Paella is on par with the best paella I've had in Barcelona! The paella is a masterpiece, a showstopper that looks gorgeous and tastes divine! Made with a flavorful safrito, saffron and fresh herbs, every bite is flavorful, the rice moist, and the bottom layer gets that signature crispy layer, the most desired bite, the socarrat. For the past few years, the condo where I live hires Crown Paella for our summer social. They do an exceptional job from set up through clean up, providing top notch service. We usually have about 40 people attend and we order two types of paella: * Crown Royale - Chicken, mussels, clams, shrimp, chorizo, sweet peppers and rice. * Mercado - loaded with artichoke hearts, sweet red peppers, mushrooms, Romano beans corona beans and rice We also have salad which is dressed perfectly with a vinaigrette, the perfect complimentary side, and bread & butter. When I attended the first year, I immediately marked my calendar for the next year because I didn't want to miss the paella! It's that darn good! Highly recommend Crown Paella for any event where you are serving dinner and want to WOW your guests with an incredibly beautiful presentation and delicious & memorable food. Crown Paella creates an memorable experience, not just a meal. Crown Paella, please consider hosting pop-ups so I can have your amazing paella more than once a year! read more

AVOID THIS PLACE. By far the worst when it comes to communication. Pre-pandemic, we had to sometimes email Emily 2-3 times before getting a response weeks later. When we said we had to reschedule our wedding due to the COVID pandemic, they said that was fine and would send us an updated contract later...which we never got. Mind you, we even CONFIRMED the date for this year last August. We hadn't heard from them since then so we sent them an email yesterday to re-confirm the date...and their response? "Thank you for the message! At this point we are just operating at outdoor venues, and because of our smaller staff size we actually can't add any additional weddings to our roster for the summer or fall. It has been such a pleasure communicating with you two throughout your planning though-wishing you all of our best for a beautiful celebration!" We get that they're choosing to do only outdoor venues right now. But to send us such a generic email and to call our event "any additional weddings" despite confirming the date LAST YEAR is so rude. They didn't even bother saying "sorry". This just goes to show how it's so important to sign contracts...but honestly, we asked so many times for it and they never sent us anything. We heard their food was awesome but we wouldn't know. We don't know why our venue had them as a "preferred caterer" when they're horrible at communication and are so unprofessional. read more

I highly recommend their takeout, while they still have takeout. The Paella is absolutely amazing! The Sangria is a must, with a bottle of their sparkling water. We hope that they will continue the takeout option once this lockdown is over. It is more than worth the price. You get a full meal, that is incredible. We have ordered again, for the Saturday prior to Father's Day. This time I will post pictures. So yummy! read more

We worked with Emily and Scott for our fall wedding and from start to finish they were a dream to work with. They were organized and professional and made sure we had everything we needed. On the day of our wedding they both treated all of our guests like we were at their house for dinner. They were just amazing. They made sure we had everything we needed and checked in with us throughout the night. They even helped us with the final bit of dancing at the end of the night on the dance floor. If you are looking for a wedding caterer who is responsible, organized and talented, LOOK NO FURTHER. on top of that, your guests will be talking about the food for months to come! Thank you Emily and Scott! read more

Attended a post-harvest winery party recently at JK Carriere in Willamette Valley, OR. Crown Paella were the featured caterers for the event and everything from the passed apps of Jamon Serano & Figs and Pulled Pork sliders through to the 'Crown Royale' Paella were absolutely delicious. There were approximately 100 guests and every aspect of the event was beautifully executed. We were honored to be part of such an incredible evening. read more

Crown Paella catered our wedding, and it was an all-around amazing experience. I highly recommend CP! The paella itself is a tasty and notable experience that will make your event more memorable. On top of that, the salad, bread, and hor d'oeuvres are all delicious. - Paella scales really well to very large parties. Folks with experience ordering catering for 100+ people probably expect dry chicken or lukewarm beef; paella suffers from none of these issues. - Paella is also easy to flex around most dietary restrictions. (Always gluten free, easy vegan options, almost all common allergy foods are not in it, or easily omitted.) - CP is super flexible and you can make changes even just a few days before the event itself. Additionally, Emily was great to work with. She is incredibly capable at handling complex events, and she really went above and beyond. - She had a consultation meeting with me to make sure the specialty cocktails at our wedding were exactly what I want: she took vague words ("crisp, refreshing, something like snap peas, probably some citrus, but not too much. definitely not too sweet. just like balanced, you know? probably vodka???") and somehow made a cocktail that was exactly what I wanted. (The cocktail was a huge hit and everyone was raving about how great they were.) - We lost our wedding venue a little over a month prior to the event, and she helped a ton in the scramble to find a replacement venue. - She helped handle all the rentals and coordinated it with the venue to streamline the whole experience for us. Overall, the whole experience of working with CP was great: they were extremely helpful in a stressful "we-just-lost-our-venue" scramble in the weeks before, and, night of, everything went really smoothly. They helped make our wedding night perfect. Emily is incredibly capable and one of the most competent caterer, coordinator, all-around-everything-related-to-big-events person I've met. She's a little hard to reach several months before your event, but close to your event, she'll handle everything with aplomb and it will all go really, really well. read more

