Look, no one wants a root canal. But if you're going to get one (or, ahem, several), get them here. Dr. Lin is gentle and kind, and both sympathetic and conservative -- aka, he knows it's not fun to have these procedures done, but he also really doesn't want things to get infected. I needed a bunch of root canals (sad trombone noise) and Dr. Lin did a great job of setting them up so he would start one, have me come back and finish it AND start the next one in the next visit, etc. This helped me minimize visits. He and the staff were great about me zoning out by listening to podcasts, and I never felt any pain. Out of all the procedures I had (five?), only one had an issue. Thankfully, I knew exactly what to do, as Dr. Lin had prepped me carefully after finishing on what to expect and when to call. I called (on a weekend!), quickly got a prescription for anti-biotics, and everything resolved without incident. I wouldn't hesitate to go here again (although I really hope I don't have to)! read more

I had been having some sensitivity on a tooth that already had a deep filling and a crown. I was able to get into Dr. Serrano right away and she took thorough x-rays upon deciding that I needed a root canal. She reviewed the x-rays with me and even showed me how my sinuses were inflamed due to the irritation of my root! I was able to schedule my root canal for the day after my consultation and everything was super organized. Dr. Serrano explained things very clearly and is an expert at what she does. I've had 2 other root canals and this was was by far the best. It was essentially painless, except for the numbing part, which wasn't bad either. Dr. Serrano took a few x-rays at various points during the procedure to determine if she could do the entire thing at once. I appreciated her thoroughness and specificity to ensure everything was done to perfection. Dr. Serrano called me the next day to see how I was doing, which just shows that you are more than just a number at TEC Endodontics. I am moving out of state, but if I ever need another root canal, I would gladly travel back to Dr. Serrano's office. She is that good! read more

I'll start of by saying that for some reason, I always have severe anxiety when getting dental work. Sometimes I have to medicate prior, but lately I haven't even needed to since seeing Dr. Serrano. My everyday dentist has sent me to TEC several times for root canals, retreatments, and other specialized care, and I am so glad they did. As a young adult I ended up having tons of issues and weak teeth, and for a long time didn't have the money to always attend to them as I should. As an older adult they are so patient with me, explaining the procedures and next steps with me as many times as needed. Dr. Serrano in particular has been a saint. She has personally called me after every visit to check in. I've never has any insurance issues and I've found everything to be fairly priced. I was referred to this place for an emergent root canal from my primary dentist who could not fit me into their schedule. Dr. Nawaz took care of my tooth that cracked and became infected. I took two visits but both sessions was absolutely amazing. First visit majority of the root canal was done but it required antibiotics to clear up some of the infection. Second visit Dr. Nawaz finish the root canal and sent all the x-rays to my primary for further procedure requiring my tooth to be capped. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

Not a great experience. I have extreme anxiety when going to the dentist and I needed an emergency root canal due to an infection. I saw Dr. Nawaz and did not have a good experience for the following reasons: 1. the office is rundown with tape covering cracks in the fabric. The office desperately needs to be updated. The chairs are uncomfortable, the x ray equipment is old... just not great 2. The bedside manner of the technician was very good; however the attitude of Dr. Nawaz was terrible. The first thing she said to me other than introducing herself was "we'll see if we can get started today. You're an emergency patient so I don't know if we'll have time." There was no reassurance about getting me out of pain, no kindness, just "do you want to proceed or not?" I've had at least six root canals - this doctor made the experience terrible. I asked her, "Can you let me know what you're doing when you're doing it?" She replied, "that won't make your anxiety worse?" She should have replied, "yes of course - don't worry etc..." 3. I had X-rays taken yesterday and rather than wait less than five minutes for them to arrive, Dr. Nawaz was in a rush and pressured me to do an X-ray so she could immediately get started. Exposing a patient to unnecessary radiation, even in a small amount, is gross misconduct and not something a medical professional should ever do. By the time the imaging was complete, my scans from my regular dentist had arrived. 4. Normally at many practices there are things to help patients with anxiety: nitrous gas, stress balls, anti-anxiety medicine, noise cancelling headphones etc... they had nothing and for dealing with post procedure pain I was told to just take Tylenol. read more

