Subject: Feedback on Recent Root Canal Experience at South Jersey Endodontics…read more Dear South Jersey Endodontics Team, I recently experienced a severe toothache due to an infection in tooth #30 and visited my DMO-preferred dentist, Dr. Samir Patel, for advice. Although the tooth had no prior symptoms of infection, he recommended that I see an endodontist at South Jersey Endodontics. Having had a previous root canal procedure done by Dr. Steven Ryu with an excellent, pain-free experience, I requested to see him again. However, I was informed that he was unavailable, and instead, I was scheduled with Dr. Divya Trikannad, whom I had not worked with before. Upon my visit, an X-ray was taken, followed by a recommendation for a 360° CT scan, which I was told would provide better clarity for the procedure. I was informed that this scan was not covered by insurance and would cost $300 out-of-pocket. Although I agreed to proceed, I had never been required to undergo this scan in my past root canal treatments. Unfortunately, despite this additional imaging, my experience during and after the procedure was extremely painful, to the point where I had to take three days off from work to recover. I genuinely question the necessity of the 360° CT scan, as it did not seem to contribute to a smoother or less painful procedure. In my opinion, this additional step felt more like an unnecessary cost rather than a true benefit to patient care. Ultimately, I ended up paying more than what my insurance covered, and the experience did not meet my expectations. I sincerely urge your team to avoid imposing unwarranted procedures on patients, especially when experienced professionals in your practice have successfully handled similar cases without them in the past. Finally, I understand that reviews reflect individual experiences, and expectations can vary from person to person. It's often challenging to judge a service or practitioner based on a single review, as a collective opinion is usually more informative. My intention here is not to defame the practitioner or the group that provided my treatment, but rather to share my personal experience, which was significantly different from my previous root canal procedures--both with this group and elsewhere. Unfortunately, this particular incident severely impacted me during and after the procedure, unlike any I've had before. The decor of the waiting room and office was unique and comfortable. I had a welcoming feeling the minute i walked in. In fact, I was blown away by the friendly and welcoming staff who "welcomed me to the practice" with smiles. Dr. Fonseca, who came highly recommended exceeded my expectations. She made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and even made me laugh despite being in pain and fearing the worst. Although my situation was a difficult one to diagnose she was patient and made sure that she got to the bottom of it. She was thoughtful and thorough, explaining every part of the process to me. But if you're going to get one (or, ahem, several), get them here…read more Dr. Lin is gentle and kind, and both sympathetic and conservative -- aka, he knows it's not fun to have these procedures done, but he also really doesn't want things to get infected. I needed a bunch of root canals (sad trombone noise) and Dr. Lin did a great job of setting them up so he would start one, have me come back and finish it AND start the next one in the next visit, etc. This helped me minimize visits. He and the staff were great about me zoning out by listening to podcasts, and I never felt any pain. Out of all the procedures I had (five?), only one had an issue. Thankfully, I knew exactly what to do, as Dr. Lin had prepped me carefully after finishing on what to expect and when to call. I called (on a weekend!), quickly got a prescription for anti-biotics, and everything resolved without incident. I wouldn't hesitate to go here again (although I really hope I don't have to)!

She reviewed the x-rays with me and even showed me how my sinuses were inflamed due to the irritation of my root! I was able to schedule my root canal for the day after my consultation and everything was super organized. Dr. Serrano explained things very clearly and is an expert at what she does. I've had 2 other root canals and this was was by far the best. It was essentially painless, except for the numbing part, which wasn't bad either. Dr. Serrano took a few x-rays at various points during the procedure to determine if she could do the entire thing at once. I appreciated her thoroughness and specificity to ensure everything was done to perfection. Dr. Serrano called me the next day to see how I was doing, which just shows that you are more than just a number at TEC Endodontics. I am moving out of state, but if I ever need another root canal, I would gladly travel back to Dr. Serrano's office. She is that good!

I should have read the prior reviews before going to this office and I would have been alerted about the scam, I mean 3 d xray that should be but wont be covered by my insurance. The cherry on top is the estimated cost of what the 2 root canals will cost and the costs doesnt even account for the cap. Ive had root canals and caps done at other dentist and the quoted costs was light years above what Ive paid in other dentist offices.
