We both had a burger, can't remember which, but super meaty, super tasty. Big flavour, big belly. I felt like a fat badger after that. Service wasn't the quickest, but it was cheerful and helpful. I've stayed in two different rooms at the Crown and both beds have been terrible. I know part of the feel is to be an old, historic hotel but they can still use an update. I've been to gorgeous old hotels that have beautifully remodeled rooms. My room has also been so hot, even with the windows open that it has been difficult to sleep. In one of the rooms the closest outlet was across the room, so charging your phone was annoying. When I come back to Harrogate, I don't think I'll stay at the Crown again.

The hotel has 180 rooms and dates back to the Victorian era, the building its-self is so grand, it looks more like a castle, it is also a very large hotel to the point where I could not hear any of the renovations work due to it being located to the opposite wing of the hotel, to where my room was. The inside of the hotel was also grand as the exterior of the building would suggest, the hotel bar had a fancy and affluent feel to it, while also having the days newspapers for the guests to browse. While the hotel does not have suites, they do have a selection of rooms branded Superior and Deluxe, as a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I was upgraded from my original room into a "King Bed Deluxe Room." I found my room to be well stocked with amenities, while also being comfortable and quiet, to the point where I was able to sleep in, without being disturbed. The King Size bed was also huge and comfortable, as you'd expect from Doubletree. My room featured a Nespresso machine, but strangely didn't feature the pods to make the coffee! Other amenities included a mini-fridge, safe, kettle, iron, robe, and slippers. There were some restrictions in the hotel, most likely down to it being an old building, there is a set of stairs to get into the hotel, which can be tiresome with a suitcase, and there is only one lift that goes to the fifth floor, the only other lift in the hotel (for guests) goes up to the fourth floor, then you must take the stairs right to the top - I found the lift to be slow and very small too. There was not an in-room air-conditioning or heating unit, this was replaced by a fan and a heater kept in the rooms, the heater, which I used during my stay was excellent and made sure the room was kept warm, alongside the turned-on radiator in the bathroom. The staff at the hotel seemed very friendly, although the wait, especially at the Front Desk, seemed slow, especially due to the check-in process. PRO TIP: Check-In online via the Hilton Honors app to bypass the queue, but stop by the Front Desk when they don't seem too busy, the welcome letter is VERY useful. This was the only notice provided for the fire alarm, as I checked in online, no one advised me about it, and the half-assed response to my complaint was "It is stated in the welcome letter" (which I didn't receive)... surely putting them in the rooms would be the best bet if they know a guest has checked in online? I did not have breakfast in the hotel, as I decided to sleep in, they do end breakfast at 10 am during the week, I find this to be a little early but it is understandable if they want to start serving early, as they can't be serving breakfast all day. I was offered a late checkout on my day of departure up until 14:30 which I appreciated, and I was able to leave my bags for safekeeping inside the hotel until my train home in the evening. I wasn't a fan of the shower, I found the water to feel rough and the shower was difficult to use, I also prefer the individual soaps, compared to the larger ones, bolted to the wall, which is used here. 4* - A very nice hotel in Harrogate town centre, I was very pleased to pay £81 for my room, I felt for the quality of the room and service offered by The Majestic, it was a great stay and this would be my first choice of hotel if returning to Harrogate, despite a couple of minor problems with the lifts, stairs and fire alarm issues.

I was really tempted to give it 3 stars based on the super rude front desk staff at my initial checkin. That said, the hotel is really beautiful, my room was extremely modern and comfortable, and the amenities were nice. There are very mixed reviews about this hotel on TripAdvisor, but I found my room to be in excellent condition (You could tell it was a new remodel on the 4th floor; part of this floor was completely closed off due to previous fire/smoke damage). I will say that this hotel must not receive many foreigners traveling from abroad, as most North American flights were arriving at 9:30AM. To have to wait for a room until 3 pm check-in when you're super, super jet lagged is frustrating. The front desk staff didn't seem to care and was quite rude. That said, the hotel is in walking distance of the center of Harrogate, and just a few blocks from the lovely Turkish baths (call ahead as it books up fast!) along with Betty's tea house. Overall, lovely stay.

Jon and Lyndsay are a young couple but have a charming old fashion sense of customer service. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them, they always remember my mobility isn't too good so arrange a suitable room. The hotel is on the main Kings Road just a few yards past the Harrogate Conference centre. The rooms are spotless and well kitted out. Flat screen TV, free WiFi, shampoo and soap, tea coffee water and biccies all available in all rooms. There is a residents lounge with big screen TV and chilled honesty bar. The garden has a seating area for sunny days which was perfect on Friday for a couple of beers in the sun. They have a very nice breakfast room which over looks the coppice. Breakfast time can be requested rather than being set to strict times like most places. Breakfast itself is spectacular, wide range to choose from with all quality locally sourced ingredients. If you need a hotel in Harrogate then try the Fountains. You will not regret your choice.

You do usually expect somebody on reception when you arrive and when you leave. Had to wait for someone to come out of the back and check me in as there was no buzzer to press despite the sign saying to press it. No one there when leaving, just a hole in the counter for cards. I do expect more for £65. Breakfast would have been nice too. Now I remember why I dont live in Harrogate anymore. Too expensive.

The hotel itself is a row of 4 or 5 converted Georgian houses which leads to a very confusing lay out. Rooms are split in to 2 wings, I was in the 2nd wing and would not complain one bit about my room. However, my colleague was staying in the 1st wing and had all sorts of issues, cold, small bathroom, no pressure in the shower, etc, etc. There is a small car park out that back, charged at £6 per day. I had breakfast included and again, no complaints from me and there was plenty to choose from. Harrogate is a beautiful place and the kimberley, for me, is a good place to put yourself.

The room was spacious and well equipped, the bathroom was amazing and the service we received was excellent. The breakfast buffet was included in my room deal and it was great, the cooked part especially (the excellent bacon was a highlight; proper dry cured, not your soggy run of the mill nonsense). It was a great base to explore Harrogate and beyond from, excellent stuff!

What is really nice about it is the location: it overlooks the 'Stray', which is a grassland commons in Harrogate. It is also a short walk from the city centre, so the train station is within walking distance (although depends a little on the size of your suitcase!). Anyway, the reason why I'm writing, is to let you that I experienced the best room service EVER at this hotel recently. It was beautifully presented and masterfully cooked, it was like the hotel had a high-class restaurant that was not advertised! I had steak sandwich which was high quality, on ciabatta with garlic mayo, chicken wings which must have been the highest quality wings I've ever had, and wonderfully cooked wedge chips with the perfect mix of crunch on the outside and softness in. The room service menu is also impressively extensive, so I would highly recommend it if you are staying for a few days. Yum! Such a beautifully decorated, cozy, boutique hotel right in the center of Harrogate. The bed was super comfortable and the was bathroom huge & luxurious (especially after arriving from Prague and the world's smallest bathroom). The bar brags of some of Yorkshire's best beers on tap - some great hand pulled bitters and ales - as well as Harrogate's own Slingsby's Gin (ask the bartender for a taste or even a custom cocktail made with Slingby's, you won't be disappointed!). Great accommodation, will gladly stay here again when back in North Yorkshire. There's nowt so queer as folk!
