    Cookie Kitchen

Ordered Pink Velvet Cupcake cookie & Lemon Glaze cookie; enjoyed Pink Velvet, which was very sweet but had balance from cream cheese-like frosting, more than the Lemon, which surprised me given I'm turned off by artificial tastes & colorings. (The Lemon being free of both.) Served with a smile (maybe the cheeriest staff in quick service food industry). Waited a considerable amount of time for 2 cookies, but was satisfied with the presentation. No seating whatsoever to enjoy your fresh baked cookie (even a couple cafe tables out front would be nice). Cost is high, about $5 a cookie, which will offend you more if you make the wrong selection (I favored 1 over the other). Don't think this is something I will get hooked on, but still a nice addition to our food scene. Would like to see natural substitutes for synthetic ingredients in best sellers & then I could really get behind this brand. But overall, a good experience. Recommed to any cookie lover.

This was a must try for my daughter so we took the trip to find out for ourselves if the hype was true. The line was out the door and there was a lot of chatter about just ordering online. So we did both to see what worked better. We ended up inside and they had our cookies available as soon as we walked in. The presentation of the cookies was fantastic but the actual cookies were just okay. They are more like cake. The flavors were good but ultimately I'm not in love with thick cookies. I was also disappointed that with the limited selections that two were not available.

Let's talk about Crumbl Cookies. A dessert shop where the menu changes weekly. Each week on Monday they release new flavors of cookies. The chocolate chip cookie and sugar cookie are staples and always remain on the menu. I went the week of Valentine's Day and the cookie flavors featured included New York Cheesecake, Chocolate Caramel, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Confetti (Valentine) - this was the sugar cookie dressed up for Vday, Original feat M&Ms and of course Chocolate Chip. I was not at all impressed with the chocolate chip cookie I have had way better, then the chocolate covered strawberry was a chocolate cookie with a strawberry frosting and chocolate drizzle. The frosting was phenomenal, but I'm not really crazy about Chocolate cookies, so it was not one of my favorites. The salted caramel was also a chocolate cookie covered with caramel and salt sprinkled on top. I love caramel, but I'm not sure who made the decision that salt needed to be added to it. That ruined the cookie for me. I didn't even bother eating the original with M&Ms because I don't really like M&Ms and I didn't like the chocolate chip cookie. That cookie was the two combined. But my partner said it taste okay. My favorite, hands-down was the confetti cookies and the New York cheesecake cookie. The cookie for the New York cheesecake was like a graham cracker flavored cookie with cream cheese frosting, and then graham cracker crumbles sprinkled on top I mean it was phenomenal, so good I went back a second time during the week and got another one. It was amazing. The sugar cookie was perfectly soft with just the right amount of sweet. I was surprised to learn that in addition to cookies they also sell ice cream. I'll try that next time I go. I definitely recommend Crumbl but more for the featured cookies than the staples. 6 cookies cost about $23 and change.

The atmosphere is a bit more upscale than your average diner--everything was impeccably clean, and the ambiance was very pleasant. My friends both opted for the "All You Can Eat Buffet," which I understand is what this place is famous for (especially on weekends!). Their plates were packed, and the fact that they both went back for seconds speaks for itself--they loved it. I went with the Norway Benedict, and I was honestly blown away. It featured two perfectly poached eggs and smoked salmon on English muffins with a very generous serving of Hollandaise sauce, accompanied by a side of home-fried potatoes. The presentation was beautiful, the taste was excellent, and I truly can't think of a single thing that would have improved the dish. Service Highlights: * Attentive Staff: Our server was great--present when we needed drink refills but never intrusive. * Efficiency: They were quick to clear empty plates rather than letting them sit on the table, which we really appreciated. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

The vibe immediately pulls you in, classic 1950s ice cream parlor energy with a fun, nostalgic feel. One of the employees was even dressed in a white shirt and black bow tie, which totally fit the theme and added to the experience. They have a huge variety of flavors and options, so there's something for everyone. We came specifically for their Valentine's Day ice cream flight, and it did not disappoint. The flight included: * Cupid's Milk & Cookies * Raspberry Cheesecake * Red Velvet * Chocolate Covered Strawberry Every flavor was excellent, but raspberry cheesecake was the standout favorite rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. We also grabbed a kiddie size of white chocolate cranberry cheesecake, which was absolutely delicious and worth ordering on its own. Because it was freezing out (a rare win), we took advantage of that and grabbed two kiddie sizes to go for my mom, knowing they wouldn't melt on the way home. They also had ice cream pies stocked in the freezer, plus homemade waffle cones and waffle bowls, which smelled incredible. The only downside and this has nothing to do with Sweet Ride themselves was parking. With all the snow piled everywhere, we missed a sign indicating a bus stop zone right in front of the shop and ended up with a $50 parking ticket from the borough. Lesson learned: parking in the area can be tricky, so just be extra mindful of signage, especially in winter. That aside, this was a five-star experience across the board. Fantastic ice cream, fun atmosphere, and a great overall experience. We'll absolutely be back just with better parking awareness next time. Highly recommend if you're anywhere near Reading