I had to visit this wonderful office because an old root canal became infected and suddenly caused my entire left jaw to swell. I was in excruciating pain when I awoke the next morning so I called this place after reading about it here on yelp. The receptionist was really nice and so accommodating as they were able to fit me in for an emergency appointment over lunch that day. When I came in the staff were so courteous and very sensitive to the fact that my left jaw was so tender because of the infection. I came back the following week to get the first part of my treatment. I was really nervous because I generally associate the dentist with pain. He gave me the numbing medicine and it was the least painful injection I'd EVER had. He was very slow and gentle and talked me through it all. However, I had worked myself up so much that I started to feel lightheaded. He was very attentive and gave me some time to regain my color. When he came back he was really sweet and shared that he had just given a presentation on understanding the anxiety that patients and made me feel even more comfortable. I felt no pain during or after my procedure. I went for a check up just the other day and I'm still healing and I'm very confident that I will continue to heal. I went in here for treatment for a possible root canal. They would've done the root canal except their machine showed I had high blood pressure. Their machine wasn't working right I went directly to my doctors office and confirm my blood pressure was not high. Not only did I later find out that I did not need a root canal but a dental implant but this location would've done the root canal and I had a dead nerve. They build my dental insurance and they should not have and as of today they have not returned this money. Do you not go to this group I would not trust them read more

I just left the first half of my root canal appointment a few minutes ago and thanks to Dr. Lin, I'm not dreading going back for the second half. I made the appointment a few weeks ago and had to switch my appointment but Kathy was helpful and understanding and allowed me to make an appointment just a few days later. I went in feeling a bit nervous and had my x-rays taken. Dr. Lin came in and asked me about my issues and ran a few tests to make sure that where I thought my pain was was correct. I asked him if it would hurt and he said no and he was right. He and the dental assistant (who's name I can't remember) were very kind and accommodating when it was clear I was having some anxiety about the procedure. They made sure that I was completely numb, could breathe and they allowed me to just take a few minutes to calm down. I was referred to a dentist to get a crown after the procedure and I'm looking forward to putting this all behind me. The offices were clean, well laid out and well designed. I am now facing the loss of a previously-healthy tooth and 6 months of expensive reconstructive dentistry because of the incompetence of Dr. Austin Jang at TEC. When performing a root canal on an upper molar, he was completely flummoxed by my relatively small (but adult-size) mouth -- spending two hours repeating "this is difficult; this is very difficult" while jamming his hands inside. At one point he and the hygienist left me alone in the chair, no explanation, while they went off searching for different equipment that (I heard them say) they didn't have. For four weeks after the procedure, the root canal was fine but my lower molars were extremely painful to the touch from all of the pressure he'd applied. When I followed up with my regular dentist today, I learned that Dr. Jang's incompetent "technique" actually broke one of my lower molars. That tooth is unsalvageable. I will need at least one, maybe two, bone grafts (not covered by insurance, $300 each) after it is extracted, before I am even eligible for an implant. Be forewarned! read more

I would give them less than one star if I could. Dr. Ken Lin overfilled my root canal and this can increase failure of root canal treatment, as well as cause many very negative side effects due to cytotoxicity and inflammation. This practice takes on too many patients and, therefore, has less time and patience for each patient and errors are more likely. read more

I had to get an emergency root canal during the COVID-19 pandemic. My dentist referred me to TEC they did a great job. I am pregnant and was in so much pain that I was having trouble sleeping and they really took my situation seriously. They vigorously cleaned and sanitized everything in the office I had to come in contact with, wore appropriate face masks and PPE, and got me in for an appointment quickly. While getting a root canal is never fun, they did everything they could to make me comfortable and I'm happy to report the pain felt better almost immediately. By the next day I almost forgot I even had a root canal. Dr. Lin and his assistant, Kathy were very friendly and thoroughly walked me through everything that was going on. I had a couple of moments of discomfort and they would always address it right away so that I couldn't feel much of anything. I felt informed and cared for during the whole process. Also Kathy at the front desk was so nice and caring. I would definitely recommend TEC Endodontics. 5 stars for a root canal? It really was "as good as it gets". The staff is friendly, and will bring you whatever magazines you desire (I requested "something trashy" and was rewarded thusly). Tomasina (the assistant/hygienist/I don't know) was awesome and made quips about the radio's song selection. Dr. Trope promised to make it painless, and he succeeded. The procedure was over much quicker than I had anticipated. If you're not sure what they're doing in your tooth, the website is very helpful and has lots of graphics. Plus there's online patient registration. Why yes, I did just watch a flash presentation about endodontic therapy. While I hope to never step foot in here again, I certainly would recommend their services to those in need. read more

