Great beer and service, but food is just ok. We stopped in at Blue Skye for dinner when we were road-tripping through Salina. The vibe is very friendly and warm, lots of folks, but we were seated right away. Our waiter was extremely nice and service was very prompt. The decor is very cute, with chalkboard quotes from different songs throughout the place. The beer is really the standout at this microbrewery and several unique and creative ones are on tap. I ordered the jalapeño cream ale, which came in an adorable jar and was excellent, with a true jalapeño flavor. We ordered the totchos with pulled pork and the hot honey pizza, and neither was great. The pizza in particular lacked flavor and the dough tasted more like cracker than pizza. Recommend stopping by for the beer, but I would skip the dinner here. read more

First time eating at Blue Skye Brewery and it will not be the last. Had the appetizer pizza then the tumbleweed burger and onion rings. Hubby also had the tumbleweed burger. We stopped by to pick up a pizza for dinner. The service was prompt and it took about 20 minutes for the pizza. This place is normally a bar. The seating is confusing. I'm never sure whether to just seat myself or wait to be seated. NEVER go on Sunday. The place is packed, and you'll stand there waiting forever to find a table. Most of the food is just okay. When they started, they had some amazing apps, like scotch eggs, and really wonderful eclectic egg rolls - but now it's just rather boring. Their burgers, as others have noted, seem preformed and almost always overcooked. The fries can be hit or miss as to whether they'll be soggy and cool, or crispy and hot. But their fish and chips are incredible. Huge hunks of well battered and hot white fish, served with an amazing tartar sauce. And if you're lucky the chips will be on the hot and crispy side. The pizza is also good, but you take your chances with getting it hot or cool. The crust is great and the toppings can be good - but it all depends on how busy the place is. The busier - the greater the chance of both cool food being delivered and really scattershot service. The beer, however, is consistently delicious. My favorite is their stout - nice and flavorful and very deliciously creamy. Some of their seasonal brews are with sampling, especially in the fall. The service, as I mentioned, is a lot like the food. You roll the dice as to whether you'll get someone who will honestly take care of you - or someone just in a rush to get through their shift. read more

Four of us stopped in for dinner and the placed was packed on this Thursday evening. There's no hostess so you seat yourself and we were able to find a spot quickly enough as our server was just clearing a table. Taylor was very knowledgable about the menu and all of the beers, so she was a great help. (Both beers that I had were excellent!) Our food was very good, but the fries I had with my burger and my wife had with her fish and chips were only warm, not hot. I ordered my cheeseburger with bacon but it showed up at the table without and it was served without any tomato or onion either--not sure if that's how they do it or it was an oversight. We came in for brunch and OMG both meals we got were amazing. I got the chicken and waffles, which had this great layering of sweet and savory. The waffles had a little icing drizzled over them, the fried chicken was cut up and perfectly cooked, and the whole meal was topped with candied pecans that were just chefs kiss perfect. I didn't think you could top my meal, but my husband got the chicken and biscuits, which were just as good but in an entirely different way. His was much more savory, topped with a crema sauce and pico, as well as the same flavorful cheese that they use on the pizzas. The blonde beer was just so so, although I thought my pineapple mimosa was good. Wouldn't go back for the beer- nothing in my style preference. Maybe there are summer beers might suit me better. The food made up for this lack in spades. Service was friendly and quick. Overall, a wonderful meal and I would absolutely be back to try their pizzas or do brunch again! read more

Another great visit to this little brewery. Our family of four had a delicious dinner en route to Colorado. We started with the the pretzel sticks with cheese, which are always delicious. I had the Boulevard Tropic Slam which I highly recommend. My son and I shared the bacon chicken ranch pizza and I also shared the salad with cranberries, goat cheese, and pecans. My husband had the fish and fries and gave it a very high rating. I had a bite and agreed with his assessment of the breading--kind of tasted like a funnel cake.
