Was told birria bomb was also good but difficult to eat. Churros were filled with some sort of chocolate cream and were warm and fluffy, so delicious that we didn't even get a picture. The space itself is very minimal with limited seating. Self service. Nothing aesthetic but it is a Hispanic grocery market with a Taco place on the side.

Good enough for me to stop by here (a bit out of the way) three times in the last month. I've had the beef birria tacos, chicken curry tacos, carne asada, choriza, jerk chicken, and al pastor tacos, as well as the pupusas (pork and cheese, bean and cheese, and loroco and cheese). All were great! (Well, except the carne asada - this came out a bit dry and under-seasoned). Next time I go, I'll probably get the beef birria tacos again. The dipping broth is great. The third time I went, they were out of the al pastor pork. This is my one complaint: while they have a decent variety of proteins, they do not have either barbacoa or carnitas. The beef in the birria tacos is probably the match here for barbacoa, but I'd like that option without the broth and at the regular price. The two fellows that work the counter are very nice and helpful with the menu. I overheard one of them talking to another customer and he mentioned his father bought the place a few years ago. The customer said this lot used to be an old gas station in the 1980s and that there used to be a post office here, too. The parking might be tough during rush hour -- there's a handicapped spot right out front, and about 5 diagonal spots on the old auto garage side (these would be a pain to back out of if all filled). Otherwise, you're parking in the grass across the street, or in the lot on the other side of the intersection. I say the parking hazards are well worth the food, though!

The shelving in the middle of the store and the cold cases in the back have reasonably generic stuff, especially if you need good tortillas or cotija or something, and there's a bit of fresh produce off to the left by the kitchen. Stare at the menu for a minute, order at the little counter, and then wait a bit til they hand you your bag. I grabbed a cheap cuppa while I was there which is exactly the caffeinated comes-from-a-dispenser coffee it looked like, complete with powdered creamer, but it works. The tamales were also amazing- or so I hear, since i didn't get to eat any of them. Next time. The only issue I ran into at all, honestly, was getting someone to acknowledge I existed at the other register so I could pay for my tortillas and produce. It took... a while.

They gas station portion of the business is currently Exxon - but at some point not to long ago - it used to be a Valero. They pre-make their breakfast stuff and keep it in a warmer. Last time I was in - the warmer contained a couple of breakfast burritos, and one sausage, egg, and cheese on a Croissant. I asked if they do special orders - the response was yes. I ordered two breakfast sandwiches (all food/orders are to go - as there is no seating to eat in). The first sammie was bacon, egg, and cheese - on a croissant - with extra bacon and extra cheese; and the second sammie was sausage, egg, and cheese on a Croissant - with extra sausage and extra cheese. I also bought one of the pre-made breakfast burritos. After getting on the road - I was very hungry, so I tore into the Bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. It did have extra bacon - but the bacon was way overcooked. It basically was crumbling out of the sandwich.. I consumed the Sausage, egg, and cheese sammie later at home. I reheated it - and slightly charred the croissant in the toaster oven (it did not come that way). Tasty, but it did not have the extra cheese I requested. Ironically, the pre-made breakfast burrito from the warmer - was better than either of the breakfast sandwiches. It contained sausage, eggs, cheese, potatoes, onions, etc. I'll give them another try sometime soon - to see if they fare better. They weren't terrible - but they could have been better. The workers are extremely professional, and I would pick this establishment over common ones nearby. Now for the highlight...