"One white duck on your wall So fly away Peter…read moreFly away Paul Power of ten equals nothing at all" (Jethro Tull) There is a small but persistent misconception that Duck Donuts are fried in duck fat! Yes, their vanilla cake-based donuts are fried in hot oil and NOT duck fat. But what makes them unique is that their twenty-eight varieties are made to order right in front of your eyes. You see, the donuts are made by a cool automated process that drops plain donuts into a bin. Then the fun starts when the plain donuts are transformed in front of you with various toppings and drizzles. Bottom line? Your donuts are served hot and fresh for you. Founded in 2006 in Duck, North Carolina, the chain has expanded rapidly from its original Outer Banks location and now operates over 150 locally owned shops across 26 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The donuts are reasonably priced, so we paid just $2.65 each for a Blueberry Streusel and Cinnamon Bun donut. They were amazing. We both had a half of each donut last night, and we agreed the Blueberry was the clear winner. Bottom line? If your donut quacks like a duck.....you're in luck!

WORK REVIEW: poor leadership and HR enablement created a dysfunctional work…read more * this is my opinion based on my experience working there* I was the assistant manager at Cafe Sweet Street for a little less than a year. I have a lot of experience in management in another industry but I was excited to get this role as I've always wanted to get into food. Upon starting, my experience was great. It's a fairly easy job and you also get a free meal each shift. That being said, when I was told about all the turnover they experienced - I was confused. I was primarily tasked with running the front of house. The General manager(GM) was also the head chef and primarily managed the kitchen staff. During my first few weeks there, the front of house girls trained me on what to do and it became clear very quickly, that no one had properly trained them. There were no standard expectations set for cleanliness, how food or drinks should be made, and the girls just kind of did whatever they wanted. I quickly took action to set expectations, improve customer service, re-train the girls on cleanliness issues and how to operate the coffee bar. Over the course of my year there, it became very clear to me that the GM was a primary issue. He was rarely present in the cafe, did not take the time to train his people or set expectations, yet, GM would seemingly get upset when things were not done to his liking. Other issues that I observed goes as follows: GM would be passive or speak condescendingly to the girls, make it difficult for more than one person to call off at a time, would not help the FOH staff out if they needed it, and would never take responsibility/accountability when he was wrong. GM would react unprofessional when a pregnant team member started to have a lot of appointments because it would mess up the schedule. Due to frequent call offs, there were many times where I had to close kitchen and FOH alone because GM could not be bothered to stay beyond his scheduled time. It was a running joke throughout all of Sweet Street that he was an asshole. And if you did not know, he is also related to the owners.. which he would often complain about the owner and how she was extremely difficult. Anyways, when I went to finally address these issues with him, he wanted to have a meeting with HR. When we had that meeting, it was a "surprise review" for me rather than a conversation to address some of my concerns as we had previously agreed on. GM took this opportunity to turn the issues on me and made it seem like I was the one who was not doing my job. Mind you, I did not have a single write up my whole time there. As a result of this "meeting" turned ambush, I decided to resign right then and there. When I finally got to addressing my issues, the head of HR (HHR) all of Sweet Street decided to dismiss all of them, gaslight me and continued to enable GM by avoiding any form of accountability. I want to make this abundantly clear: HHR only seems to care about protecting Sweet Street the company, not the employees. I have visited the cafe a few times since resigning because I still have old co-workers there who I visit and the food is decent. Well, my last time visiting the cafe The HHR approached me and asked to speak with me. When getting to her office, she very rudely flooded me with questions, one of which was "why would you ever come back to the cafe?"(mind you, I am a customer who has returned to the cafe several times to eat since resigning). When I told her that I still have old co-workers here and do not mind supporting the cafe by eating here, I was told "we don't need your support" and that I am not welcome here. This is both funny and ironic because the cafe does not seem to be receiving a lot of business most of the time and would more than likely benefit from my support. I suppose what I had addressed from the "meeting turned ambush" left an impression. Anyways, i will not be going back but this is an FYI to anyone applying. I have even heard that they already turned around a couple more people.