Where to begin?! We were absolutely thrilled with Crown Paella as our wedding caterer. We knew we wanted unique, tasty wedding food that wasn't the standard wedding fare, and BOY did these guys deliver. The paella and appetizers were all incredible, the drinks were tasty, and best of all, Emily and Scott Ketterman are a joy to work with and be around. Emily and Scott are the sweetest couple and we really enjoyed getting to know/hanging out with them at our tasting. They are both passionate about the food and it really shows. We felt like Emily became our friend throughout the planning process, which made it a real treat to have her around on the wedding day! She made sure we got to eat all of the appetizers and made sure both of us had drinks in hand. Emily also went far and above her job description when we had some trouble with another vendor. She took over the situation and made sure it was handled -- all the while making sure that I was doing okay in the process. We seriously love her. The food itself was astounding. Our guests (and my husband and I!) still can't stop talking about it a month later! The delicious smell of the paella cooking during cocktail hour, then the fun presentation, really added to the ambiance. and was exactly what we wanted out of our wedding food :) Of course, the signature drinks were also delicious! If we ever host a big party again, we will 100% come to Crown Paella for our catering needs. They're the best of the best. read more

They catered for a team event that my work had in Hood River. The paella was fabulous. They take no short cuts. It had the yummy burnt layer on the bottom(socarrat), and the seafood was delicious. It was moist, and the rice was cooked perfectly. They use plenty of saffron, which adds an excellent aroma that can't be beaten. Beside the paella, their sides are awesome. There were crostinis was aoili and octopus. 3 types of cheese. Fig, procioutto and blue cheese. Dessert was creme brulee which was also great; it had a very nice touch of orange. read more

Got to sample Crown Paella at Corks and Forks today, and it was really delicious! Most people were sampling foods that could sit long periods of time, like poke and salads. But their paella took a lot of effort and was complex and delicious. The seafood was fresh and not remotely fishy. I even liked the mussels, which are usually not my jam. I typically prefer clams. The rice was plump and not broken, and it had a beautiful crust on the bottom like paella is supposed to! The vegetarian version with morel mushrooms looked equally beautiful, but I was too embarrassed to go back for seconds after gobbling up my first portion. Highly recommend, I only wish they had a brick and mortar! read more

I'm planning an event for 40 people. Was very excited to hire Crown Paella. I filled out their online form. No response. I called many times and left messages. No return call. I stopped by their location on Burnside. I suspect that they saw the event of the event and knew they were busy. Would it have killed you to let me know? A return phone call maybe. That is no way to run a business. read more

If you're looking for a unique, visually stunning, and most importantly, an unforgettably delicious meal for your wedding, look no further than Crown Paella. it's been a month since our wedding and we still get compliments on how amazing the food and drinks were! When the huge paella plates were carried in you can feel the excitement from our guests. We got the Crown Royale and the Verdura paellas, a seasonal salad, bread, and some tapas. Everything was delicious. My husband and I also convinced the cocktails might be the best cocktails we've ever had, period! Emily and her team not only served us amazing food and drinks- they also handled most of our rentals from tables to linens to coat racks. During our 11 month wedding planning process Emily took care of any questions or requests that I sprung on her, making sure all the details were taken care of. They also had a huge part in making sure the event itself went off without a hitch- Emily even organized our sparkler exit at the end of the night! You might find it a little hard to get in touch with them at the beginning- I was relentless in calling and emailing to make sure I can book them- but Crown Paella is beyond worth it. I find myself thinking of parties I can throw just to have an excuse to have them cater! read more

We hired Crown Paella to cater our rehearsal dinner for approx 50 guests this August. Scott prepared the paella from scratch on the sidewalk outside and all the guests enjoyed watching the impressively large pans bubble up with goodness. The tapas were delicious and the peach cobbler at the end of the night was light and tasty. Emily was very professional and easy to work with from the time we first started corresponding with her. She coordinated all of the rentals we needed and did a great job with the set up to carry out our vision of the room. Emily was thoughtful about helping us stay within budget and offered creative suggestions about the layout of the room so we could maximize the offerings of our rental space. read more

Emily was amazing! She helped us plan our wedding including several site visits and phone calls. We ended up switching our venue last minute and she helped get everything done. Without her and her team we would have been in a tough spot. The food was incredible and the service is top notch. Thank you so much! Charles and Esther read more