The concept of enjoying a root canal makes no sense, but I kinda did at TEC. I knew I needed a root canal for about a year, but I kept putting it off for financial reasons and the procedure's bad reputation. I saw Dr Shah, and to say she was excellent is almost an understatement. She was connected to the job at hand and very gentle. At one point I even fell asleep. The communication between the doc and her assistant was cryptic to me but they had serious synergy. They let me know what to expect up front and gave me updates throughout the procedure. I'm not sure if stressing about it so much wore me out or if they're just that good, but I certainly wouldn't worry about putting my dental health in TEC's hands again in the future. read more

TERRIBLE customer service!!! Will never go back! I went in for a retreatment of a root canal. Dr. Lin did a great job and I am greatly appreciative of his work, however the office manager or whoever is at the front desk has treated me the worst I have ever been treated in dealing with any medical facility. First of all, she gets my insurance info, checks with them and guarantees me that my insurance is paying for 80% of the costs. I called back a couple of days before the appointment to double check and she says everything was double checked and is ready. After the treatment she called me and said the insurance refused me case and now I have to pay them $1500 at once! When I confronted her with her previous reassurances about double checking everything and asked to talk to the office manager, she hung up on me!! A couple of days later sent me a letter with my electronic signature pasted at the bottom stating they don't take any responsibility for rejected claims! I was never informed of the document and all she did when I visited was asking me to sign an electronic pad multiple times!! Because of the way I was treated at this office, I will NEVER EVER go back again and so far have made two of my friends to change their dental office as well!! If you are thinking of getting anything done at this facility remember, most of the times everything goes well and the front desk lady is friendly but if there is a complication in your case, they deal with you like debt collector companies, they don't deal with you as a patient, but as a source of revenue!! read more

