All of the workouts have been adjusted to my skill level and the trainers have given me the tools I need to reach my goals. The facility is great. Everything you would need (and more) in a gym. All in all, Crossfit is about community and Crossfit Grover breach is no exception. I highly recommend stopping by and getting to know the crew. You won't regret it!

I have been attending classes at Crossfit Grover Beach for over a year. I have certainly enjoyed…read moremy time at CFGB, especially after attending classes at the other local box, Obsidian Crossfit (would also rate them 4 out of 5). The atmosphere is a tad more laid-back than other crossfit gyms in the area. The owner personally trains the majority of classes, and is always available for, and receptive to, feedback. He has consistently added classes (or opened his gym early) when a demand rises from his clients. Crossfit Grover Beach (CFGB) has multiple trainers. Several of the trainers are former clients, who have received certification and now instruct, in addition to competing at an amateur level in local and national competition. These folks are supportive, helpful, and knowledgeable in fitness, nutrition, and general wellness. CFGB does earn a 4-star rating in my book, due to a negative performance in the 2013 Crossfit Open competition. The trainers did not pay close enough attention to the requirements for a complete movement, and their top athlete was disqualified from the open for this reason. That athlete has proven himself this year, and is on the road to redemption for the entire box' reputation. It was a simple thing, to look at the clarification in the rules, and ensure that all athletes met the requirement, but the company has taken steps to ensure better practices henceforth. :::Edit::: I don't know why my location is posted as "Hanford," I live in Oceano. That is all for this edit.

Well, All the owner (Craig) wants is money!!…read moreHe refused to let me workout or do a drop in to his crossfit class unless i purchased a package with nutritional information and an on ramp class for several classes that equal more than $500. Who can really afford this? Even though I have done crossfit for years and even coached crossfit in the past in our local community which I explained to him. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM! It does not emobodie the mission or focus of CrossFit and is obviously lacking inclusivity, community, or "fitness for all". I was not even allowed to drop in for payment. Shame. Very sad. Im suprised and actually disturbed by this experince. I do not recommend and upset that this is the crossfit experience offered to our local community

Eventually my wife also came and joined because, not only did Josh show personal interest in us but also in our son who at the time was only two. What has kept us going is the level of coaching Josh provides. He knows who needs that extra push and who needs to be held back a little for their own well being. I have made progress by leaps and bounds in strength and gymnastics. I highly recommend Crossfit Nipomo to those wanting to lose a few pounds, to those wanting to improve their quality of life and those seeking to take their Crossfit proficiency to a higher level.

Mike is a huge advocate for my success in my health and fitness goals. I have been "one on one" with his training and have also been in semiprivate groups as well as a group of 12 people. In every class I have been motivated and instructed as so to give me one of those, "I'm so glad I did that" work outs. Mike knows what he is doing, keeping my physical limitations (such as bad knees) in mind, by showing me how to do an exercise where it won't be a problem and still get in shape. I have never left with an injury, as I have with other trainers. His Boot Camp classes are fun and tough. They are also a very affordable way to get Mike as your trainer. And just a comment on the two negative reviews...well, IMHO, It sounds like "Mrs B" must of wanted something for nothing and is giving Mike at MZR her negative feed back as a stab in the back. "Anon Y." couldn't be any more wrong. Mike was elected as one of the top 3 trainers in the nation this year by the fitness industry!
