My stay at the Cedar Court was uneventful: its an ageing hotel with very traditional looking (pre 2000s anyway) interior design. What is really nice about it is the location: it overlooks the 'Stray', which is a grassland commons in Harrogate. It is also a short walk from the city centre, so the train station is within walking distance (although depends a little on the size of your suitcase!). I was there for the Conference Centre, and although I probably could have walked it in 30 mins or less, the taxi ride was only £5 so pretty fair going.
Anyway, the reason why I'm writing, is to let you that I experienced the best room service EVER at this hotel recently. It was beautifully presented and masterfully cooked, it was like the hotel had a high-class restaurant that was not advertised! I had steak sandwich which was high quality, on ciabatta with garlic mayo, chicken wings which must have been the highest quality wings I've ever had, and wonderfully cooked wedge chips with the perfect mix of crunch on the outside and softness in. The room service menu is also impressively extensive, so I would highly recommend it if you are staying for a few days. Yum!
About the room: relatively small, but with a really nice bathroom with very big bath. Views overlooking the Stray. Gym is tiny and old. read more