I had to go in for a very bad root canal on my #2 molar. I was in A LOT of pain and very nervous/scared. Dr. Lin explained everything to me and made me feel very comfortable. If you never have to hear the words 'Root Canal" you are a very blessed individual. My first visit to Dr. Lambert was in 08' in which I had to have a broken tooth saved I know TMI but hey we talking about teeth here.... :) Dr. Turner directed me to Dr. Lambert @ TEC Endodontics I thought I would never have to see him again but now I need another Root Canal done on the 19th. I am not worried because Dr. Lambert is the best. TEC Endodontics has the best staff and they are very on top of their patient health and records. When you schedule your appointment they send you a email containing a username & password which the link to input all your personal & medical information in their online database to save time when you come in for your actual appointment. This is the best because when you come in for your appointment you go straight to the back beside the long annoying waits in the lobby!!! Their office is spotless! It almost makes you feel like you not in the office to get a hole drilled into your tooth. Dr. Lambert makes you comfortable and the procedure is pain-free. Surprisingly after the visit I had no pain which was shocking despite like I said what's being done. Root Canals are very expensive if you have or do not have insurance so why not pick the best and choose Dr. Lambert or TEC Endodontics. Dr. Lambert is the best medical authority I have ever visited. I hate dentists. Despise them. Still do actually, but Dr. Lambert is cool. Before I met him I even started crying, but he spoke very calmly and seemed genuinely concerned. In fact, that first appointment I had with him wasn't even scheduled. I walked in around 4pm and he stayed late just to see me. Anyway, throughout out appointments (three of them), he really went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and pain-free. He even asked me what radio station I wanted to listen to, and stopped everything when I asked a gazillion questions about all the procedures that had to be done. Dr. Lin and assistant Rachel were absolutely terrific. The entire process from online submission of paperwork to the procedure itself went as smoothly as one could ever hope for. Dr. Lin's chair-side manner was terrific. Quite communicative about the entire procedure, and throughout the procedure as well. From out of town and was in desperate need of a root canal asap. Saw Dr Lin and he was awesome and professional. He explained everything he was doing before he did it so there were no surprises. He made me feel comfortable and took the time to explain the process, and offered to send the xrays to my dentist in CA with no problem, He is very knowledgable with nerves, and in my case was very helpful. Dr. Serrano is amazing. I'm so terrified of major dental procedures but I've had two root canals by Dr. Serrano and she made both procedures painless. She even called to check on me afterwards and I can honestly say I had no problems, the pain was minimal and I had no complications. This was my first ever root canal and I was terrified. I'd heard horror stories my entire life. And then I visited Dr. Shah at TEC Endodontics and now realize all of my worries were completely unnecessary. The procedure was completely painless and extremely comfortable. As Jennifer says below in her review, I almost fell asleep it was so easy. Dr. Shah was professional, gentle, calming and clear about what she was doing. She spoke quietly to her assistant throughout in a manner so soothingly calm that I felt at ease, I'd never have known if anything was even stressing her about the procedure. I was in the chair and back out the front door in 1.5 hours, the procedure went perfectly and I felt completely comfortable the entire time. It's the next day now and I am pain-free except for a little soreness from holding my mouth open, my tooth feels amazing, which is to say it doesn't feel anything at all, and it's only very very slightly sensitive to pressure, which I'm told will go away in 2-3 days. The rest of the staff at the office, including Dr. Shah's assistant and the front desk staff, were all incredibly pleasant and nice to deal with. Of course I hope you never need oral surgery, but if you do, I highly recomment you go see Dr. Shah. read more

"ROOT CANAL" are two words I hope you, my dear Yelp friends, never have to hear. I used to pride myself for having never had had one. To my teeth's credit, they held up pretty nicely during my years-long dental hiatus, save for number two, which had the nerve (get it!) to decay to the point of breaking, requiring the dreaded root canal. My dental hygienist saw the look on my face at the diagnosis and assured me I'd be fine. Apparently, root canals are not as bad as they used to be. "That's what they tell everyone," I thought to myself. I arrived on the big day to a nice, sparse, CLEAN office where the receptionists were watching soaps. I do not watch daytime TV, but I felt strangely comforted because they were. I don't know. One Life to Live reminds me of my nana, and suddenly I felt at ease. Everyone was nice and gentle, and like the dentist office preceeding, all the processes were explained in great detail with my x-rays serving as a visual guide. Sitting back, wearing solar shields, my mouth covered in blue latex and open wide for two hours is not my best look. But the folks here made me feel really comfortable. I could go into detail (suction! files!) but I'll spare you and just add that should you need a root canal, hope your dentist refers you here. read more

Wish that every dental/medical facility was as courteous, competent and clean as they are. Dr. Lin worked on two of my teeth so far and I have to go back for more treatment. I was a really difficult case since my fillings were done long time ago. The doctor split up my treatment in two or three sessions for each tooth. He's very patient and explains the procedures, the type of treatment and what am I supposed to expect when I get off the chair. He also explained the X-ray exposure - I got a lot of those done for him to see the progress. Most of the offices do not speak about that unless the female patient is pregnant. Another huge plus of this office is their staff. They are very respectful and know what they are doing. Mary at the front desk makes sure that you go at the appointment on time - you may not want to be late, otherwise would get a charge of $150. They follow up with their patients via email, which directs you to the portal. There is all of your medical history. Highly recommend - you should check with your dentist to see if they are within your health insurance's network. It can get pricey, if not. read more

