The reserve Cabernet $55 was delicious and very fruit forward just like you would expect from a Paso Robles Cabernet. It was perfectly dry with a robust body. We brought a bottle home and did a blind taste test with other Paso Robles Cabernets. It won! We also had bread sticks and olives. The property is lovely. It makes for a great ambiance.

I'm sure masks make it hard to understand each other, but the whole interaction felt awkward and not very welcoming. Later a local family that this employee knew came in, and she was very nice warm to them, so I guess she just didn't want to warm up to me. My husband said the other employee was helpful & friendly. Sure. But then again, so is Buc-ee's, and people flock to those. Mars Cheese Castle has its place: a convenient spot to take a washroom break, stretch your legs, and browse for some Wisconsin goodies. Would I go out of my way to stop here? No. But it worked perfectly for us on this trip, and sometimes that's exactly what you need when you're on the road. Mars Cheese Castle certainly lives up to its name. It has all the cheese that you could want. It is inside of a castle or "castle" I guess. It has a restaurant. My back sadly has gotten way too big lately, and I otherwise was too full to try the cheese curds from the restaurant. I ended up buying some popcorn. Is Mars Cheese Castle worth going out of your way to check out? Honestly, probably not. But I did it anyways and I'm happy I did.
