To be honest, though Dr. Barton lacks in personality (he once told me to shhhhh....literally after…read moreasking a question that couldn't be answered by a nod and making me feel bad about it and of course, I'm thinking, don't ask me a question and then scolding me for trying to answer it to be polite, yikes) Anyway, he's an amazing Dentist and it's the best crown I have ever received. HE does deserve a full five stars, based on his work and craftsmanship and that is all I ask for, I'm not here to make friends with him. But today I was super upset, which is why there's three and not five stars: My daughter has now reached the age where she's no longer on my dental insurance and even though I was extremely clear on where we are, I was told by the front receptionist that she absolutely cannot do this appointment without having the "very important, super expensive full spectrum x-ray". Coming to find out, that is absolute BS. My daughter's teeth are perfect, she's not cavity prone and knowing that the receptionist who tried to book this expensive appointment is fully aware of all those details. Knowing that as well that there is not insurance or much of it, that should've never been "sold" to me, especially given the fact that I told her we no longer have insurance for her. I wanted to get her one more good dental check up before she moves to Seattle and we don't know how long it will be for her to find a good dentist there. So don't take me wrong. Dr. Barton, as far as his work and skills, is amazing!!!! But I am shocked and sad, his receptionist/ appointment maker is so incompetent and non caring. When I got home and I talked to my insurance, they actually called her themselves while I was on hold, to find out that yes, there are benefits paid from the regular insurance. As I tried to tell her, that I think they would. Sad that she insisted the appointment couldn't be w/o that extra expensive x-ray, that our insurance wouldn't cover anything, etc.... So in a nutshell. I am outraged. You need a great dentist, Dr Barton is still your guy (I do not want to add insult to injury). If you need your teeth cleaned, his dental assistants are amazing (I am sad I can not remember the name of mine because she is soooo good and thorough). But boy, if you need an appointment, just be sure you are not sold on services you don't need. Greed is a sad betrayer. I am very disappointed and at this time grateful for my insurance (GEHA) for straightening the front desk person out. For that she made me feel I could not book this appointment for my kid w/o the (Not needed $300) x-ray!!!! OUTRAGED

If I focus strictly on the quality of the dental work itself, I was satisfied. Unfortunately, my…read moreexperience with this office was overshadowed by serious concerns about their business and billing practices. Several months after my treatment, I was contacted and told that my insurance had denied the claim and that I now owed over $1,200 in additional charges, on top of the $700 I had already paid as a copay. After investigating with my insurance carrier, I learned that the denial occurred because the office failed to obtain a required prior authorization. Under the provider's contract with my insurance, for the procedure I received, my patient responsibility was $0. In other words, I did not legally or contractually owe anything beyond what insurance covered. Despite this, the office aggressively attempted to collect additional payment from me. Because my patient responsibility was zero, the $700 I paid was an overpayment that was only refunded after continued dispute. According to my insurance carrier, these collection attempts constituted a violation of the provider's contract. It was deeply troubling to be pressured to pay for a mistake that was not mine. I carry insurance specifically to avoid situations like this, and it is unacceptable for a provider to shift their administrative errors onto patients. While the clinical care was fine, I cannot recommend this office due to its handling of billing issues. Patients should be able to trust that insurance is processed correctly and that they will not be pressured into paying charges they do not owe.
