I waited way too long to make the decision to preserve the cord blood. I contacted them at the end of week 37. The lady I spoke with was knowledgeable and very helpful. She went through all of the pricing options patiently so I could take notes. She even explained how the cord blood would be maintained in the instance of a natural disaster/loss of power. They have one flat price for collection and then a yearly fee (or you can pay for life storage for a one time fee). She also advised there is a discount for military, police, firefighters, teachers etc. So if you provide a service to the people you are probably covered. Once I made my choice and explained my due date, she over nighted the box to me! It arrived two days before my daughter was born at 38 weeks. We were able to save the blood! It can seem like an expense but we felt it was worth the sacrifce to ensure we had options if a nightmare arises. Now we have peace of mind. read more

This company and reps are Tacky to put it nicely. Within 30 min of our baby being born, a Cryo Cell sales rep entered the delivery room urging us to sign up for cord blood storage and how important it is. I was so confused at first, I thought they were part of the Hospital. I mean, come on, give us a moment?! The rep said ok and left the package and contract with us, came back in a hour ( again, we just gave birth ). Then the next day as my wife was sleeping in the maternity ward the rep popped back in. Ready to sign up? With everything else we were dealing with when having a newborn and recovery, this was the last thing we were able to wrap our heads around. While we were in the maternity ward healing and resting, I was doing my own research. We left the hospital, came home, then the pressured sales calls started. "We are the biggest cord blood company in the World and you'll regret not saving your child's life.... The benefits are endless!" ( TBH it's quite limiting ) DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE. If you or your spouse has a family history of leukemia or sickle cell, I would say it's worth the $3300 for 18 years as a piece of mind, but the likelihood of you needing this is slim. It's really just lining someone else's pocket. Company is based out of Florida. We finally told the sales rep we decided to donate our cord blood to science. Their response was you will regret this. Sales commissions over baby's health. The rep in the delivery room went as far as saying that if you needed the cord blood and we loose it, we'll pay you $75K! Good deal huh?Then the rep said you would actually make money. Such a turn off! To the Cyro Cell employees reading this: Have some class! We just gave birth we didn't need to be solicited in such a harsh manner and pressured into writing you a check by using scare tactics. I work in sales and see right through this. Our birth was magical and a wonderful experience for us to share. I was holding our child for the very first time when the sales rep entered the delivery room. It was so disgusting that I'm going to be contacting the hospital and sharing this experience with them. How dare they allow a sales rep into a delivery room to pressure new parents. For those considering freezing cord blood, do your research before, we decided to donate to science instead. We will be okay and so will you....after all Cryo Cell is the largest company in the world! They're not hurting ( despite almost going out of business a few years ago bringing in a new team to save the company ). More like Cryo-me-a-river-Cell! Rude and dismissive! I paid them every year for 18 years. ZERO updates about their storage facilities. ZERO reassurances that the cord blood is still intact. I tried twice to call and ask someone how I could be reassured that everything as fine, both employees were RUDE and dismissive and essentially told me, "everything's fine" just trust us. We researched a few companies before deciding where to bank our child's cord blood. Cryo-Cell had an open house in Oldsmar, and they were friendly and informative. If you live in the Tampa Bay area, try to attend an open house, there are a few per year. Now, they have a collections agency contacting me for payment of storage after these contacts. i'll pay it because it isn't worth the hassle but will be sure to let everyone I know across different platforms to proceed with caution. 1 star is for how efficient they were at collecting my child's cord blood 18 years ago and how they never missed invoicing me. I spoke with different companies prior to having our baby and the woman I spoke with from cryo-cell was the only one who was extremely professional and extremely informative. She took so much time to explain all of the details to me as well as all of the different options that they offered and the different pricing. I wish I could give this place zero stars. Please if you care about your children or family don't deal with this company. Cryo-cell will not work with the doctor or hospital when they rely on the end user to schedule pickup and delivery which makes no sense. After labor and delivery the last thought you should have is to deal with cryo-cell instead of your newborn. This company needs to schedule pickup automatically with the hospital where child is born. I had a great experience with Cryo-Cell with my first birth. The second experience (twins) was an absolute nightmare and I think the company should have offered at least a formal apology. I had a scheduled c-section and scheduled pick-up for all specimens. The company did not show up to pick up. I had to call again for pick up. Out of the blue, I got a text message update saying my specimen had been picked up when in fact no one had ever come and it was still in the room next to me. I called multiple times thereafter and it took another nearly 24 hours for pick up. This was unacceptable. Giving birth is very hard and stressful - Cryo-cell needs to make the experience as hassle-free as possible, particularly when there are timeframes that specimens need to be retrieved. I would not recommend it simply because I would be too anxious if there was a major screw-up, which I nearly had. read more

