The House is not a gym, it's a group of coaches and trainers, who teach the correct body position, the reason behind it (helps me remember if I know the why) and how much to lift, based on where I am. The classes are small, it's not a "gym" with tv, lockers and roid heads or dudes trying to look at your butt (not mine). It's a group of folks dedicated to their health, the longevity, the long game is the heart of it. Exercise is not a fad, you do it and then you are done. This is what The House is great at. They are looking for you to learn the reasons you do it, how to pace it, how to develop, track and grow. Concrete example, in March, they had us test 1 perfect rep at the heaviest weight. If I can do a deadlift with 50lbs, that becomes my max. Now when I am working out and the rep 4-6x at 50% of max, I know I am working out with 25lbs. Now I have a goal to increase, and keep building. Education is an important component, not just lifting. As a woman, I never feel uncomfortable in this environment. 3 classes per week = 12x per month at $155? You cannot find a better deal in the Portland area.

After my first workout, I knew this was exactly what I needed. The coaches are great at pushing me beyond my own expectations, which sometimes means doing a workout rx and not scaled. There are always events, challenges, and exciting things going on that help encourage me to go beyond my comfort zone. The West Box is truly one of the best places to workout. Upon arriving, literally everyone at the box came up to me and greeted me and asked me about who I was and where I was from. I got the sense that they all were genuinely interested in getting to know me and they welcomed me with open arms to their community! It felt like the good old days in CrossFit gyms, where people liked to hang out and the emphasis was on friendship and not competition! It was just really refreshing and inspiring! It is all because of great coaches. Ravi, Scott and Joe are very knowledgeable and patient. It is not important for them, if you PR today, the most important thing is to do it properly. I have been doing crossfit for a while, and only after switching to this gym I finally got better at my front squats and split jerks! They help you to correct every mistake you make, know plenty of exercises to work on any muscle group, they can scale any movement and still make you get a great workout, even if you are tapering or recovering. Another thing I love about this gym is how great people are here. Everybody is very friendly, they treat you like a good friend. Working out here is fun, but challenging. If you want to get in shape, fix your nutrition, meet a lot of cool people, get a sense of community, grow to become a better athlete, tackle your first crossfit or running competition - you will get it all at Cascadia Strength.

At first,…read moreI didn't want to be "that person" who goes on a rant on the review section, but this review has to do with the impact this particular CrossFit had on many lives. Flashback: March 2019. Covid-19. Most of us afraid. Will our families survive? How will life look during a pandemic? Then news hit. Gyms, entertainment facilities, and restaurants in Oregon to close. At first, I felt this gym was "semi" fair in allowing people to borrow some equipment. I was able to borrow a bar, a kettle, and a few rubber plates. That was nice, but I just can't stop thinking about the fact that they were still charging us the full premium for a percentage of the effort. Two zoom classes offered per day, both during typical 9-5 working hours. Workouts were posted with machines that we didn't have access to, or at least most of us didn't i.e. rowing machines. See, I understand wanting to take care of your family, but at the cost of others? I think about the people who lost their jobs during the pandemic and how you were still drafting 130+ (depending on how many months they signed up for) out of their banking account. In my case it was around $160.00. I was extremely fortunate to have a job during the pandemic, but I don't get how I was paying a large premium for two zoom classes that were during my working hours. The sell point of CrossFit is competing with a group while getting a form of training in a group setting. All of that was removed from the situation and so the cost should have followed, in my personal opinion. If you had decreased the cost to $50-$70, I wouldn't feel so taken aback by the choices made by this facility. A percentage of the work on your part for the full price. Most of us work for our money, and I feel you should have worked for yours, or decreased to alleviate others during a difficult time. I wasn't the only one plagued by these actions, others with whom I came into contact with felt the same way. I just want others to think twice before they choose this CrossFit. I would have happily supported your survival by paying $50-$70, just to keep your dream of having a gym alive, but because of the actions taken during a critical time in so many lives, I could never support this business or this business owner, Andrew, again. I encourage anyone taking the time to read this review to choose a different branch of CrossFit and to not support CrossFit Intensify. -Taylor

Gym itself was very clean and well stocked with good equipment. . The women's restroom was very clean along with the locker room. I took advantage of the tanning booth twice and was very impressed with how clean everything was and the process to booking. The room was easy with a little help from the front desk. They have two total body enhancement rooms available, which I used the first day. It's supposed to help work muscle groups, legs, abs, arms, and glutes energizing 10 minute workout. So today was my third time visiting planet fitness, using the treadmill and the elliptical to get started. Good time to go. It's around 3:30 to 430 hardly anybody there which was really nice. As I was leaving the gym seemed to fill up. I suppose people getting off work. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of some of the classes with the fitness instructors. All in all, I highly recommend this gym. The price seems very reasonable. It was a good experience.
