Since I was quickly approaching my due date, my spouse and I decided to push up our little one's…read morebirthday party just in case I went into labor. Two weeks before the party, I called Fantasty Cakes to ask if they were available to bake a princess themed birthday cake for our little one. Thankfully, they were available and agreed to make the cake for us. Later on that same day, we stopped by to see and approve the model they had for the detailing of the cake. We agreed to bring fresh flowers in for the top of the cake and a gold crown cake topper we purchased. We dropped both items off the evening before our event. The princess birthday cake turned out nearly exactly how we wanted it. The style was elegant and they included a nice, sutle glittery sheen to the cake as well. The cake was moist, not too sweet (just how I like it), and was quite tasty. For the filling, we requested strawberries. Unfortunately, they included very little strawberries for the cake's filling. They did include a ton of fresh whipped cream more so than strawberries, which was disappointing for the amount of money we spent on the cake. Initially the customer service we experienced was pretty good. The staff seemed helpful and knowledgeable, even when we spoke on the phone. On the pick-up day, however, our multi-tiered cake was given to us in a donut box and not an actual cake box. That being said, the donut box was not closed around the cake, exposing it to the elements. My husband asked if they could place the cake in an actual cake box, but the worker said the donut box was all they had and handed it over to him. I'm very grateful for Fantasy Cakes being available to make my daughter's birthday cake on such a short notice.

I was hoping for a bakery that made cakes fresh from scratch. Not the case. If you love processed food you may love these cakes. We did not. Even my dad who loves lemon bars and eats lots of processed foods did not like the lemon cake or the chocolate. I bought four kinds and none were finished by any of us in the family.

Everyone in my group loved their cupcakes, and I already want to go back to try the margarita…read moreflavor. The cupcakes were moist, fresh, and really good. I'm usually someone who can only eat a bite or two of cupcakes because they tend to be overwhelmingly sweet, but these were much more enjoyable. They were still a little sweeter than my personal preference, but not in an overpowering way--I almost finished my entire cupcake, which rarely happens. Everyone else loved theirs as well. The pricing felt fair, and the person working behind the counter was very friendly. My only suggestion would be making it a little clearer that the bakery and coffee shop share the same space. As a first-time customer, it was a little hard to tell which business was which. Overall, great cupcakes, friendly service, and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

I've heard about Famous Creations from many people but never got to try their sweets until…read morerecently! Famous Creations has a bunch of sweets including cupcakes, cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, and custom cakes. This inside of their space is open, and quite empty. The decor is cute, but overall the space feels a little incomplete. I got the Ube Tres Leches after wanting a sweet treat after lunch! Their Tres Leches has good components of a good Tres Leches: moist cake soaked in milk with a creamy whipped cream on top. However, the milk did not appear to be evenly absorbed across my portion of cake, as some sections remained without any milk. The cake also seemed to be the only thing ube flavored, so overall the ube flavor was lacking. The cake in general was yummy, but was not my favorite as an ube tres leches. Their desserts overall look great and their custom cakes are super cute! I hope to try other items in the future.

I saw their booth at the SF International Chocolate Salon 2013, and got to sample a lot of their different flavors. I liked the Seaweed Caramel, Li-Hing Mui Caramel, Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramel, and Oreo Caramel (everything that I tried!), but the Bacon Caramel is what REALLY stood out for me, and I'm not even a bacon fanatic! The popcorn kernels are huge and fluffy, and somehow manage to stay really crispy even weeks after your purchase date (the expiration date wasn't for another few months). If you live by Walnut Creek or pass through here, Plumeria Flours should be a must stop if you like caramel popcorn!

One of my aunties from L.A. really likes the seaweed flavored popcorn..dont be making faces reading the types of popcorn they make if you havent even tried.. Besides their popcorn..I AM SOOOO IN LOVE WITH THEIR CUPCAKES..Guava, Passionfruit, Haupia, Mocha, Chili Chipotle, Mango, Coffee, etc..i tried them all..their guava i cant get enough of..seriously can't get enough of.. i sure miss them at their old Walnut Creek location..but i know i can always catch them at the Treasure Island Flea Market or one of the plenty events that happens throughout the year..or then i can go check Kilohana Grill if its my popcorn fetish i need to fulfill =)
