Type 44 is one of the best CrossFit gyms I have EVER been to, I cannot recommend it enough! I've dropped in here while visiting 20-30 times as well as spent a whole month as a regular and it is one of the best CrossFit gyms I have ever been to. They have always made it feel like home away from home. The space is absolutely fantastic and the location is awesome! They have every piece of equipment you could ever need and one of my personal favorite setups is that they have a very large main area for the classes as well a generous separate section of the building dedicated to open gym. The open gym has its own rig setup and all the equipment you could need. The location and facilities are just absolutely top notch! The coaches and owners are also just absolutely fantastic! Every class I've ever taken has always been so well coached and organized and they spend a detailed amount of time guiding and coaching. Best CrossFit in Bend. Coaches emphasize proper form, provide positive feedback, and really care. Coaches do an awesome job switching up workouts and tailoring each week's sessions to not overtrain the same muscles. You can sign up online or walk in. Free drop in class if it's your first time at CrossFit Type 44. You choose whether you want to pay monthly or purchase a certain amount of classes. You use a mobile app to sign up for classes (super easy to use). Monday through Friday classes start almost every hour, earliest class starts at 5:00 am and latest at 6:00 pm (except Friday's latest class is 4:45 pm). Saturday and Sunday offer two class times, 7:45 am and 9:00 am. Usually max class size of 20 people. Plenty of room as it's a big box. Good mix of novice to expert members. read more

Visiting from Portland, needed to get my Open workout in. Messaged Charles through Facebook, and he said I could come in after his Saturday class and he would even judge me for the Open. Basically he took an hour out of his Saturday just to accommodate me! What a great guy! As far as the gym goes, top notch. I've only been to a few CF gyms, but this one is one of the best. It's also set up ideally for social distancing/safety during Covid times. Enough square footage for everyone to spread out into individual areas and enough equipment so that every workout area has its own plates, rower, etc. Highest, highest recommendation! read more

I've been a member here for more than a year. My business takes me across the country frequently, where I make it a point to drop into as many other CrossFit boxes that I can. In addition, I have a multi-sport collegiate athletic background. Given all of this, here are my thoughts: 1. I've never been a part of an exercise program that even comes close to the physical benefits that CrossFit offers. Not. Even. Close. 2. CF44 is as good, or better, than any of the numerous boxes I have dropped into! The equipment is all new, high quality, and plentiful. 3. The box is HUGE. Lots of room to do your thing. 4. The coaching staff (owner/head coach Charles, as well as coaches Bryant and Nole) are absolutely top-notch. They know their stuff. They will not let you overdo things to the point of hurting yourself. They care about form, form, form. They are extremely supportive, even of visiting athletes. Extremely friendly. Extremely knowledgeable. I can't say enough about these gents. The list of compliments goes on and on. 5. The WOD programming is also top-notch. Not too heavily weighted towards lifting nor gymnastics. A great blend of all things CrossFit is supposed to be. 6. There are showers! Two, to be precise. And they are clean! This is a must-have for me. 7. The other members are all extremely friendly and supportive. It really is a community of like-minded individuals. 8. The class schedule offers more class times than any box I've been to. 5:30, 6:00, 7:00, 9:00, Noon, 4:00, 5:30, 6:30. Even multiple classes on the weekends, as well as an Oly class on Fridays. 9. There is a kid play area that is both contained by a pony-wall, and in the open, visible to the parents during the WOD. 10. Kids are also welcome to join in the WOD. The program is, of course, made easier for them, but they get the support of the coaches and members just the same as the adults! I could go on and on (and on) about CF44. If you are a visiting CrossFit athlete, this is THE box in Bend to drop into. If you are curious about what, exactly, this CrossFit thing is all about, it offers an excellent opportunity to find out (and at a reduced first month rate). Speaking of rates, it is also the cheapest option I am aware of in Bend (and a steal as compared to other box rates across the country). In January I signed up for a 6 week challenge and paid $250 in advance. Prior to the start of the challenge I had to pull out due to weather and family commitments. I have texted and called repeatedly to request a refund and no-one has responded to address my request. I'm disappointed in their level of professionalism and integrity. They essentially stole my money and won't respond to a request for a refund. I would not recommend working with this gym. I was able to get a refund from my credit card so I don't want to throw these guys under the bus. Perhaps they were super busy. read more

If you are looking for a CrossFit gym in Bend, you have to check this place out! Charles and Kira are awesome. The first day my brother and I went here, Charles gave us the lowdown on the gym and their name, and the back story on how they came up with the branding and logo for the place (which is very interesting by the way -- ask him about it). He also showed me there workout app that they use called Wodify. It is hands down the coolest and most useful application I have seen for a CrossFit gym. Everyone at the gym was super friendly and very encouraging. The only reason I'm no longer a member there is because I was only working in Bend for the summer, and I'm now working out of Redmond again. read more

I've been avid about my fitness my whole life, and decided I wanted to try out crossfit, the gym and the people at it were very welcoming and took time to help out with all the things I was clueless about in regards to exercises or workouts. All in all, I was very nervous having never tried it before and they were great for a first timer, but also have people on the other side of the spectrum that are in incredible shape that push it to the limit. I have being going to Crossfit Type 44 since they opened in Feb 2013. This facility is clean, has showers, great parking, nice equipment and most importantly, good coaching. I tried three other places in town and I was not as impressed with them as I am with Type 44. The coaches are great with newbies (which the other boxes were not) and very patient as well. They take the time to walk through all the movements and make sure if you don't understand that you get it right to reduce injury risk. If you're dropping into town on business and need a box to do your WOD, Type 44 is the place. read more

My husband & I just completed a 14 day road trip where we hit 10 different Crossfits. This box was by far the best. Right off the bat Charles came up to us & introduced himself & made us feel welcomed. He explained everything in detail. After the reception we had received from another local box in town it was much appreciated. The members were also very welcoming. As a coach myself I appreciated his coaching & the cues he gave. Excellent Box!!! I came into town to visit from Colorado. I needed a place that would suffice while on vacation. Not only did this gym meet my needs, but it far surpassed my expectations. The box itself is fantastically laid out, the equipment is in great shape and plentiful. The state of the art monitors were excellent for warm up, strength, and WOD guidance. Charles the coach was friendly, knowledgable and professional. He was attentive and very focused on proper form/safety. If I lived here, this would be the one to join.
