This is my favorite place in the whole city to run. Long flat running, walking and biking paths along the beach with amazing sunset views and not too many people, and no cars. It's perfect!!

I attended the JACL's anniversary event at Crown Point Beach in Mission Bay Park. We all ate, chatted and enjoyed the view of the sea together. This park is really beautiful. There are no big waves and it's very calm. It's very suitable for family gatherings. It's also suitable for children to swim and do water sports.

Went on a Monday night. All the fire pits on the east side of the beach were taken, filled with joy and laughter. It was peaceful and clean from what I could see at night. Nice views of nearby homes and even SeaWorld in the distance.

Lovely place to go right before sunset with some friends and your pup!

Fun and chill spot for a weekday bonfire. No crowds. Dogs allowed!! Bring a jacket! Plenty of parking a public restroom nearby.

Well Coming to Crown Point and it is beautiful park along Mission Bay and the walk along the beach plus it gets packed here !! Lots of people gathering here for parties and special events plus it fits perfectly for the kiddos and kids love playing in the sand here . Lots of green grass and the views along the park fits perfectly with families and friends . We came here for an evening of fun and a nice walk around the park seeing people hanging out doing BBQ and having a great time , Lots of parking but it sometimes gets filled up quickly though !! It's a beautiful park to take your family and friends or to have that special event or party !! We enjoyed the walk around here and surely can see us coming back again and again . I suggest you come here and enjoy the views and soak in the sun !!

Beautiful running loop that leaves from crown point.

What a great park on mission Bay. Always plenty of parking in the lots. Lots of grassy areas to setup chairs and hang out. Basketball courts and playgrounds close by. Also a nice place to launch paddle boards from. I also always park here to run a 6 mile loop around the bay and back (or add onto the boardwalk for longer distances)

It was my granddaughter's 14th birthday party at Crown Point Beach tonight. We had a great bonfire, about 20 kids, and 16 parents enjoying what everyone thought was going to be a very cold night, but instead it was peaceful, no wind and comfortable! The kids played lots of crazy games, ate chips, Doritos, and Chex mix. Ah, then the pizza arrived, and afterwards there was a huge chocolate cake for all to enjoy!!! Very cool to have the lighted boat parade going on in front of us at the same time!! Great fun!!

Different bays all over San Diego

In San Diego there are different areas to enjoy doing a lot or just laying back doing nothing! There is Mission Bay which is very popular! Just south is Seaport Village! Then a little further west is Shelter Island and Harbor Island! More popular places to stay and eat! As we drove near the bay we stopped at Crown Point to walk a path and watch the water with Seadoos and kids playing. Lots of BBQs and tables! Lots of big trees to sit under so you don't get sunburn! Each bay is a little different and should be visited! It's so peaceful.

Great park area, wide open spaces. One note, I noticed that the parks employee was not allowing dogs at the park or the beach. Be aware. Walter regular playground equipment for kids and a sand area. It's nice and close to the water. Again lots of space and a restroom and basketball court

Gorgeous area in PB. Perfect way to spend a day in the idyllic SD weather. Massive parking lot with many open spaces - even on the weekend - and plenty of space to walk/bike/hang out. Loved seeing fellow San Diegans and visitors alike having a wonderful time.

I moved to crown point area about 5 months ago. LOVE every day. There is always something to do. I went to the Crew Classing rowing event a few months ago. Beer and food trucks... and lots of boat races. I also love biking along the path and watching all the RVs and family's come to set up for their beach day. It's very tranquil and tropical compared to most of San Diego.... I always feel like I'm on vacation. There are several huge parking lots to accommodate parking. Trash cans and ample bathrooms and water stations. I personally do not use the public bathrooms (fortunate to live near by) ... but it is a nice option for everyone. They have 2 charcoal grilling stations and they have 10 or so bonfire pits. The parking lot closes after 10 PM so don't leave ur car... but it's perfect for bonfires at the beach.

