Stayed here for 2 nights recently, and it was our first time at a Hampton Inn location. This is a well located spot - very close to the train station, and within easy walking distance of the center of town (York being extremely walkable to begin with). This location is perhaps best suited for business travelers, and seems (at least according to the breakfast crowd I saw) seems to be a popular option for those on work trips.
I learned that all of their rooms are of the exact same size, so there is no point attempting to upgrade or anything. We had 3 people in our group, so knew we would be getting a double bed with a sofa bed pull out. While the room is a decent size for 2 people, with 3 it is nearly impossible to navigate around with the sofa bed pulled out, and with luggages everywhere. The room is "efficiency-ed" to the extreme, and is generally okay except for the fact that the closet and the bathroom share a sliding door. This requires one to always be calling out when they're emerging from the bathroom, as not to hit the door into anyone standing near the closet. If you're staying here for more than a night or two, or value space, I'd recommend going elsewhere.
That being said, the location is really ideal, the service was efficient and friendly, and they have really good WiFi throughout the building. The rooms are quiet and tidy. Best of all, I feel that their breakfast area, in terms of selection and space, were really great. They had a great variety of both hot and cold foods, ample space to move around, and everything was well prepared. They even have waffle makers, and multiple coffee machines so that you're never having to queue up for stuff. I'd probably be more selective when thinking about what kind of room size a facility can offer, but for the purposes of my travel this trip, this worked out great. read more
