It's very cold, but somehow very enjoyable
    Jessica O.

I've been overtraining a bit and my body felt like I got hit by a truck, so I decided to give Cryotherapy a try to see if it would improve my muscle soreness. It was really easy to make an appointment online and I called ahead of time with some questions (number one being do you have to get naked but more on that later). I arrived for my appointment and filled out my registration forms on their tablet and then paid. (Bonus points because they have a special price for first time clients). I was led back to the treatment room. You get undressed and put on socks, slippers, thin gloves, and mittens, hop in the chamber, and ring the bell for the staff member to come back in. They raise up the platform so your head is at the top and start her up. Once the machine is turned on, you need to be constantly moving. The staff member in the room helps pass the time by talking to you. It's pretty cold but bearable. Before you know it, the three minutes is up, you hop out, get dressed and go on your merry way. I know you're waiting to find out if it works, right? I will say immediately after most of my soreness was gone and it did not come back. Also, I was in a pretty good mood which is rare because I am generally grumpy and mean. So, I will def be back for more cryotherapy especially after leg day when I have the worst soreness known to mankind.

I did the infrared sauna a few times and works really good! Easy to use, no setup, they heat it up for you.

This space is a hidden gem that not only has helped relieve me of post nasal drip many times but it's also a well curated environment that feels so relaxing and peaceful. And maybe the most inviting part about the Salt Cave is it's owner Sue who always welcomes us with a cheerful and positive demeanor. Sue is amazing and so wonderful with our daughter!! I highly recommend the Port Salt Cave

(If you haven't been - nothing beats the feeling of reclining in a zero gravity chair in such a therapeutic space.) This was the first salt cave experience of the two friends who joined me, and now they are hooked :) It's easy to miss in Inspiration Wharf (have to walk towards the water from the main road) in a lower-level shop. Another friend told me she was in Inspiration Wharf earlier today and didn't realize the Port Salt Cave was there. The shop itself is so lovely and I adore the owners! We had trouble leaving because we were admiring all the crystals, jewelry, Himalayan salt, blown glass and crafts. We also had trouble leaving because the energy in the shop feels great - partially due to the Himalayan salt and partially due to the energy of all the crystals. My 2 friends were curious as to what a "salt cave" was so we asked to see the inside of it from the salt cave room entrance. This is one of the loveliest salt cave rooms I have ever seen. There was a 2 for 1 special and the room was currently vacant so we took that as a sign and booked the hour session. For safety each of our temperatures were taken before we could enter, and for sanitary reasons we each put coverings on our shoes. From there we chose a zero gravity chair and were given information about the room before the session started. There is the calming sound of a waterfall in the room plus relaxing music over the speakers. All three of us highly recommend the shop and the salt cave and can't wait to go back!

This was my first time trying a 'salt room'. I went in with an open mind, and over the years have…read moretried a number of alternative therapies. On this one, I can't say I'm convinced it does anything. Sure, the overall space is nice and 'zen'. The salt room itself, very 'pretty' with all the various white/ivory/peach/pink/coral/orange shades of the salt walls. The feeling of salt crystals under your bare feet? Nice. Relaxing chairs to sit in. But at the end of the 30 minute session, did I feel anything special beyond the fact that I just 'relaxed' in a pretty room for 30 minutes? No. Note that the salt room can also hold up to three clients at a time, which means they have the potential to charge up to $87 for three people, for just a 30-minute period. That's $174 per hour for a room that's filled with salt. Where no personal or hands-on service is provided...just clients 'sitting' in a room. I guess they also disperse 'saline aerosol' into the room while you are sitting in there. I'm not exactly sure what that is, or how it's supposed to be beneficial to you but then it begs the question...is it the saline aerosol that benefits you and/or some type of 'energy' that is supposed to come from the salt itself in the room? I don't know...I just have to wonder if this salt room thing is nothing more than an (unproved) trend that they are going to milk for all it's worth, until the next wellness trend comes along. When I first arrived and was eventually directed to the room, even though they knew it was my first time there, I was given no real direction or expectation...just told to go on in the room. (Typically you'd expect some type of introductory language...'we pipe saline aerosol into the room...this provides XYZ, etc'). I also found it odd that at the end of the 30-minute session, the woman working the desk simply came to the room and opened the door without warning. No knock, no 'bell' to let me know the session was over...just her, suddenly opening the door. (Typically at personal service places like that, they would knock on the door first, or ask if it's ok to enter, and especially considering I was in the room all alone, i.e., maybe I was in the middle of taking a weird selfie when she just opened the door?) Maybe next time I'll give the infrared sauna a try and see how that goes...but as for the salt room and just sitting in there, I don't think I'd spend my money on that again. It so happens that at the time, I was starting to feel quite sick with a bad cold. Other reviews here seemed to suggest they felt 'relief' from a cold. I felt no difference in anything, after my salt room session.

The package also included tapas and champagne. Effie completed my body scrub. She was great and very personable. I felt comfortable being butt-ass naked (under the sheet) during my scrub. After the scrub was a shower. The shower inside the room was nice and refreshing. Jenn completed my Swedish massage. Before beginning she asked me if any parts of body was off limits and how much pressure I wanted/preferred. She really cared about my comfort level. Jamie completed my facial. She asked questions about my skin prior and my skin routine at home. She really cared for and about my skin. After my three treatments I had a small tapas plate of some fresh veggies, orange slices, hummus and crackers. I also had some champagne. The spa itself was very clean. I never considered myself to be a "spa person" but now after this experience I think I've changed my mind and will treat myself to spa days every so often. 5+ stars! Thanks again, ladies!
