Crosswinds was very clean, well maintained, and a bargain; the opposite of most beachfront discount motels. The staff I dealt with over the phone were very friendly and helpful. If you don't mind the 1/2 mile walk to the beach (or perhaps the bus that runs by your front door), it is golden. read more

Very affordable and clean hotel about 15 minutes from the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, and just 5 minutes from the convention center, which was perfect when I was in the area to speak at a conference. It's also right next door to the Dogfishhead restaurants and bottle shop, and across the street from Starbucks... so you really have everything you need. Their front desk is only staffed until 5pm, but they left me a detailed voicemail with how to check in after 5 using a code for my room's lockbox, where they'd left me a key. They mentioned an after-hours phone service, but luckily I didn't have to utilize that. There is plenty of parking available free to patrons, some of which is even covered. My room was very clean, especially compared to some other area hotels I've stayed in, and well equipped with a refrigerator, a Keurig with a few different coffee options, plenty of towels, and nicely scented lavender mint toiletries. I think my biggest complaint is that the door to my room needed a little extra oomph to open and close, but that was definitely not a big deal (though perhaps disruptive to my neighbors). read more

My daughter and I stayed at this wonderful hotel 5/26-5/28/24. The room is big and roomy with very comfortable beds and everything is extremely clean. The most important is that the location is great, this hotel is very safe, and it is within walking distance to restaurants and shopping in a quaint town. Lots of parking. Everyone we came into contact with at this hotel is extremely nice and accommodating. The breakfast that is included is very good - hot items and continental style choices. I love the extra touches in the room such as "bear" towel racks. When we were checking in, I heard the person at the counter offer "free bear spray that you can borrow and return" which was awesome since I purchased bear spray for $50. Would have been a nice perk to use. The drive to Yellowstone National park is about 30-40 minutes away (depending on traffic) but an absolute beautiful drive each day. Decent motel with excellent service in Rehoboth Beach. My wife and I decided to take a spur-of-the-moment overnight trip to Rehoboth. I looked up hotels in Rehoboth Beach on Yelp and the few options available were either booked or required 3 night stays. So I resorted to using another review site which shall not be named and began calling from #1 down. I ended up at Crosswinds Motel, which was #4 on the list, and they had one room left. They do require a minimum stay, it was after all the end of the summer season, but since they only had one room left, they were willing to take us for one night. She even gave us a 10% discount, which was an unexpected, but definitely welcome surprise. Location - Located just across the street from the Cultured Pearl, the website says it's 3 blocks to the boardwalk. I'm not really sure how long a city block is, but it took us about 15-20 minutes to get down to the boardwalk, so my guess is it was a little less than a mile. Cloud 9, Summerhouse, Fins, Dogfish, and Cultured Pearl are all very close, and there are enough shops to look at that the walk down to the boardwalk doesn't seem overly long. There aren't very many parking spaces, so each room is given one parking space. The main lobby is very tiny and located apart from the rooms. Several other notes: 1) I only noticed one room on the first floor and I didn't see an elevator, so I wouldn't recommend this location for those in wheelchairs or have general disdain for taking the stairs. 2) Non-smoking - YAY! The designated smoking areas are located near the stairs, so you have to walk by. Boo! 3) Paid Wi-Fi = no Yelping in your room Service - the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable of good places to eat in the area. Room - the room was clean and typical of most motels. There was a small, flat screen TV but the reception for many of the stations was poor, but we don't watch much TV so that wasn't a big deal. They provided plenty of towels and there's a hair dryer in your room. The beds were fairly comfortable but the pillows weren't too great and the top flat sheet felt like high grit sandpaper. My two gripes with the room: 1) Not very soundproof. We were located right next to the stairs, so every time people went out for a smoke, we heard their entire conversation. 2) The condition shampoo was terrible. I have pretty thick hair, so the texture of my hair ranges from brillo pad to slightly softer brillo pad. In fact, I once broke a clipper at hair cuttery b/c the guy improperly lubricated it. But I digress. This shampoo made my hair feel like a used brillo pad - ungood. My wife commented that it seemed like dishwashing detergent. So unless you want huge knots/tangles, I'd recommend bringing your own shampoo. Overall, a great motel in Rehoboth Beach. I would definitely recommend this place for those looking for a basic room, who don't mind walking, and would rather be located closer to the nice restaurants. For those that don't want to walk and would rather be closer to the boardwalk, I'd recommend the Atlantis Inn. read more

