A most idyllic place to have your honeymoon. Fabulous sea wall to fish from, and I even catch them!! Nice beach to swim out from into Talland Bay, but you need to watch the current. The Blue Peter pub is the last one on the quay before France. It has a fantastic atmosphere, wonderful food, wonderful people and a whole lot of lovely memories for us. We have been back a few times over the years, and may well do it again next year. Particularly , when the mullet are up on the Gulf Stream!! All in all, a special place for us, and any other romantics who want to try it out. An afterthought, we decided to put up a couple of honeymoon photos!!! Seems like yesterday.

We arrived at the Inn and were impressed as we love the traditional pub. At the desk we were asked if we had booked as booking was needed. This I remembered on our next visit a few days later. However the front of the house manager, the Landlady I assume, juggled her bookings to find us a table. Lovely cheerful, friendly lady. The menu was a traditional pub grub menu, perfect. Choosing their fish and chips was the best choice I have made. Light batter, white fish and chunky chips. Our next visit was easier, as I have said, we booked. One nice touch is that my name was remembered from our original visit. Small thing but it makes you feel a little special. Service was brilliant, food was delicious. I must mention our server on our second visit, such a friendly young lady who gave that extra touch to our evening. Her name Scarlett (that's two T's LOL), I did remember.

Anyone who complains about lack of elevators and other modern accoutrements miss the point entirely. We loved this place. The employees were all pleasant and seriously helpful. The location is a short walk from downtown but on a quiet corner away from noisy crowds. Our room was comfortable with all expected amenities. The continental breakfast was fabulous with eggs, bacon, ham, and salmon cooked to order. Coffee and tea were piping hot and unlimited. The bartender/hotel manager was a very pleasant fellow named Gary who was more than willing to lend a hand or offer pertinent information or directions with a smile. On Tuesday and Thursday nights local musicians gather and play traditional English folk music. Free! And they are quite good. The bar and lounge are pretty much like they have been for hundreds of years and literally ooze with tradition. Great place to sip a beer or nurse a gin and tonic. Terrific place to stay. So glad we chose them. Great job folks. Now, if we can only figure out the name of that French ship that was captured during the Battle of Trafalgar and lent one of it's beams that now sits overhead at the bar.

There's not much going on in the village of Rock, Cornwall. There's not even much of the rock quarry visible that gave the place its name. So IF you're heading to Rock, why not stop at this rather nice restaurant which offers brilliant views of the bay. The menu is split into three time schedules, breakfast, lunch (12 to 6 p.m.) and dinner (after 6). The range is a bit higher key than the usual pub grub, and the chicken breast (topped with bacon and cheese) I opted for was rather nice indeed. The beer range is limited, especially on the hand-pumps - similar to the Rock Road Bar & Grill which inhabits the same building - and they may indeed be one item. Korev and some international lagers are available though. The view is indeed splendid and the staff were really nice when I visited. The outside seating can be covered, but it was not on this rather warm and sunny June day. Since there are very few alternatives here, I'd give The Rock Inn thumbs up. There is truly no real reason to go to Rock in the first place, but this one might be it.
