I've never Yelped before but I want this place to get all the positive attention it deserves. I was pretty skeptical about joining a Crossfit gym, but finally decided to give it a go after talking with the trainers for a few week. The trainers were patience with my many question.
I'm a male in my late 40's the last 5 years I lived a sedentary life. Gone to the gym off and on never relay knew what I was doing there, just used the treadmill for the 20 min workout and left. I've never done Olympic lifting and have only done basic compound movements on and off for about 2-3 years before I joined. I've been at CFCP for about 12 months, and in that time, I've seen measurable improvement. I can squat, deadlift, powerclean, snatch, push press, and front squat more than I was ever able to. I've gotten a lot stronger and increased my endurance. A particular point of pride for me is that prior to CFCP, I had never done a powerclean in my life. 12 months later I was able to powerclean 205lbs, and now I'm looking forward to adding more weight the next time.
I've learned new skills, made new friends, and overall had a great time working out here. There are two things that really sets CFCP apart. One is the knowledge and teaching ability of the trainers. Scott and Megan are both extremely knowledgeable, patient, and will work with you until you feel comfortable with the initially scary prospect of moving a barbell loaded with weight from the floor to over your head. They scale the workouts to your ability, if you cannot do a portion they will suggest a similar movement or a lighter weight to make it more manageable.
The other is the culture at the gym. I couldn't ask for a better environment. The people are all really friendly, helpful, and encouraging. There are no egos here, and no chest-thumping--everyone performs at their own ability and are respectful of each other, whether you are a beginner or an experienced Crossfitter. Everyone helps each other and cheers each other on.
The coaching and the environment of this place alone are worth the cost.. in addition I have made more improvements in my overall fitness in a much shorter amount of time than I have made just going to the gym and working out on my own without getting injured and learning many new things about fitness, nutrition, and weightlifting. I really recommend you check this place out, some days will kick your ass but you'll be coming back for more. You'll be glad you did! read more