I researched the top 3 cord blood banks I found articles that were unbiased and I spoke to each of their representatives over the phone. Cryocell is the only company that offered the guarantee (no 1 else did). Cryocell offered us a military deal where they pay half cost! AND finally their method of storage in 5 different bags allows it to be used at different times with the way they preserve the chances of it being successful is higher. If you have one child, then you should be OK. If, however, you have children then note that each child will have to have his/her own account, which you will not be able to combine into a single account to manage. You will not be able to have one Web site login. You will not receive one, consolidated bill--you may receive just one bill for one child, which happened to me. Because Cryo-Cell's Billing department defines incompetence, it will not be able to understand how to communicate with you. You will not receive multiple statements, because even it understands how stupid its processes and policies are. Saving chord blood isn't a new thing, so there are alternatives. Look past the emotions you have around protecting your child and consider the logistics. They aren't there for this company. read more

Have to agree and WORSE with the first review from Allison L. who couldn't cancel. Sent them cancellation paperwork before moving 4 years ago. Just recently got calls from a collection agency and was turned down for a credit card for the first time in my life because my credit score dropped a 100 points due to their having turned it over to collections. Called them and they admitted the bills they were sending me were returned as undeliverable but turned it over to collections anyway! Their solution was for me to pay all the bills for a service I had cancelled and then I call the collection agency to see about fixing my credit (yeah, that'll work) as Cryo cell "doesn't have anything to do with that"!! Dealt with Jeffrey in accounting who seemed dense and robotic and certainly unsympathetic. We used Cryo-Cell to store my son's cord blood and we found the service easy to use and affordable when compared to some of the other services. When I called to ask a question, a live person answered straight away and I got the answer I needed. Once the blood was ready to be picked up, the courier arrived within two hours of the birth and picked up the blood from the room. I revived updates frequently about the status of the blood. We were having our first child so we put in time and a half on our research like many other first time parents and fellow yelpers; Cryo-cell just seemed to be the best fit for us. My wife met with Anat from the company and couldn't be happier, which in turn gave me lots of peace as we both worked hard towards keeping stress out of our lives during the pregnancy. My wife had all of our questions answered and our box ready for the hospital. I had not met with any rep prior to my wife going into labor and before doing so she told me "just make sure you call the number on the box when the baby is born"; and that's exactly what I did, it was 1:30am and I called and spoke to a rep who explained everything to me... the box was ready to go! He advised they would pick it up from the room by 8am, and they showed up to our room, right on the dot to pick up. What touched my heart was Anat showing up to the room later that day, coming to visit us as a new family. Words can't explain when someone goes out of their way to make an appearance at the most special moment in one's life.... I have family who still hasn't stopped by to meet her and she turns 6 months this week.. Any review I place here will never explain how special Anat is and no matter how many times we thank her, she won't ever know how much we appreciate everything she has done for us. We did a lot of research prior to our daughters birth. We ended up going with Cryo-Cell. Best customer service and best technology. We are happy to know we have a worst case scenario, just in case back up in plan in case of some horrible things going wrong. Pricing is reasonable for the service as well. The kit they send you has EVERYTHING and then some. The hospital staff was blown away by how thorough the kit was, remarking other companies do not do the same amount of blood testing to ensure all is well. read more