I went here in Summer 2011 but I just thought about doing a review. This motel is excellent, the price was great ($200 for 3 nights), the staff was super friendly, the location was good for what I wanted and the room was nice. This hotel is about 2 blocks away from the beach which was fine with me because it wasn't as loud as a hotel on the beach might be. The walk wasn't bad for me or my 4 and 6 year old boys. Each room has a Keurig coffee machine which is a nice little touch to have. They have free Wi-Fi but it wouldn't work no matter what I tried to do,but most of the time I could just tap into Starbucks' which is right across the street. (SHHHH don't tell them!) I'm already looking at prices for this year so we can go back. read more

This motel has a fantastic location. We were here for one night and we were happy to see that it was located right next to Dogfish Head. The price was very, very reasonable. The room was clean and the toiletries were great. They use BeeKind soaps which I found impressive. Unfortunately, a few things were not so great. The blanket on the bed was not thick at all so were pretty cold all night. Also, you can hear absolutely everything that goes on outside your door and the room over. There is a door inside your room that connects to the motel room next to it. The bottom lock didn't work, but the deadbolt did. We didn't sleep so great, but we would give it another try because of the great location and cleanliness of the room. read more

Room-eeeh..there was air conditioner mold residue blown all over the nearby bed when we arrived. Also the light in the bathroom was out, which in the extremely SMALL bathroom, made it impossible to function in there. Rooms have mini fridge and decent cable channels. Great motel. Very affordable, great location right next to Dogfish Head and across from a beautiful rooftop sushi place. About a 7 minute walk to the beach. If you have a lot of stuff to carry, you'll probably want to drive up the block but otherwise it's a really nice walk through this little surf town and shops. The staff are really nice and the rooms are comfortable, clean and bright with up to date features like flat screen TVs and usb chargers in the outlets. Bathrooms and vanity area are stocked well with eco-friendly toiletries and towels. Really cute. I would not stay any where else at this point. read more

I wanted to take a 24 hour trip into Rehoboth, and needed a inexpensive but reasonable place to stay. The Crosswinds Motel was the perfect find, and did much better than being just "reasonable". Rita at the front desk was extremely welcoming as soon as I entered the office, and gave me the rundown of the place. She gave me great suggestions on food, and the best tips for the beach. She also very kindly moved some things around in the computer to allow me the chance for a second night, if I chose. I was very thankful for her helpfulness, and loved that she gave me an option to stay again if needed. She also offered a teacher discount, which is always a plus! I was pretty impressed with the actual room. The space was big enough, had 2 comfortable beds, and a great bathroom. The entire place had new / updated furniture. There were plenty of towels and toiletries available, and the quality of the soaps was higher than I expected. Not a huge deal, but it shows the attention to detail! The location of the motel is close enough to everything, but far enough away that you can breathe from the constant movement of Rehoboth Ave. There are tons of great places within 3-5 mins, and everything else is within 10. I will definitely be checking with Crosswinds next time I come down. I almost extended this time just based off he great service. read more

