The Sterling location isn't as big as some of the other climbing gyms, but it is plenty for a climbing session. I will say, the one issue of this location is that since it's a little small, the bouldering section is a little cramped in spacing compared to their other location in Alexandria. Not a a big problem at all, but can be during peak hours. Their staff here are very nice and friendly as well. Always a good group of people being welcoming to new guests and members. The facility itself is also well kept and clean.

That it's far more fun than just going to…read morea regular boring gym to move around some heavy plates of metal or to set myself up like a rodent on a wheel and go absolutely nowhere really fast for an hour. I tell myself that making time and partnering up is better motivation and will ensure that I actually make the time to work on my fitness. Forget all that. I come for the eye candy. Plus, I lie to myself and imagine that if I keep up with climbing, I'll also have a ridiculously ripped, lean, toned body with a perfect V-shaped torso. No, don't burst my little dream bubble. Fair warning. Until you obtain a membership card (which took us roughly three weeks from signing up), you'll have to deal with the stench by the front desk. Our suspicious: the stack of rental climbing shoes that have been worn by countless people. Fortunately, I can now hold my breath or breathe through my mouth as I navigate past the worst of it. Once you're back into the main part of the gym, it's much easier to breathe. With plenty of bouldering, huge tall walls for belay climbing or top roping (which I still haven't experienced myself), and a couple of auto-belays, there has always been ample room to find a wall to climb. Plus, membership benefits include free yoga classes, a significant discount on climbing gear (which, believe me, I looked... it's never on sale anywhere), and a huge benefit on pricing for classes. The staff here seem well-informed and helpful, and it's always been easy enough to hunt someone down for questions about the gym, equipment, or suggestions on how to improve. After about a month, I can legitimately say that I'm pretty addicted. Whether it's on the climbing itself, or the view... well, jury's still out.

He starts with stretches and He's always incredibly encouraging! He watches how he can adjust the workouts to accommodate his clients. My mother has arthritis, so it sometimes hurts her hand to do exercises that involved bars or push ups. Eric showed her a variation of the exercise that wouldn't put as much weight on her hand as it usually would! The studio is clean, with the right amount of fitness equipment, good vibes and background music. I really like the fact that I am not entertainment for the people on the cardio equipment, like in a gym atmostphere. Also there are not guys staring you while you are working out. I have not repeated the same exercise twice. It is a full body workout with an emphasis in core training that is fun and challenging. John stretches you before and after the workout and provides Myofascial release with a foam roller. Now I can say, I now feel energized after my workouts. I have had 5 other personal trainers in my past and, I have to say, never have I received results so quickly. I am not talking about the beefy, bulky muscles, but lean, long, sexy fit bod, which are my desired results. I have been training with Fitness Aspects for 7 weeks, twice a week and the rates are very reasonable. I decided to seek John's help due to an accumulation of various pains and wanted my 20 something year old butt back. I rarely feel my pain anymore and I am able to enjoy running with an increase vigor. John is so likeable and motivating, I really feel he cares about his clients. I so look forward to my workouts. At that point, I had persistent sciatica pain which, while not disabling, really impacted my day. As a psychotherapist, I sit all day for my job. I had started running at 48 and loved the way it made me feel--strong and "lighter"--but got a compression injury and had back surgery--which didn't help. Working with John has literally transformed my life. He is an expert trainer who is an expert in exercise physiology and nutrition. I realize now that I probably did not need surgery --the key to relieving my back pain was strengthening my core. I am now largely pain free and feel so much better. It's hard to sum up John's level of expertise in a brief post--he understands physiology, nutrition, and the body in a way no PT or orthopedic doctor seemed to. His classes are group classes but each exercise is tailored to each person's level of conditioning, strength, and injury profile. It is like having an individual trainer with the fun of a small group workout. I have learned how working out with incorrect form can cause injury. My body is strong, I have no back pain, and my overall health is improved. I signed up just about an hour before class, and when we arrived, they had a welcome board with our names written on it -- such a thoughtful touch that immediately made me feel at home. The staff and coaches were all super friendly and helpful, and the energy in the studio was great. I also couldn't help but notice that the amenities here looked even nicer than at my home location, which was a pleasant surprise. The workout itself was exactly what I expect from Orangetheory -- challenging but fun -- and the overall experience was so positive that I'd absolutely love to take another class here in the future.

I have been a member of several Crunch, Gold, and yoga gyms...as I love group classes. I need the…read moremotivation to keep me going, even if I don't want to work out....so, I love the 60 minute Orange Theory classes. One of my BFFs raved about this workout, but I was a bit intimidated by this so it took me a while to be brave enough to try it out....now I am a huge fan. It was a bit challenging as first, as I am not really used to working out this hard...but as the weeks go by, it is easier.. You start on either the treadmill or bike and then switch to floor/rowers. Each class is different so you never get bored. Each trainer has their own unique music selection and personality so you can try out different classes. Atmosphere - This gym is clean and simple. There is a muted orange lighting in a dark room with loud music, so you aren't really focused on other people, just on yourself. You can buy a $120 proprietary "Orange theory Burn band" that syncs to the Orange Theory app and the live screens during the class so you can track your heart rate through 5 different stages. (My high blood pressure meds won't let my heart rate get too high but I can definitely tell I am working - sweating and slightly out of breath!) There are two small showers that you can use afterwards and plenty of lockers to store your items during class. I love that the entire gym is "electronic free." For one hour, you can detox from your cell phone and have someone tell you exactly what to do! Service - The instructors are fabulous - especially Kit, Taylor, Kevin and Sylvia. Last week Kit dressed up as a pirate for the 7am Monday class and it was probably the best. workout. class. ever. She played a pirates of the caribbean theme music and it was awesome. Value- For $179 you can do unlimited classes, for $119 you can get 8 a month...so overall it's not a bad deal compared to other gyms in the area. For the value, it's worth it.....I know that I am getting in better shape and having fun while doing it! Pro tip: Bring a small towel and a water bottle to class. I also have cheap grippy weightlifting gloves to help me hold onto the weights and the rower handles when I get sweaty..

Today was the second time I brought my daughter to family field time and she had a blast! Lately…read moreshe's been into anything with wheels so the mini cars were her favorite. She also liked the kiddie roller coaster and was able to figure out how to reset it and climb up to ride it herself!! Parking the first time was a bit confusing because Googlemaps takes you to the smaller lot which I believe is for the church but there is a bigger parking lot in the back of the building with the main entrance to the sports facilities. We're sad that the last Thursday family field time is coming up on the 22nd but we'll try to keep an eye on when they'll be happening again. Friendly staff and kid friendly facilities!