We selected Cryo-Cell for the preservation of our baby's cord blood and plasma after reviewing multiple companies extensively. The entire process was pretty simple and they did a wonderful job about explaining the process and steps we would need to take on a very specific timeline. Everything ran as seamless as possible and we had a successful collection and preservation sample. The only setback we encountered was they did not want to send someone to pick up the sample the evening it was collected and we had to hold on to it and ensure it remained intact for an extra day. I agree with many of the reviews here that state doing business with Cryo-cell is easy and their people are helpful and the experience is pleasant. Until you try to cancel. Its easy to see why there are so many positive reviews versus negative ones. Only people who started using them in the very early years of 2000 or so have probably considered cancelling by now as their children are full grown. But when you do try to cancel you will be basically guaranteed to run into problems. It seems like an old style book or record club. They keep billing and billing. You try to work things out, they tell you its all good then keep billing. Even after you take care of all the paperwork they ask you for, they spring emails needing more replies on you. I stopped reading the letters because I thought they were advertisements. After all, how could they be bills after several efforts to close the account then verify it was closed, only to find out I had an additional 2 years they were trying to bill me for. And dealing with their accounting department was an exercise in futility. Not sure how their competition is but if you use Cryo-cell be ready for extreme hassle when its time to stop using them. Once they have you they expect you to keep paying that storage fee forever. read more

Ok, I have to write here as I was already a customer to Cryo- Cell and made a call late in night to get some details about the service that I have purchased. My call was answered by a pickup person and personnel on the other end of the call said I will take the request and somebody should call you back tomorrow morning. Now the next day its almost mid-day and I did not receive the call, but when I was about to step out for lunch and had then decided to call Cryo-cell, I receive this and the agent/personnel helped me with all my queries and also did not make any in the air promises for some of my questions related to certificate. Overall my experience was good. Just to add my kit was picked up from the hospital during the early hours at around 4am or 5am. Recommend this to anyone. read more

***Note I have not used their services...but....they were extremely helpful in answering question about another company. To elaborate...we delivered a baby girl never thinking about banking before. The hospital packed everything up for us utilizing CBR another private company. So the sample was sent off while at the hospital as most of us at that time we have a lot going on. We did as well so did spend any extra thought on what company to use. Get the call a few days late from CBR for enrollment start filling our agreements and doing a little research and find out there are a lot of complaints on CBR. Seems more customer support related billing or sending people to collection where individuals claim they cancelled or paid or whatever. So I called Cryo-Cell to find my options. Can I move the sample to your facility? Is it safe? etc., The gentleman on the phone was honest, caring, understood the product and his competitors. We chatted yes I chatted with the guy which I never DO because good customer service is non existent. He gave advice for best approach for my family which I truly appreciate! All the logistics with the box were ok. Nevertheless, the lady that answer our pick-up call for spanish option (she barely could speak spanish), told by husband if we had the sample and "if he checked the tissue sample box". My husband did it, and suddently, another charge of 3,000 usd appeared in my credit card. I bought a package for 21 years for my baby for baby's cord blood. I filled up the papers just for cord blood. An I sent them days before that way. And this lady tricks my husband to sell another package, just minutes after my baby was born. That's is what I call a scam. Taking advantage of such a sensitive moment. What I was supposed to do?. Tell my OBGyn to stop whatever he was doing, ask the nurse to take my baby, and check with the lady in the phone if it was the package I asked for, or ask about the price of whatever she was offering? I spoke days later with this lady on the phone. The rudest woman I have ever met. I don't know if CryoCell pay them with profit sharing, but this woman was angry saying the worst possible way that my husband agreed to this credit charge. Of course, he did not. Later I spoke with a supervisor, she told me she was going to check the recording. Well, she did not. It was a spanish conversation.
