You will build your confidence and meet team members who are always recruiting new members. But paddling is only a part of the program. In addition you receive group training in the fully equipped gym on site with exercises geared toward building strength and stamina needed for this sport. Workouts and video analysis is e-mailed weekly for clinic members so that you can work on your own during the rest of the week. I have done two clinics at this excellent facility and they have helped me become a better paddler. Teams can rent the pool and gym to practice on their own at an hourly rate. The staff here are amazing as they are friendly and willing to help out if you need for correction or other ideas for workouts. Tons of ER/Eleiko racks, lots and lots of calibrated kilo plates, premium bars on bars on bars, power racks and platforms for olympic weightlifting. This is a powerlifter/weightlifter's heaven. The equipment is top notch and definitely spoiled me - I just CAN'T lift with regular ol' goodlife equipment anymore! The community @ BoB is extremely supportive, everyone is willing to help you load, spot, cheer you on during a heavy lift - it's something you'll never quite find in a plain old commercial gym. Everyone knows what they're doing and even when they don't, they still do. Oh, and also they have ice cold water. Definitely helps during long training sessions. As soon as I entered the gym, the owner Dan welcomed me immediately. Mae & Dan are super nice and welcoming of new members, plus they train alongside while cleaning up, walking around and generally taking care of their members. But once I started my weekly sessions, they started me off at the level I was at physically taken care with literally every move. Now my fitness levels are the best they have been in 15 years ....and after a year, I feel amazing, I'm now back to running up and down stairs and running around. It is located beside Scarborough Town Centre and has the standard amenities such as pool and gym. It is very cramped and is almost always busy. As far as a gym goes, there are definitely better offerings in the city but for those who can't afford a regular gym membership, the YMCA serves a great purpose. Parking is plentiful as you can park at Scarborough Town Centre and walk over. The Scarborough RT line also is close by so transportation is great for this location. The equipment is dated and the facilities could definitely use an upgrade but as far as YMCA's go, it's fine. The downside is the younger kids who like to chill out at the location. For those who take their training seriously, this is a huge negative as this crowd serves as a distraction and obstacle. Additionally the lack of space during peak periods is a huge negative as well. With limited space you'll be trying to do your workout all over the place and will have to jump around frequently. All in all, it's a great gym for those who need a gym for cheap. But if you can afford a gym membership, there are definitely better offerings around.

Personal training has outrageous price with 0 benefits, first trainer - forgot to do assessment, worked out on one thing throughout a course of 2 months and then disappeared, somehow I was not notified at all. Second trainer I was appointed didn't show up. Third trainer cared more about social things going around the gym. Luckily I'm off "personal training" but I'll still keep the membership for now, Dow to convenient hours and location.
