Not a positive atmosphere. Be careful entering into any long-term contracts as they have a habit of not fulfilling their side of the deal.

My boyfriend just had his first training session with Leigh, and he was super-impressed by her,…read morejust as I am. Leigh is sensitive, patient and professional, and also knows how to kick your butt into shape! I don't do well in a corporate gym setting, so to have a trainer who will come to me for a session in my condo or even in the park is an awesome alternative. Here's a bit from the website: "Prime Fitness was founded by two sisters with a vested interest in health, fitness and well-being. Leigh Graham, an experienced fitness specialist with a Kinesiology degree, and Lara Jacob, a qualified Nutritional consultant (and Naturopathic doctor candidate), we are confident that we can help you with all of your fitness, health and nutrition goals. We also make it convenient for you by visiting you right in your home!" I would recommend Leigh to anyone who needs a personal trainer, regardless of their age or fitness goals. She is a pleasure to work with, insomuch as working out can be pleasurable....

(No pressure) I started off with the warm up package so I could get my eating on track as well. Leigh and Lara were amazing.. Lara helped me get back on track and figured out exactly what I need to do with my diet in order to reach my goal considering that I was still feeding my son. Leigh came to my house each session and worked with not only my environment, but my new son's mood. some days we needed to incorporate him and she didn't miss a beat. Each session, she read my ability and matched it to perfection. I pushed myself like I had never done before. I reached my goal in in the end which was huge (I gained 40 pounds, lost 20 in the first 8 weeks and 20 with the team). I not only fit into my dress but feel so much better and have the energy I need to get through the day. I look better than I did before the baby, I kid you not. I highly recommend. HIGHLY. I have no idea how new this place is, but it's lovely…read more The owner is ridiculously nice, and has an insane background in health and fitness. They seem to predominantly promote personal training, and for that the facilities look brand new, the trainers seem to really know their stuff (and are super fit themselves!) and the rates seem to be much the same as anywhere else (and apparently you can share sessions with another person, which virtually no one allows anymore). They also have a bunch of group classes - the membership for which is like $50 a month but with no contract (which is amazing) or obligations when you sign up. They also have Groupons once in a while, and a drop-in option, too. There aren't a TON of classes, but definitely enough to fit most people's schedules... and the classes vary a bit in difficulty depending on the instructor (Tony's classes are probably the closest to death). Overall, really looking forward to seeing this place do well in the neighbourhood. They seem like really nice people, the classes are different every time, and the facilities are great and spacious compared to anything downtown.

What I enjoy the most are the classes. All the instructors I've met give it their all and teach with so much enthusiasm. The staff are amazing and coming here every day feels like a community. I go to the Goodlife near my work in Mississauga sometimes (it's a lot bigger) at the same time, and find it way more crowded than the Bloor/Islington one. There are 3 squat racks and 2 regular benches which can be a limiting factor but if you do other workouts while keeping your eye on it you can easily grab one. Right now they're renovating a studio space so I assume there will be more space after that's done. Sometimes I walk in at peak time and feel overwhelmed by the amount of people but it's just because of the space limitations given the renovations. On weekends it's empty and since it's 24 hours if you're not a 9-5er like me you can definitely find a time that isn't too busy. It really is not as bad as the old reviews make it seem! I'd highly recommend visiting and speaking to the staff to make your own decision. Parking can be tricky but once you master the underground space it'll be easy. There's a validation machine by the front desk that they'll show you.
