One decision I was confident I wouldn't regret. During the funeral, they kept everything organized and were graceful and professional even when their patience was tested. I went to two other funeral homes in the area, and while both were perfectly pleasant and nice, it was Zac Clayton and his staff (everyone from the guy giving directions to the pallbearers, making sure everyone had buttonnieres, etc., to the young lady giving instructions to the cemetery workers (South Park Cemetery)) who a) never made us feel like we were pressured into 'buying up' to a 'better' model of casket or container; b) were totally - TOTALLY - transparent about prices and fees; c) took care to ensure that EVERY necessary detail was addressed (flowers, prayer cards, finding a priest who could perform a service at the funeral home when there was a schedule conflict with the church, etc.) either by Clayton or by the family; d) had pricing that was more than fair on the services and items needed for the burial; and e) were just all-around super nice, comforting, helpful, and made you feel like they were helping out family and friends that they had known for years. Honestly, do yourself a favor, shop around if you want to, but GO to these guys and give them a listen. You will be SO GLAD afterwards that you did. BTW - everything about the service was lovely - the flowers (done in house by Clayton), the service by our borrowed priest (thank you Father Jim!), the slideshow of photos and music (photos / music supplied by family, edited into presentation by Clayton and displayed flawlessly by the Clayton folks on their big screen using their a/v equipment. Most of my family is buried here and I find this place pretty nice with the way they are setup with the different garden names. I'm always amazed at how many new rows of graves get added during each visit. It helps me remember where my final resting place will be before meeting my Lord. I feel the staff here are very kind and helpful. Recently I was stuck when I locked my keys in the car. I called the front office and they sent the gravedigger to my rescue, and he helped me unlock the car. During my wait time I thought of how the folks who have passed are in their graves with no escape, but if I could get back inside my vehicle I could drive off and either do more good or bad in life. These moments seem to help me remember my mission in life...to be good, help others, and worship my Creator as he instructed me to. There are a mixture of different gardens for different faiths which is always enlightening. Garden #9 is where most of my loved ones rest. I go here to find peace and pray for them and it helps me to remember death. Many people may disagree with my previous statement, but being reminded is good. Remember that if you feel the need to contemplate the graveyard is a great place. It should not be thought of as a depressing place, but as a place where we will eventually go before meeting our Maker. Take a seat on a bench in the garden and reflect on your life. Like are we joking rn? I'm flabbergasted cause why tf are you trying to charge me a cancellation fee on something i only agreed to ONE TIME SERVICE??? And then charge me for a second service i didn't even receive. SO basically the billing guy told us we had Two options either pay the $200 cancellation fee or set up an appointment for someone to come out and do the service and not get refunded our money! I cannot overstate how smooth our experience was with Peevey Funeral and Cremation (FORMERLY Niday…read moreFuneral Home). My dad had been ill for a while, so before he passed away, we had already met with Phillip Peevey to discuss arrangements and make some decisions ahead of time. When my dad left us earlier this month, Phillip was comforting, prepared, and so helpful. He assisted us in not only choosing a casket and making cremation arrangements, but communicated on our behalf with the church where my dad would have his services held (the Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church). His familiarity with the church's preferences on funeral arrangements meant that every step of the way, Phillip had answers to the questions we asked (I am quite confident he has similar relationships with other churches as well -- he is kind and thoughtful and a pleasure to work with). He knew the priests at the church well and was able to call them himself to confirm dates and times while we were in meetings with him. The facilities at Peevey were lovely and we felt so comfortable hosting our visitation there -- our friends and family who came to pay their respects to my dad loved that we were able to display awards and recognitions of my dad's that were meaningful to all of us, and the screens in the main chapel allowed us to show a rolling slideshow of photos that we loved. At every step of the way, Phillip looked out for our family to ensure we were able to do for my dad what he had wished to be done. He was personally present at the visitation, at the church for funeral services, and accompanied my dad and my family to the cremation center after the services were concluded. Phillip was considerate, respectful, and made the difficult process as easy as we could ever have hoped. The staff at Peevey were equally respectful and a pleasure to work with. There is no other place I could have imagined helping us through the farewell process we were able to give my dad that would have offered us more dignity and kindness.
