh Air…read more We came to a rabbit-themed restaurant, and somehow they did not have carrot cake. That is like going to Red Lobster and being told they are out of seafood. Carrots are literally the rabbit's entire brand. Absolutely unserious behavior. Then we ordered a dessert drink that supposedly came with bunny ears. It arrived earless. At this point, the rabbits weren't the only things being chased..... Just when we thought the evening couldn't get stranger, someone walked past our table and crop-dusted us with the confidence of a person who had diplomatic immunity. I cannot prove it was the hostess, but spiritually, I believe it was the hostess. The breeze had authority. The atmosphere was cool, the concept was fun, and the experience was unforgettable, primarily because our bodies may retain the scent forever. No carrot cake. No bunny ears. Mystery gas attack.