As other reviews have noted, no one dreams of having a root canal procedure. I walked into my partial root canal appointment anxious and scared, based off what I thought I knew about the procedure. Dr. Lin and his team changed that. He informed me every step of the way, and always checked in to make sure I was at ease and felt no pain. I just left my second appointment with Dr. Lin and am happy to report zero pain. As I told Dr. Lin's assistant, I would rather have a root canal than another cavity filling. I saw Dr. Ken Lin for a root canal. The procedure itself went very well, took about 45 minutes from anesthetic to finish, and I didn't have any discomfort during or following the procedure. He presented the options of doing the procedure all at once or over two visits, and explained the pros and cons to each option clearly. His dental assistant and the office manager/receptionists at the front desk were very friendly and helpful as well. The office is clean, and has a nice lobby with good wifi. All in all, this was about the best experience that you can have if you need a root canal. Also, be sure to park at the Latimer Garage at 1510 Latimer, since TEC Endo fully validates parking there. read more

Wow was I amazed at the service I received at TEC Endodontics. The minute I arrived I was greeted by Mary the secretary and Dr. Shah's Assistant who was polite and calming. As I walked to Dr. Shah's office I was shocked as to how clean it was Everywhere! Dr. Shah was professional, gentle, calming and clear about what she was doing. I just wanted to add my vote to the wonderful reviews here. I met with Dr. Lin today for an evaluation of some troubling teeth issues. He spent a good 45 minutes with me evaluating my films and detailing all my options. He was able to assess that the two teeth other specialists thought I might need root canal for did not need it. I came with my own xrays, but he wanted to use his 3 D machine for greater detail and did not even charge me for that (usually an expensive scan). He was completely honest and ethical and most importantly very kind! I will definitely be going back to him if I have root canal needs in the future. read more

No one enjoys root canals but TEC Endodontics is the best if you need one. Last week I noticed some pain in a tooth that I had a previous root canal done on 10 years ago. I made an appt with TEC for the next day at 3:00 pm. The tooth pain progressed to agony by midnight so I was on the phone in the morning with TEC. I went to the office first thing in the morning and they squeezed me in about 10 minutes after I arrived! Dr. Shah skillfully took me through the procedure and soon I was feeling better. I usually don't 'like' the dentist, but this place was an exception. I was referred here by my dentist for a root canal I needed, and needless to say I was extremely anxious about it. The hygienist was very friendly and helpful, and made sure I was comfortable during painful xrays. Dr. James Hupp performed the root canal and he walked me through the entire procedure. His work was excellent throughout the whole root canal - I usually hate being numbed because of the needle, but he does it very slowly so that you barely feel any discomfort. Never thought I would 'enjoy' a numbing experience, but I am pretty sure this is as good as it gets without getting knocked out. The procedure was also painless and pretty comfortable. He was meticulous and they kept asking how I was doing throughout, to which I always gave an adamant thumbs up. Was a bit sore once the numbing wore off but that's to be expected. The front desk staff were also friendly and helpful. Hope I don't need any more root canals, but if I do I will come back here. **Everyone reviewing on here talks about Dr. Shah but Dr. Hupp was amazing as well. read more

I was in so much pain from a molar and in need of a emergent root canal. Dr. Lin is so very kind, great bedside manner, explained everything to me. The staff took me towards the end of the afternoon for evaluation & had root canal. I can't say enough great things on how the staff & Dr. Lin made me feel. An old root canal from ten years ago got compromised and I needed to have it re-done. I was extremely nervous as I really didn't enjoy the process the first time and those memories kept haunting me. The first time I went in for the evaluation I found the staff uber professional but also nice. The office is so comforting surprisingly. I was seen by Dr. Jakub Pelka who was everything I could ask for in a dentist. He listened and explained everything that was going to happen when I came back in. I felt very sure about my decision to come here after that evaluation. I went back in for an early morning appointment at 8:30 and was greeted by Thomasina, the assistant who was just great...she kept me smiling and distracted from the nerves. Dr. Pelka performed the procedure and let me tell you, it went so smoothly I actually dozed off for a bit LOL. I was done in about 1.5 hours and out of there with some soreness from keeping my mouth open that long but otherwise nothing. I will be going back in about two week to finish up the procedure but I really wish these folks could be by regular dentists as I felt so at ease there. Five stars! read more
