But inside it has always been a fantastic place to shop with fresh fruit and vegetables, large deli display counters including a separate sections on either side devoted to seafood and an excellent gourmet continental deli. They have recently added an organic fruit and veg section between the standard fruit and veg area plus the nuts and bolts area. The atmosphere is quite relaxing for a supermarket as the aisles are wide, the ceiling is high with not a hint of claustrophobia, and the nice big picture windows across the front allows shoppers and staff a view. The one and only complaint I have is the prices are not cheap and there is a definite lack of specials, the forest of trees I receive stashed in my letter box everyday, is frequently devoid of Foodland Pasadena junk mail advertising. And....I wish they had a petrol saver card despite it being a contrived scenario, as I end up going elsewhere to spend $30 just to get my 4cents worth of cheaper petrol! Also, it is the only supermarket in South Australia which has a deli cafe! A novel and great concept for such a place! Well done. All in all, great supermarket and great friendly staff.

In fact, one of their staff is a vegan I am told. Single-cut salad roll with sweet chilli sauce, thanks. Fresh and delicious. Sylvia tells me, in fact, that she buys most of her produce from the Gepps Cross Markets. I didn't expect that. Far fresher and more agreeable than even some of the more upmarket places elsewhere.

Back then Parkside was a bit dingy, a bit boho and very multicultural - Greek and Italian families predominated. Fast forward 25 years and Parkside has now been gentrified and and is a bit yuppiefied but blessedly Duthy St deli harks back to its deli origins and not just in name only. Vasili our host, has been smoothly operating a very successful cafe here for a number of years. Good service, well trained baristas, efficient chefing on view and a consistent, reliable extremely well presented selection of breakfast and lunch cold and hot items. Shrewdly but thankfully very competitively priced in a locale that could cough up more. Always good and always fresh -congratulations on maintaining the tradition in a slice of slightly out of the way suburbia. Does explain the faultless service on their part. Food is pricey but utterly amazing, the space is huge and the service is awesome so ruling with an iron fist must be working for them! There are a great deal of confections on offer, some old school (milk bottles, frogs, raspberries, red skins, chocolate sprinkles, pineapple, bananas etc.) and newer brands too. Down home food such as pies, sausage rolls and the steak sandwich. These can be bought to take away, or pick up a newspaper and a cuppa and have a pleasant sit down out the front and watch Sturt road speed to places unknown. Another prominent and Aussie (particularly South Aussie) item up for purchase here is the state's beloved Farmer's Union Iced Coffee. CJ's window is emblazoned with the union's colourings and motifs.
