After trying out several other Crossfit boxes, I realized what separates Kong from others. Typically, there is a dynamic warmup, a strength portion with a dedicated exercise and a Metcon. Only when I went to other gyms did I realize this isn't the format used everywhere. Other boxes may only focus on the Metcon. Some do not have an app that records your progress and you have to track it on your own. Both the daily format and progress measuring are items that set Kong apart. Next is the coaching and community. Once you settle in on a class, you'll frequently train with the same group of people, both competing against and rooting for each other as you grind through a long Metcon. There are usually community events as well. I would still be a member at Kong but for moving further away. The price is reasonable, less than other boxes in the area. More importantly, you get out what you put in. Eat clean, show up 4-5 times per week and the results will follow. Coaches are excellent. Meline gets everyone going when you're still rubbing sleep out of your eyes at 6 am. There are a couple shower stalls here. The gym isn't chock full of amenities, but that's what you get with Crossfit. It's results-based, hard, sweaty, and not pretty. Yet once you're sucked in, it's hard to leave. I highly recommend Kong. Crossfit is a punchline at times since it's a bit cultish. However, I drank the Kool Aid and can't imagine just going solo to a big box gym anymore. Two (callused) thumbs way up for Kong Crossfit!

The training is excellent, but the staff is very sales driven and aggressive, and when I pointed out the smell they acted like I had two heads and deflected that something was wrong with me - very unprofessional. Over the years that I have gone there, I have seen brides (and bride's mothers!) work to get in shape for their big day. I have also seen clients working to come back from an injury or illness make outstanding progress with help from the Pinnacle team. There are also many students athletes who have further refined their skills with training at Pinnacle. The best thing is that your training is focused on you and your needs. If you are intimidated by crowded big-box gyms, Pinnacle is the perfect spot to get comfortable with exercise and work towards your fitness goals. The main fitness room and the pilates/yoga studios are very well maintained and are never crowded. Also, the locker rooms are more like what you'd see at a spa with towels and grooming supplies. Perks include a small steam room for the guys and upscale products for the ladies. If you train at Pinnacle regularly, you can also work out there on your own without any monthly fees. Make 1849 Post Road East your destination for health and fitness. With some hard work and support from the folks at Pinnacle, you'll be looking and feeling better in no time. And then you can treat yourself once in a while to the food in the front the building. You may be so happy with your progress that you just might opt for healthier fare, but for the record, the vegetarian burger's pretty tasty! Full disclosure: I did work at Pinnacle for two months two years ago. I have, however, worked out with my Pinnacle trainer for ten years. I believe that both of my experiences have given me the perspective to speak to the high level of service and results seen at Pinnacle Health and Fitness.