In reading the existing reviews for Crosswinds, I feel that there is very little I could add. Everyone pretty much nailed it. Clean, cozy, affordable, great staff, next to Dog Fish, not too far from the beach ( but still a hike when carrying all of the necessary gear), quiet, accomodating,...I think I covered it all. My only separate input would be that I attempted to get a room online about 5 days before my trip. I was only able to get 1 night ( i wanted 2). I thought it was odd that I didnt receive any email conformation of my purchase, so I called Crosswinds 2 days before the trip. They had no record of my reservation!!! My heart sank. Im not sure which staff member I spoke to, but she was amazingly helpful and was able to get me not only the exact room I wanted, but the exact room I wanted...for 2 nights. It worked out well and I was really pleased. The wi-fi thing. I noticed that a Crosswindsguest option popped up, but I never got around to asking about it. Through other reviews I see you have to pay for it ( note: may not be the most reliable source,) Wifi is becoming an amenity thats almost as important, nay, more important than a TV. This place goes to 5 star if that happens. Like others, I was able to pick up Starbucks wifi when it was open, but I had to be sitting in a certain place in the room and oddly, I had to be naked. My husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay here. They have keycards with microchips so that they can not be demagnetized! Very courteous staff and the room was very clean. I enjoyed the decor in the room, a nice blend between contemporary and beach. The bathroom was a little snug, but there was a makeup mirror that I could bring out in the main room to finish my prep while Brandon took over the sink area. There is a Keurig Machine for coffee! I really enjoyed the Bee Kind soap and body wash, my husband had no complaints about the shampoo. The adirondack chairs were nice for coffee in the mornings. There is wifi avaliable. Grub grocery is right across the street with some snacks, a deli counter, and one of those free library spaces (take a book, leave a book). We will be staying here again. read more

It's right on Rehoboth Avenue, about a 15 minute walk from the beach, and it's across the street from a grocery store and right next door to Dogfish Head Brewpub. We stay here everytime we visit Rehoboth, for 5 years now. Attracted at first by their great rates, we keep coming back because the rooms are beautiful, the staff is fantastic, and it's literally next door from our favorite brewery, Dogfish Head, but still just a short walk to the beach. There are slightly different sized rooms, all well sized, some with seats and a table by the window, some with a double vanity, and they are recently renovated so they are really some of the nicest rooms I've stayed in. It's a welcoming atmosphere. I love sitting with a book on an Adirondack chair at the end of the balcony and facing east to watch the sky change at sunrise or sunset, then walking next door to have the best beer around. Definitely don't hesitate to stay hear just because it's not a hotel or right on the beach, I'm sure you'll be very happy. read more

