SCAM - DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE…read more If you care at all about your pet DO NOT bring them here. What we all want for our pets is good, quality care with a trustworthy vet. But this isn't that type of place. I have a Bernese Mountain Dog - large breed- and my regular vet doesn't provide spay and stomach tacking services for such a large breed. So I started digging and found Lancaster Animal Clinic. IT WAS ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE. My FIRST consult was with a female vet that gave my dog an exam, but told me she couldn't perform the surgery. If I wanted my dog's spay and stomach tacked, I'd have to have another consult with ON THE SPOT, which is a separate provider that uses their location. At the end of this visit, I was charged for a consult fee and for ear infection treatment. This was completely paid for, in full, no disputes. But a little frustrating when this could have been avoided by the staff when scheduling my appointment because seeing another vet would mean another consult fee... but still I wanted my dog to see the correct vet. So I made a SECOND consult appointment, in July, and came back to see the ON THE SPOT vet, Dr. Reynolds. During this visit, Dr. Reynolds examined my dog, talked to me about the spay and stomach tacking procedure, and I was very clearly uneasy about this and said I wanted to think about it and the associated cost which he quoted as $2,500. The vet also noticed during this visit, a skin irritation on my dog, and offered a special shampoo and pills. I DECLINED and said I would take my dog to our regular vet, but Dr. Reynolds said he would take care of it at no additional charge. I thought this was extremely considerate given I had been at the clinic multiple times and charged for multiple things without ever receiving the services I was there in consult for.... Can you guess what happened next?... I receive a bill, IN NOVEMBER, almost 5 months after the consult, saying that I owe the consult fee and the medication. When describing the situation to the staff, I'm treated as if I'm lying and neither the clinic staff, ON THE SPOT staff, or Dr. Reynolds can acknowledge a miscommunication on their part. I'm asked questions by their billing staff quoted from email "If you were going to get them through your regular vet., why did you take them? If you had any concerns about the fee for the medication why not ask before you left." I had absolutely no reason to confirm something that I thought was perfectly clear to me at that time. This clinic along with ON THE SPOT only want your money. They don't care if you've been a good client, they don't care about your pet...and they don't care about you... I was taken advantage of during my interactions with the clinic's staff and with Dr.Reynolds. I was completely misled which is highly dishonest and unprofessional. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS HERE! Update 12/9/2022: In response to the comment left by the clinic on Google to clarify a few MORE "miscommunications." Harley was well within the healthy weight for a Bernese Mountain Dog and NO where in her records shows obesity. In her examinations it was suggested to switch her from puppy to adult food to PREVENT obesity. During the exam with Dr. Reynolds - he in fact DID NOT recommend postponing the surgery. He said the skin irritation was not serious enough to cause him concern if we moved forward. AND I didn't just leave...I walked out with a vet tech and even asked what I needed to do before I left. Just PLEASE if anyone is considering coming here - DON'T! I'm really trying to keep pet owners from going through this with their furry loved ones.

I explained to the nurse that I brought the dog to matvet because he was getting worse and I didn't think he could wait till 6 PM to be seen by then. After being cleared by matvet, madvett told me, I can go back to my normal vet so I brought the dog there and they said that my appointment was given away and they could not see him. I said I didn't understand because I did not cancel the appointment. They said that they talked to medvet, and when they knew I went there, they canceled the appointment without talking to me. I told them I want to talk to the doctor the doctor came to me and did not speak to me only yelled and threatened me and said that she would call the police if I did not leave. So I was dumbfounded because i've never been threatened in this way, so I did not say anything, and I got up and walked out. Do not bring your dog here. Not once did I yell or curse or threaten ever. I just said I wanted to talk to the doctor and the doctor threatened me immediately. I've never seen a business run this way. In my 42 years of life, this is unbelievable, and the sad part is, my dog is still suffering and all they could do It's treat me like a criminal.!!! I will be contacting an attorney to see my legal options. And it's contradicting because when I got there and the nurse said that they gave my appointment away. She still brought me back to a room to talk to the doctor I did not ask to be brought to a room. She just said, please come back here to this room with me and said she would get the doctor. All I asked was to speak to the doctor so that shecould see the pain. My dog was in, but it didn't matter.Is when the doctor got there. All she wanted to do was threaten me like a criminal.

I like the care that my dog receives; however, they are expensive. I had went a while between pets and after my first visit here I was amazed at how the profession has changed. This is not ran like a local small town vet, it is very (for lack of a better term) "corporatized". I understand that these are businesses, and managing costs are part of it, but the old fashioned vet never made me feel that way. I had read several places that VCA was part of a larger conglomerate, and it is noticed. I had a procedure quoted for my pet and VCA was close to triple the cost of the same procedure when compared to other vets. As I'm sure most consumers would do, I am going to seek comparable care at a more economically friendly facility.

When we got our first dog, a few days after, she wasn't feeling well and could not keep down food. We took her to Amanda Animal Hospital and we found out she had parvo. They didn't give her a great chance to survive but they were willing to do anything and everything. After four days at the hospital our dog made it through. If we didn't take her there and without their quick and effective treatments I don't think she would have made it. They usually focus on large breed but also serve house pets as well. The folks there are always friendly and you can see and feel their passion for animals. Our dogs have had a several operations and yearly check ups and they have done an excellent job!! We recommend them to anyone with pets and looking for a great vet. If you love your animals as much as we do and want the beat care I wouldn't any further than Amanda Animal Hospital.

No exam,no exam tomorrow, just came out to the waiting room to tell me my dog had a heart rate that was life threatening and she needed to stay. I told her I would like to see my dog, she informed me that there no rooms available for that. After another 30 minutes later a tech came out with an estimate. I asked some more questions about them keeping her the tech told me I would need to talk to the vet again, another 25 minutes later, the vet came out. She was clearly annoyed, sat down and stared at me, didn't ask what I needed did say "I heard you had questions" just glared. I asked my questions she answered them clipped and clearly agitated. I told her I was uncomfortable leaving my dog but if that was best for my dog I would, but I wasn't leaving until I saw her. We arrived at medvet at 7:15, at 9:30 I was finally able to see my dog again. After I had been told my estimate and diagnosis, one that was procured with zero testing, in a room full of strangers. I had spent a total of less than five minutes with a real person and they wanted me to sign an estimate for 2600.00. After 20 minutes in a room with my dog, they came back I signed the agreement and the tech agreed that she probably didn't need to stay. Never saw the vet again, but after another two hours they agreed to treat her and let her go home. For an issue they insisted was life threatening they too. Their time making me feel pressured into giving them thousands of dollars but doing very little for my dog. I cannot express enough DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! They want your money, there is no empathy, the front desk is cold impersonal, the vet is hard and takes zero time with people. As long as this review is I could go on for another 500 words of the things they screwed up, letting me sit in a room alone for a tech to come retrieve my dog that hadn't even been brought to me, a second tech coming in to ask me what how they were treating her, the front desk acting like I was bothering them when I check out.
