I…read moreshould have known when I walked through the door and was met with a wall of cigarette smoke and computer screens from the 90's. The owner told me he would take a look at my computer and I didn't here from him for 5 days. When I called to check the status he told me he didn't even have the equipment to fix a windows 8 computer and that he took MY hard drive out and put it into another customers computer because he only operates on Windows XP which is 3 generations old. After telling me that my laptop was essentially destroyed, he then tried to tell me that trying isn't free and that I owed him $300 for the "work and time" he put into it. When I asked him how he came up with that price he told me that he worked on it for 16 hours. I then asked how much of that was wait time, which he specifically told me on the phone he does not charge for, he then told me only 2/3 of that was wait time which is why he was only going to charge me $100. When I asked for an explanation of services and told him that I had consulted with another repair man in Gainesville who said he could ACTUALLY repair it for a cheaper price, he told me that I "dont understand whats wrong with the computer or else I wouldn't have dropped it off here." When I asked if I could pay him then pay the other tech to actually repair it, show him the receipt of the repair and the finished product and receive my money back, he said "maybe, depends on my mood that day." I tried explaining how unethical it is to charge someone for services unrendered, especially when his knowledge of the product was the main reason he could not deliver those services. He told me "how I run my business is my business." When trying to figure out how to pay $100 for a non-repair he told me to "put on my sad face and ask my parents for money." I have never been so disgusted with a so called business man in my life. He told me he was holding two other peoples laptops that also couldnt pay for the exact same reason. I sent my dad in there the next day to pick it up, which he scoffed at, and he witnessed someone in line before him, complaining to the owner about the EXACT same scam he pulled on us. Needless to say, anyone who bases their price on "the attitude of the customer when they come in" (this is a direct quote from him) does not know how to provide a satisfactory product at a reasonable price.
