The rows of seats are graduated like a small movie theater. The lighting was great. The actors wear mics to enhance the sound. The offer popcorn and snacks for purchase. You can also purchase bottled water. If you want an alcoholic drink, you must purchase a "Stageworks" tumbler for $20. It comes filled with your drink of choice on the first round and then you pay for the addition drinks with a by the glass cost. You can bring the tumbler back each time. There was a little bit of a wait at intermission for the bathrooms. Of course, us ladies always have to wait no matter the venue. The staff were great in assisting us to the other more hidden restrooms. Everyone was friendly and the night was terrific. The theater is in a shopping center. Parking is free. You can buy tickets online and then pick them up at will call.

About a week before the show, I received and email that informed me of free parking at each show in their garage, which is almost unheard of when going to the theatre! We arrived about 30 minutes before the show started to see the theatre and it is beautiful! There could not be a bad seat in the whole place! We were in row G on the lower level and it was a great view!! The whole cast of the play was so fun and great at acting! Since then I've gone on to see The ripple, the wave that carried me home, and the latest show, The Lehman Trilogy. Each show Ive watched here has been wonderfully well crafted in storytelling, acting, and have been very immersive to the audience. You can definitely feel the love that was put into each production. I've been enjoying going to opening preview night of each of these shows, there's something really different about seeing the first live performance for each production. Seeing the directors and producers all watching their hard work come to life, the roaring standing ovation. It's a great place to be at! I fully recommend people to check out their productions as they're never a disappointment to me!

I had great seats right in center,but really the venue is so intimate there is not a bad seat in the house. The play Plumshuga: The Rise of Lauren Anderson. I believe this was the last performance of the show. Shes a Houston icon. It was a story of her life, told thru Houston Ballet dancers and other amazing actors. It was authentic, and showed a black woman's plight of becoming one of the best dancers in the US, her perilious journey through addiction, and her life now. It was centered and focused on her voice, and it was beautiful story that should be heard by many Americans, not just the black community. Bravo Lauren Anderson!

It was raining and able to navigate to the theater without getting wet. The venue itself is beautiful, modern, clean, and well-organized. We were able to enter quickly and our tickets were scanned with no wait. From the moment we entered, everything feels organized and easy to navigate, with helpful staff throughout the theater. Our seats were in the Mezzanine section and the view of the stage was partially obstructed by the back of people's heads sitting in front of me, but still had a decent view. The acoustics were excellent and the show was a fun, high-energy experience. Restroom lines during intermission were extremely long but seemed to move quickly. They had a variety of drinks available but I didn't purchase any. The overall experience felt seamless from start to finish. Except for the parking. After the show, was stuck in the parking garage over an hour trying to exit. However, the Hobby Center is a great venue for watching a show. Would absolutely come back to watch another show!

I have liked all three of the touring shows I've seen, but this was my first time in the Big Tent! It was a super hot day out, but the AC kept things nice inside. Don't expect big, comfortable seating with ample space to stretch out because these kinds of things are meant for packing people in. It's OK, that's what I expected since that's how most event-type places are. I'm glad there was an intermission so I could stretch out my back a little, though. Parking was easy getting in and out, although I could see it taking a bit longer if you get there a bit later than semi-early or if you get out of the tent a little slower. My favorite act was the juggler!

This review is for their performance in Houston…read more If you've been to other Cirque Du Soleil in the race park before then you know that there's no way around paying for parking. It will cost you $12 to park. The good thing about the parking is it was super organized so even though there were long lines of cars trying to park, the lines were moving; and once I had paid, the attendees directed me where to go and it took me less than a minute to park. Before you can enter the Grand Chapiteau, you have to go through your typical security measure. There are no metal detectors but they will look inside your purse if you have one. I was here with my sister and she didn't have a purse so we didn't even get checked. She did have a jacket on her but they didn't check it. This means you could sneak in your own snacks/drinks should you be inclined to. Why would one be inclined to sneak in their own snacks/drinks? Well, a bottled water/soda will run you $5. Nachos will run you $10. A Cotton candy will run you $8. Hot dog will run you $7. You see where I'm going with this? If you're coming here with your family (kids, wife, girlfriend, whatever), then you be better be ready to be dropping some $$$$. As for the show, it's your typical CDS stage/seating. You have the round stage with the seats surrounding them. I was lucky enough to get good seats to the right side and three rows from the stage so I was able to see everything clearly. If you opt to sit toward the back, some times you can't even see the faces of the performers clearly. The show started at eight on the dot. Some of the performances are pretty typical CDS where it would amaze you what a human body can do with training (contortionist, balancing act, juggling). Some of the other acts were more creative (invisible circus, finger dancing, animal impression). One act in particular was a combination of both where you have this dude playing yo-yo in the middle of the stage, but holy cow, he could control them yo-yos like they were a part of his body. I felt like he should have been competing in international yo-yo championship or something. All in all, I was happy with the show. This was also my sister's first Cirque Du Soleil and so everything was brand new to her and she was thoroughly impressed with the performances. CDS is always a fun event to go to and I definitely will go to whatever other Cirque Du Soleil shows that would make a stop in Houston.

Parking is abundant and easy ingress and egress was no problem. The Staff. Amazingly accommodating and Friendly. They helped us to our seats and were quite knowledgeable. Top marks. The Venue Part Deux. There are signs a-Plenty stating no food or drink in the venue. Until it is noted the drinks must remain closed a-la purchased drinks at the bar which come with a closeable top or bottles that may be again... brought with you and closeable. You can still bring your own in...but for a whopping $90 for 2 adult beverages, kid beverages, and waters at the beginning and pre order for intermission...you could have just brought in your closeable water bottle and saved the cost. This is like handing you the keys to an Aston but told not to drive it off the lot. Understandable for spillage, but not well explained. The production and sound were second to none. The only niggle I had were the inexperienced show goers behind us who continually dialogued what came next via the book, how it did not correspond to the movie, and continually picked at it. I cannot control other people...but do stay home or keep like a church mouse like the rest of us while the production was in course. I guess money can buy your way in but not common decency no matter your age bracket/demographic/wealth status. Again out of my control, so I will not hold it against the theatre. Overall. Yes. The program was called Queer Monologues: The Affair of Authenticity ,and a night of raw real and radical truth. They also had a panel of guests speakers, who shared their real life stories and testimonies about their life experiences in the community. The program focused on mental health for all types of relationships, that people go through in everyday life. Overall...this was an awesome event to remember!!!