I've been saving my 300th review for this place, which is near and dear to my heart. It is because of this place that I fell in love with San Diego. I was first introduced to Mission Bay Trail about 2 years ago and this is where I refound my step after going on a running haitus for 7 years. Whether it is early in the morning or late in the afternoon right around the sunset, this trail offers you an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scene of sun and sky and the water. Parking at Crown Point Park, I typically go along the top upside down U part and so depending on the time of day, I catch a sunrise or sunset). Along the trail there are helpful markers for every quarter mile, so if you start from the park and go right, if you turn back around at Catamaran, that's almost a 4 mile run. What I like to do is go all the way to Bahia and turn around for approximately a 7 mile run. Saturday mornings around 7:30 you'll find some of the local running clubs gathered at this park for a group stretch and then a run. While the path is generally fairly active with other runners, bikers, dog walkers (I've also borrowed people's dogs just to bring them walking here), stroller pushers, or scooters - it's never really felt so congested that I got irritated. In fact, this is my go to spot when I'm having a bad day because of the calm serenity the ambience offers. My heart melts whenever I see an elderly man/woman pushing their walker on this trail and I can only aspire to be that determined and active when I get to that age. Since I've found this place I've been motivated to get back into running half marathons and with this place, there's no turning back or excuse to quit running again.

My favorite running spot now that I know how to run... Sort of, you just kinda move the legs right until you get 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 miles? Anyway, I go after work and there's not too many people. But not so little that you'll feel scared or paranoid. You can park for free at Crown Point parking and head your way around the bay for a good old 5 miles. I also love the fact that they have 1/4 mile markers and those markers are pretty accurate. I wear a running watch and it matches the markers! Love love this running spot, don't forget the beautiful view!!

We paid for parking right in front of the Spanish Art Village and paid $10 for 4 hours. Spanish Art Village was beautiful. If you buy something, it goes directly to the artist whose studio you're in. The artists were sitting quietly and would talk to you about their art pieces and tell you a little about themselves. Everything in there was so cool. I was especially intrigued by the artist in Studio 21, he had these incredible three part paintings he does by hand and I've never felt so much emotion before by an art piece. I really wish I had the money for them because I really would've taken them home with me ;( The botanical building was stunning, it wasn't as big as I thought it would be but definitely beautiful! We also ended up visiting the Timken Art museum and the PostSecrets and Cannibalism exhibits within the last 15 minutes of them being open. Wish we got there earlier so we didn't have to speed through them, but staff was still really nice and everything was so interesting to look at! We went to Panama 66 for a quick drink and bite afterward. We didn't even get to explore the rest of it because the entire park is so expansive, but we will definitely be coming back to visit the rest. It's definitely a must for tourists, but I just know I'd be here every day lying in the grass and reading if I lived here!

So apparently there are a lot of parking lots which are not free, $10 unless you're a native and have a pass. We found one lot, called lower inspiration that's free for 3 hours. Also, we didn't realize how big that place is, with so much to see! There are museums, places to eat, the zoo, a playground for kids and I'm sure so much more. The museums are not free, they do sell passes or individual tickets. It's a nice place to spend a day or even a few hours.

It's also an amazing place to walk your dog--I bring mine here all the time, and he absolutely loves all the open grass and the variety of paths we can explore. One of my favorite features is the set of stairs that lead up toward the residential areas and the dog park. If you take them all the way up, you're rewarded with really pretty views at the top, which makes the little climb totally worth it. Lately, with temperatures 10 to 19° above "normal average" - or maybe it's just the new normal - it's hard to recall the last time we got to experience a cool day. But here, the way the gazebos, tables, and benches are set up reflects a pretty severe case of denial that this is Southern California, and not quite within walking distance from the beach. It WILL get hot whenever it damn pleases, with or without notice. It did so in February already, in case you missed it. We came a few times for the farmers market. Both days were unfortunately " 80°F" her weather report, which in reality feels like 92°F, and we had to scramble to find a little bit of shade, so that we could eat our street food without passing out from heat stroke. We huddled awkwardly on the curb under a small tree. Other people passing by with food in their hands looked at us with envy. NOT A SINGLE PERSON sat on the readily available benches with tables, because they were in the blazing sun, yet lacked any shade. Never mind an umbrella, not even holes to put one in!! Denial much?? It's really sad, because it's a beautiful place. It just DESPERATELY needs more shade for the visitors to feel comfortable without clinging to trees or the bathroom walls.