No, it's not the nicest place in town, but it's affordable, within walking distance to the beach (it took us like 10 minutes) and the staff is super nice. To the management of the Crosswinds Motel, My wife reserved a room for us for two nights at your motel for the evenings of Saturday July 26th and Sunday the 27th. This was to be an all too brief vacation for the two of us as we have done virtually every year for more than a decade (My wife has been staying with you for nearly two decades). I believe that tradition has most likely come to an end as well as our enthusiastic endorsement and recommendation of the Crosswinds to family and friends. After we checked in Saturday afternoon (yesterday) we took a brief nap as we had a very early morning and late evening the night before. We were awoken by loud music around 4 (which I originally believed was coming from the street). Upon opening the door (Room 310) we realized it was our neighbors (309), a group of teens/twenty-somethings who were playing extremely loud music out on the balcony and were obviously commencing their day of partying. As sound generally does not travel much into the rooms at your motel the sound level had to be quite excessive to have woken us in our rooms. We should have realized the inevitable outcome and cancelled right then and there and left. Unfortunately we hoped it was an isolated incident and left for dinner and an evening on the boardwalk. We returned around 11 and retired for the evening, looking forward to a couple more days at Rehoboth. Sometime between 1 and 1:30 in the morning we were awakened (as I can't imagine many others at the Motel weren't also awakened) by the sound of a very large group of drunken kids screaming, singing at a partying scream level and running back and forth along the 3rd floor balcony into and out of the rooms. It was at this point I realized we were actually bookended by this party as they were apparently in rooms 309 and 311 (at least). We tried to remain hopefully patient for it to subside to no avail. After a good half hour in exasperation we tried to call the front desk (no one at all is available through the night at the motel?). We then called the police. Sometime later there was a lot of shuffling of the kids running to the different rooms as the police apparently must've driven by or into the parking lot (by now it is after 2 in the morning). This lowered the rabble for a short time which then quickly began escalating again presumably after the police left. Sometime later (probably around 3 in the morning) we called the police again as the ruckus was unceasing and again escalating and there was no possibility of sleeping through it. The policeman at the other end of the line made clear his aggravation with us calling about this but fortunately did finally send out officers who then came to the parties rooms. I can't imagine we were the only occupants who called the police though we were the ones who were roomed between the parties and I'm sure bore the brunt of the episodes. After a long chat between the police and the rooms (I'm assuming this was around 3:30 or so at this point) the police finally left and the noise reduced to a rumbled din. This was with the exception of a good half an hour or more of them banging on the adjacent wall between their room and ours I presume to 'punish' us for having spoiled their partying. I presume having seen our lights going on and off they naturally (and rightfully) deduced we were the ones who had called the police. Needless to say we got no sleep last night and decided to return home first thing in the morning as this was a completely intolerable environment to stay in. We didn't realize we had booked a room in the middle of a frat party. As I've said, we've stayed at your establishment nearly every year for over a decade and always found the motel clean, quiet and friendly but an episode like this is one I will not chance repeating. We felt prisoner in our rooms as we couldn't even step out to the balcony to have a cigarette to help alleviate the aggravation and frustration of enduring such rudeness, ignorance and unpleasantness without stepping into the maw of a large, loud group of extremely intoxicated and hyped up group of drunks. Finally it should be said that there should be someone available at all hours at any motel/hotel in the event of disturbances and problems. No one being available to help control such a situation between 12 at night and 9 in the morning is not acceptable. We appreciate being refunded for today (Sunday evening) as our vacation was already ruined without chance of relaxation, but we should be refunded for the night we did stay under such unfortunate and unacceptable conditions. Personally as long standing repeated patrons to the Crosswinds Motel and as someone who has worked in management for many years I believe the Crosswinds Motel should not only refund us for our entire stay but should in some way attempt to compensate us for such a horrible unpleasant experience. I've stayed at Crosswinds multiple times, and each time has been consistently great. They offer great rates considering they are just a few minutes from the beach and the rooms are spacious. The staff is attentive to details and friendly- from the cleaning staff to the front desk. Not only are they attentive, but they genuinely try to offer you the best deal and service. I had an issue with my reservation and had to contact them about it, but they resolved it immediately and offered me a discount, too. This went above and beyond, because it was such a minor issue and they were so prompt and kind about resolving it, but it only cemented my glowing opinion of Crosswinds. I plan on making a trip to Crosswinds at least annually. Great location. Clean and spacious rooms. The staff is on point. And the value can't really be beaten. read more

They have Keurig machines in the rooms - fantastic and a mini fridge even! Reasonably price given the location - and only 3 blocks from the beach. They werent open in the morning when we went for checkout at 10am. it was mothers day, so i'm not sure if that had anything to do with it?? We had to leave our keys in the mailbox. The two big things that sold us on the hotel are 1) that it's cheaper than pretty much any other place in the area, and 2) that it's literally next store to Dogfish Head. Overall, we had an awesome experience. The staff were friendly and had great restaurant and shopping recommendations, they let us park in the lot before check-in and after check out for a bit, since it's literally a ten minute walk from the beach. The room was clean, with a flat screen TV, nice shower, and nice coffee maker. Hair dryer and ironing board in room. Even without wifi, I was Yelping on my smart phone, so I wasn't worried about paying for access. Beach motels are going to be spendy no matter what, but I'd say this was a great value with great service, and like another review said, it's not pretentious at all. You'll get a clean, non-sketchy room for much less than any other place on the strip, and you're still so close to the beach! Reserve your room now, and lock it down, you won't regret it! read more

Stayed for a few days. Clean, comfortable bed, seemed recently redone. They let us charge our electric car on a wall outlet in the stairwell next to the first parking spot in the lot. We gained about 4 miles of range an hour, which allowed us to explore the area without having to find a charging station. read more

