Whether you're the type to stop in, oh- once a decade or so, or if you make it a handful of times a year, OR if you're a "real one," with your own skates to boot, you'll have a good time. The music varies from old to new, but is never off-putting. Still, you'll see a handful bopping to their own beats (those are the "real ones"). It's never uncomfortably crowded either. And unless you're a total wreck on skates (inline and roller are available, by the way), you'll be able to glide in and out of traffic, around toddlers with skate buddies, and never feel like you have to reign yourself in. They've got games. Arcade games, yeah, but that's not what I'm talking about. The four corners game, age-bracketed races, reverse skating, and cha-cha sliding on skates. Stay long enough and you'll be treated to at least one of these interesting breaks. The food is fine, the amenities are fine. All that really matters is the big wooden floor, and that sucker is a smooth ride.

Although the mission statement on your website emphasizes providing a safe environment, my…read moreexperience today was anything but that. My 8-year-old was surrounded by a group of unsupervised 13-year-olds who tripped him and struck him in the back of the head. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, I was told that drop-offs are permitted, and no action was taken to remove the older children involved. Despite three witnesses confirming what happened, staff chose to side with the teens, accepting their explanation that it was an "accident." When the manager confronted the group, I saw them laughing, which gave me the clear impression that the seriousness of the situation was not acknowledged. Additionally, there seems to be a general lack of enforcement when it comes to the rules on the skating floor. At times, it feels like skating at Xtreme Wheels is a free-for-all. Families are trying to enjoy their time, but they're often sharing the space with unsupervised kids running around without accountability. I believe that if floor rules were more consistently enforced, it would create a safer and more enjoyable environment--especially for families with younger children.

Upon approaching the door the area is clean and clear of any hazards. Once you walk into the building you are in an open bright colored room with information posted, and it appears your will need to be buzzed into the next set of doors. Upon entering into the rink area to the right in an area to purchase skates and/or skate accessories and next to that is the concessions. Just a couple of steps from the concessions is the washrooms. Then coming back there are tables and just past those is the right. Dj booth is in the front as well. Going straight through the door there are games and moving past those is the prize area and skate rental area. The beverages are over $3.00 and some change each, but they sell the pitcher for a little over $6.00. They offer pizza and snacks as well. We ordered the nachos and fries. The nachos which were good, but those fries, they were so good. This group rented the whole place to enjoy their birthday and is was very nice. Employees were both very kind and fast. They use great colors, bright. Makes it fun!

COVID has been a little tricky for hockey, but Canlan is killing it with their protocols…read more We've been at the arena for about five years and even through it's ownership change, they continue to surprise us with the level of attention and courtesy they provide. Coach Dennis is doing a great job of keeping our families up-to-date with options and we were super excited to see Coach John and Coach Vince back on the ice! If you're looking for coaches who remember your kids names and individualize their progress and assessment... this is the place. From a cost standpoint, this club is a little more expensive than some in neighboring towns, but the facilities and coaches are worth the added expense. For those concerned about COVID protocol, all the coaches wear masks on the ice and there is no player contact for the squirt and mite skill sessions. Right now, there's no in-house league, which is understandable, but sad. We hope that there will be progress toward that end in the future. I highly recommend this arena, especially for your youngsters just starting out.

Updated Review A 3…read morerink facility with plenty of parking. There is also a bar/grill located in the building. The spectator seating area is very cold and it is metal bench seating. The biggest complaint is the walls between rinks do not go all the way up to the ceiling so you can hear music and referee whistles from other rinks.

Bella's Bouncies Skate On Grand - The little rink in the corner.

As mentioned in previous posts, Skate on Grand is under new ownership. I've been skating at the…read morerink twice with my daughter. The rink is a bit on the small side, but great for kids. They have a small arcade and an affordable concession stand. They also host birthday parties. There are lockers available for $0.25. The staff is alway pleasant and accommodating. Just a couple of issues that I hope they will start to resolve as the business matures. (1) the rental skates (regular roller skates) are in sad shape. They need to perform quality checks more regularly. One of my skates had nail heads poking through the bottom and the laces were too short for the boot. (2) They need better management on the rink floor itself. It is not unusual to see toddlers running around the rink floor in stocking feet and kids skating against the flow of traffic. This creates a dangerous environment. Someone will get hurt since there are so many newbies skating on the floor. Either simple announcements to clear the floor or have a rink employee get on the floor to redirect the littles would work. Other than that, this is a great place for skating. Check their website for open skate before heading out. My daughter and I are guaranteed to return.

I am updating my previous review. I did enjoy going to Skate on Grand/Bella's Bouncies Roller Rink…read morein the winter when it wasn't crowded. However, I later found the rink to be unsafe, understaffed and poorly managed. On Friday nights it can get crowded. There aren't enough staff or referees to manage the rink floor. People will loiter anywhere on the rink floor blocking the entrance and exit ways. Kids will sit on the floor with their legs sticking out for anyone to trip over. Teenagers loiter all over and mainly in the corning sitting area on the rink floor then all get up at once blocking all oncoming skaters. Kids skate the wrong way on the rink. If there is enough staff they will try to enforce the rules but the kids often ignore them. Or they will follow the direction once then go back to doing what they shouldn't be doing. I've found items on the rink floor that people can trip over such as large screws, candy, jewelry, and plastic containers of mints. The are usually no referees skating around looking out for these hazards. Unlike other rinks I've been to where kids with skate mates or people who would like to practice their tricks are directed to stay in the middle of the rink, there are young skaters at this rink who have no concept of rink etiquette and will speed by doing tricks around the rink not caring who is in the way and knock anyone down. I was knocked down and out one evening and didn't know what hit me. I was skating then the next second I was on my back passed out. Later that evening another person was knocked out and badly injured I'm guessing by the same young skater doing his tricks on the floor with no concern for others. Noticing some of these hazards earlier while skating there I had written to Skate on Grand/Bella's Bouncies with some suggestions before these accidents happened. I hope they will take some action to make this rink a safe and enjoyable place to skate again. It was really nice skating with the kids and families when it wasn't an unruly, madhouse full of middle schoolers who have care or concept of anyone else besides themselves. This rink is on the small side and should have a lower limited capacity instead of just letting as many people in as possible. However, the young people who work there I'm sure don't have any way of knowing or enforcing that.
