Completely flaked on the paving of our 700' driveway in Simsbury!!…read more In June, we scheduled (through our contractor) to have our driveway at our new home paved by Deziel during a 9-day window in August while we were going to be out of town... We confirmed a couple times over the two months that the date we had scheduled still worked... Deziel began not responding to my contractor a couple weeks before the scheduled time to pave the driveway. The week our paving was scheduled for, I began calling them myself to get answers... they finally called me back after a few attempts and voicemails and told me they had it scheduled to be done in October!?! I explained the situation and that we had been expecting it to happen that week, and although the lady I spoke to was very nice, she told me the scheduler was on vacation but she would email the owner... I got no call back, so I called again the following week (the week after it was supposed to be paved), and spoke to a different lady who said "we decided we weren't going to be able to do that job anymore"- she said because Simsbury was too far for them, but didnt really have answers and told me I needed to call my contractor (who had NOT heard from them and had no idea they were going to back out of the job)... Needless to say, but the communication was awful, the owner never called me, and they completely flaked on our job. We would have happily hired a different company if they couldnt do the job. They DID pave the apron of our driveway in June (we needed that completed in order to get the CO for our house)- however the town made them come back and cut the apron back because they paved it too far in the street. It also began breaking apart 2 months after it was paved... lucky for them, they got free advertising because they put their sign at the end of my driveway which remained there for two months. Unfortunate all around, because reviews show that they often do good work- but they clearly don't run a good business since they cant hold dates or communicate properly (and wont hesitate to completely flake on you, months after scheduling and accepting a job!). I would never recommend doing business with a company like this. I was able to find a different company that was able to get out here and complete the project quickly for us- they did a fantastic job, communicated with us the entire way, and were $5000 less expensive than Deziel's quote.

Midstate quoted me $500-1500 more than he charged my neighbors. One neighbor was charged $2000 for her driveway & front porch. Her driveway is the same length as mine. The other neighbor paid $3000 & his driveway is longer than mine. I was quoted $3650?! Obviously I disregarded Midstate's quote. My driveway was indented, cracked, & in complete disrepair. After George & his crew left, my driveway looks beautiful. George could not be any sweeter. He's a real people person & I can tell his kindness is sincere. He's such a nice guy. It didn't take them long to finish my driveway. George was nice enough to give me instructions on how to care for the new paving. They put up caution tape in front of the driveway. I was in touch with Highland before the year was over ( August of 24 finished and my first call went in July of 25) and Dennis came out to look at the driveway. There were tire marks at the end of my driveway from someone who had made a turn going out. Dennis told me it was because of the hot weather. There was nothing in the contract that said we are not responsible in hot weather if you are left with tire marks. Perhaps, his contract says that now. in 2025, I started seeing patches of gravel and started calling Highland In 2026 the whole top coat was gone and all you can see now is gravel. You cannot see the gravel by driving by the house and it would have been nice if he had called and told us he was coming to look at the driveway. After paying a lot of money to have my driveway redone, Antonio's resolution was to have the driveway sealed.
