BBQ burger

We went to Lindsborg KS on a Friday and decided to eat at Crown and Rue for lunch. We all got hamburgers. They were amazing. My sister got the beet salad. She loved it so much she tried to get the recipe! The service was beyond great. They took care of our every need and talked to us about the area They also have pies and cookies.

Butternut Squash & White Bean Soup of the day!

Food was DELICIOUS!! Service is IMPECCABLE! Ambiance is laid-back & had good vibes! I had the grilled lemon chicken sandwich & a butternut squash/white bean soup with slithers of greens and a touch of rosemary & oregano! My hubby had the dinner size hamburger & fries were yummy!!! This is our spot anytime we visit Lindsborg. Go Swedes!

The food was delicious and the waiter was friendly to the point that it gives a vibe of a small-town charm. I had the cabbage roll and the yellow pea soup.

Fall wrap, had chicken and almonds and butternut squash puree. Side of zucchini and squash.

We ate at crown and rye when we were in town for a bb game. The restaurant was crowded as there was some Christmas thing going on in town . We noticed there was 2 large parties, there. However, we waited almost 30 mins for our food and it seemed as if our waiter forgot about us. It wasn't until we mentioned what's going on with our food that he came out immediately with our food. Members of my party had a fairly simple order. 3 of us ordered a wrap or cold sandwhich, one ordered a patty melt and another a salad. Just SLOW SLOW service.

Mahi mahi

The food was excellent. I enjoyed the mahi mahi with a delightful toasted coconut rice. We would have been happy to linger a little longer on a date night but speedy service is nothing to complain about!

This Lindsborg icon has gone through several iterations over the past decade and the last time I was here it was still under the name "The Swedish Crown" so I was eager to see how "Crown and Rye" differed. Upon walking in you still have a very similar ambiance, it's upscale, but also really homey at the same time. Honestly, I do think the interior of this restaurant could be upgraded a bit and really lean into the more elegant side of this place. It would be nice to have some true fine dining in Lindsborg and I feel like this place is so close to making that a reality. The wait staff is almost always Bethany College students and they did a great job this time - they were attentive and friendly, also got our drinks out fairly fast. The menu is still traditional Swedish with American fare mixed in, so it has a lot to offer the whole family. I ordered some kind of traditional sausage dish and it was really tasty! Overall it's a great option if you are looking for someplace that caters to the Swedish theme of the town and has good food. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting Lindsborg, and it's always in our rotation when we are in town.

Food was fast and good. Steak came out not to correct temp... but fixed. House vinaigrette and the sweet chipotle on pork chop was excellent. If we enjoyed desserts- definitely would have had many to choose from.

Waited 15 mins to get our drink order taken...I'm pretty sure that's only because I waived down a waitress.

Start to finish, a spectacular experience... Get the steak, get the burger, try the appetizers as our party did (and we will be back)

Amazing service. The food is great. The ham in the eggs Benedict is really good! The apple crisp and ice cream was the star of the show.

Aghhhhh! It's a lot. I spent a lot of time just staring at the menu, trying to figure out what I wanted. I landed on the Korean Tacos, which is marinated beef bulgogi, red peppers, scallions, peanuts, wontons and gochujang sauce, all in soft flour tortillas. You get two tacos in each order. They were good but very sweet! I wasn't a fan of the flour tortilla. The people at my table ordered a couple of appetizers -- one of which I loved. The fried burrata was a big ball of cheese hanging out in a dish of vodka sauce, topped with cashew pesto, parm and served with crostini. It was lovely, and I wish I would have just ordered this and ate it all myself. We sat outside on the outdoor patio, which I would not recommend during the summer. There were so many flies! The restaurant did have some fan-things they put on the tables to shoo the flies away, but they only did so much. Next time, I think I'll just sit inside.

I wouldn't call Ol Stuga a dive bar, but I also wouldn't not call it a dive bar. It's definitely not fancy or trendy. This is not the place to get a glass of wine. (I'm not entirely sure they even have any wine.) They don't have any local beer on tap. But that's not Ol Stuga's fault -- Kansas isn't really a craft beer state, I've learned. Bud Lite and domestics are what you'll find here, mostly. One of the first things you'll notice when you walk into Ol Stuga is all of the money on the ceiling. I sat at the bar, next to a guy who seemed like a regular. I asked the guy why there were so many dollar bills stuck to the ceiling of the bar. He told me, and unfortunately for you, I don't remember what he said because there was alcohol involved. If you want to know why there is money on the ceiling of Ol Stuga, you'll just have to visit and find out for yourself. They have a few things on tap here, and I got a fruity beer from Missouri. I wanted something "local," and Missouri was the most local place that Ol Stuga had on tap. The beer was really good -- light and refreshing. Later, I told some locals that I had visited Ol Stuga, and they high-fived me and asked, "Did they treat you OK?" I was like, "Um, yeah? Why?" And they said that sometimes fights break out every once in a while. I didn't see any fights while I was there, unfortunately, but everyone at OS was great and I had a great time.

Eric R. and I talked about a day trip on a Sunday, but alas, Three Rings is not open on Sundays. Eric R. had the Storm the Castle bike race this past Saturday, so I agreed to join him in McPherson for the weekend so I could specifically go here! I first discovered Three Rings at Manhattan's Brew at the Zoo, which I went to every year until COVID. After that, it moved from August to later in the Fall and I am never here for it. I am not sure exactly when I first tried it, but my notes from the 2019 event show that Three Rings' Wanderlust was a favorite. I purchased cans of Wanderlust ever since, but there was a shortage in the past year and after going to six liquor stores, I had to get it in Lawrence an hour and a half away! I cannot remember when this was, but the owner and his dad came to lead an event at JP's in the K-State Union for beer and food pairings. It was so fun. Finally I get here and Eric R.'s race registration came with a free beer. The very awesome staff said we could do a flight of 5, but we wanted to try 6, and she was still cool with that! So we tried six beers: Fields of Gold (wheat), Yankee Rose (blonde), Wanderlust (red), Vertigo (IPA), Bulldog (oatmeal stout), and Acres Wild (farmhouse ale/saison). We loved talking with everyone at the bar, both next to us and behind the bar. We chatted with the owner/brewer, and another staff member who also has a creative writing background. Numerous people there were Texans like us, and we had a lot of area connections. A food truck outside was closing and brought us free fries, which was an unexpected bonus! We bought 3 6-packs: Wanderlust, Acres Wild, and Broadsword (dark Scotch ale). On the way out was an afternoon farmers market where we bought freshly picked green beans to make for dinner that night. It was a perfect place to hang out and I definitely want to return! Also, we learned there is no "fear" in McPherson and to just call it MacTown!