Crosswinds is the best value I've ever found for a hotel. The hotel is clean and updated. It is located on Rehoboth Avenue and food, shops, spa, the beach, and bike rental are all within walking distance. Dogfish Head's brewpub is within 200 feet. The walk to the beach takes about 10 minutes but is a nice walk down Rehoboth Avenue. With the location, updates, and price, I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Really very few complaints. The staff, Jessica and Rita were courteous and happy to help. I did have difficulty with wifi in our room, 201. After six calls to the office, I gave up. Coverage was sporadic. The room was clean. It felt like new sheets and new pillows, no odor. No bugs inside. Only one of their ice machines worked, of course it was on the other side of the complex on the third floor. It wasn't noisy overnight as some have reported. The office is closed overnight but there is an emergency number posted in case it was needed. Three loooong blocks to the beach. We didn't walk it. We would return again. Prices were under $190 per night per room. We had two doubles. Keurig coffee and maker in each room and plenty of shampoo and body wash. Management, if u r reading this, please get better soaps for guests. The half dollar size soap doesn't cut it. Thanks! read more

Good place! The rooms are small, efficient, and clean, with wood floors to accommodate easy cleaning for all those returning to rooms after time on the beach. (Or at least, that's how I saw it.) The location is excellent, right on the main drag of shops and restaurants, beside Dogfish Head and several other restaurants and bars within a block or two (let alone all the others within 5-6 blocks), and a 15-minute-or-so walk from the beach. The staff is warm and friendly. There's plenty of parking in the off-season, although I don't know how crowded it might get in the summer, especially if people were sharing rooms but not carpooling. It's noisy being right on Rehoboth Ave., but not awful. (It is Rehoboth Ave. after all!) read more

I stayed at the Crosswinds Motel in May this year. It was very affordable and in a great location (right next to dog fish head on the main drag). The rooms were very clean and had a refrigerator and a flat screen tv. They do not have staff working 24 hours/day and I think that partly contributes to the lower prices, however, the owner gave me her personal cell phone number and said if i had any problems I could call her anytime. I would recommend requesting a 1st floor room if you have trouble climbing steps. I did not notice an elevator and I stayed on the 3rd floor. I would highly recommend staying at the Crosswinds while in Rehoboth. If you are looking for a very fancy hotel this may not be your place though. read more

We stayed at the Crosswinds for 2 nights. We wanted something that was close to Dogfish Head and within a few blocks to the beach. The Crosswinds Motel is right next door to Dogfish and Finbar's Tavern and a short walk to the beach. It's clean, convenient and inexpensive. Everyone was very friendly and while our room was pretty small, there were nice touches, such as the Keurig coffee maker and makeup remover wipes. This motel is in great location since its within walking distance of Rehoboth board walk, is clean, and has parking spaces. The staff has been very friendly during our stay. The motel even has nice amenities such as a Kurieg coffee maker, mini fridge, and iPod dock. If we are in the area, we definitely will stay here again. My boyfriend and I stayed here back in June and I highly recommend it. The room was very clean and the water pressure was excellent. These two things are important to me. There is so much to do in Rehoboth Beach and this motel was perfect distance from everything. We were just a few blocks from the boardwalk/beach. They also are located right next to Dogfishhead Brewery which is an amazing brewery/distillery/restaurant! When we were checking out of Crosswinds, the owner asked if we were heading home right away or staying in Rehoboth for the day. We were staying for the day and she was kind enough to suggest we leave our car parked in the motel parking lot since the parking everywhere else is so expensive. I didn't even think to ask her this so I was very happy with her generosity. I definitely will be going back there again. read more

The only thing holding me back from a Five-Star is the absence of a microwave in the room; however, that notwithstanding, this is one of the cleanest, best staffed and maintained beach motels I've ever been to. Rita at the reception desk is friendly, knowledgeable and professional, as was Jeninson (pronunced like the wiskey Jamison, but not). The room staff, reminded me of being on a cruise - you rarely saw them but the care for your room was on par with the best cruiseline staff. Sheets, towels, tiled bathroom - excellent. Location was close enough and far enough from boardwalk.
