This is one of those classic Vietnamese-style 'French' bakeries. Fittingly, the bread is largely white, sugary and inordinately fluffy, so if that's your thing, that's OK. They are lacking in bread varietals however and seem to have very little concept of sourdough and spelt bread making techniques, so don't really cater for the allergy affected amongst us.
On the up side, Crosta D'Ora have one of those classic bay marie lunch bars with chicken skewers and fried rice. From my experience, the rice is overly salty (though it may have been the batch) though the fresh filled rolls they do are well stacked with flavoursome goodies. The price structures here are cheap for High Street, so if squeezing pennies is your thing, they're for you. Otherwise, you'd argue there are many superior bread sellers in the area, but that's a matter of whether you like your bread made with a healthy handful of white, or whether you go for the crustier, Mediterranean types. read more