Crown Paella is exceptional in every way. They are completely professional yet easy to work with. The paella is a marvel to behold and delicious. The tapas were wonderful. The back story is I had 90 people coming for a wedding rehearsal dinner when the restaurant went out of business less than a week before the event. Crown Paella took me on four days before the event, found another venue, handled all the table & linen rentals, worked with me to handle all the details, including preparing a special dinner for one of my guests--all with tremendous grace, ease and professionalism. My guests LOVED it. A great success thanks to Emily and her crew. read more

Scott and Emily prepared a very special birthday dinner for 12 at our place. Everything was fabulous -- extra special. Mouth-watering tapas, paella (prepared on site from scratch!) and a stunning dessert. We arranged for the sangria and the guests raved all night. All the food was an A+. Look forward to the next time and would highly recommend for any house party. read more

I think brides and grooms don't usually have fun at their receptions because there are so many details they have to think about. Emily and Scott were so organized and thoughtful about all the details that we actually had a wonderful time at ours. Everyone did. Our friends and family are still waxing poetic about the food (my dad especially, who is Spanish and hard to please)--how special it was--visually beautiful and incredibly delicious...how warm and gracious Emily, Scott and their staff were, how good their timing was. Everyone felt so good and taken care of. Crown Paella!!! read more

Crown Paella catered my wedding and did a fabulous job. Not only was the food and drink on point (that sangria! those steak bites! that duck confit!) but Emily was also such a warm, helpful person to work with. At times emails could be a little slow, but when it came time to make it happen, everything was flawless, so don't be discouraged! This team went above and beyond. Emily even helped us coordinate our rainy day plan, going as far as contacting our venue and ordering a tent and heaters for us! It made a stressful couple days of planning so much easier and everything went off smoothly and deliciously! read more

I have gotten the chance to work alongside Crown Paella a few times now on different weddings as a fellow vendor, and all I can say is that they are incredibly professional and DELICIOUS. Their product is incredible and they are a delight to work with. Emily is thorough and top of details, she is also a joy to work alongside on a wedding day! highly recommend. read more

Bottom line: The food prepared by Crown Paella is exquisite in taste and in presentation. We hired them for our wedding of 260 guests and people were delighted by the food. We felt very well taken care of on the day of the event. Emily came and found me and brought me a sangria to make sure I had a drink in my hand, two of the servers came and found my mom and independently brought her two pieces of the carrot cake that she had prepared as one of many wedding cakes. The staff was a lot of fun -- they capped the night with their own little dance circle rocking out to some of the tunes our DJ played. The only tiny little thing we heard from guests was that their plates were sometimes cleared too quickly...they had gotten up to talk to someone and wanted to come back and finish the rest of their food. But this might be more of a guest error type thing... like don't abandon you plate and expect it to still be there. I think it's important to know that if you hire Crown Paella, they will come through on the day of and do a really awesome job in terms of food, presentation and service. I was a little bit stressed out trying to communicate with Crown Paella throughout the planning process but I think knowing that they do such a great job with the end product can potentially help alleviate any stress that a potential customer may feel during the planning process. I try to be really organized and nail down details far in advance, especially since popular vendors get booked really early in the Portland area. I think what I learned through the process of planning the wedding is that there are certain elements, such as planning the food, which actually can't be 100% nailed down in advance since it's so dependent on the final guest count which was continuously changing, literally up until the day before the wedding. When I first reached out to CP about a year in advance of our August 2016 wedding, I heard back immediately but then when I tried to follow up, I didn't hear back for 4 weeks and ended up having our venue coordinator reach out to see if we could get details nailed down. Looking back on it now, I can see that they were probably immersed in the details of other summer weddings and were pretty swamped but at the time, it felt as if they didn't want our business. We also never had a contract with CP which definitely made me unnecessarily panicky at various points but in the end it all turned out beautifully. I hope this helps a future customer have some peace of mind and perspective. read more

We had the amazing crew of Crown Paella at our wedding in June and it was absolutely incredible. Truly the most professional, kindest, most gracious, most helpful and detail-oriented people creating a stellar product: beautiful and DELICIOUS paella. Everyone at the wedding commented on how it was not only the best food they had ever had a wedding, but some of the best experiences they'd had with food in general--I'm sure, in part, because the whole process is so dramatic and beautiful and it was all cooked in front of us at the wedding. They also managed some pretty incredible and creative problem-solving when 25 extra folks showed up without RSVPing....and all without me (the bride) even noticing. The little details that they managed were too many to even name, they truly thought of anything and everything that we needed. Crown made our wedding one-of-a-kind and it is with unabashed enthusiasm that I recommend them to absolutely anyone! read more
