Last Sunday while dining with a relative, I was made aware of a place called Backwoods Burgers…read morelocated in Oakdale, CA. As this person knew what kinds of foods I liked, and had just dined there, it went to the top of my "let's go" list. As I happened, today my wife had the day off so away we went. Wow is all I can start with. From the moment another held the door for us, to the friendly greeting and smile of the young lady who waited on us at the counter to the decor and design inside and out, we immediately loved it. We found what we needed on the simple menu, accommodations from the git go, to even having a knife to cut our burgers in have (we rarely eat the whole thing right away). SOLID experience all around. Two burgers, sweet potato fries, fried zucchini and two ice teas was our meal. The burgers were tasty, the sides great, the staff on point start to finish, Ashley was our server and did an OUTSTANDING job all the way. We even had another customer hold the door on the way out. When I went to take a picture as we left, another fellow stopped so as not to walk into my shot. Wow again. If you love burgers, and are nearby, you need to try these folks' fare. You won't regret it.

I had always wanted to try it because it looked so inviting and I loved a good cheeseburger. We came with a party of 8 for my twin cousins birthdays and they were EXTREMELY nice and accommodating even though they do not take reservations they really helped us out to big tables together to include everyone and one of the servers with the long braid, forgot her name but gosh she was the SWEETEST and I love chatting with her! 10/10 service!! The food was absolutely delicious I noticed on the menu they sure has some GOOD lookin sandwiches but since it was my first time dining there, an their known for their burgers, I got the smashed cheeseburger which was SO good the cheese was delicately melted to perfection, I couldn't notice my cousin got the "mac and cheese burger" interesting choice but she had been there many times and swore on oh! Now the garlic fries and ranch? Those were spectacular! They even come out and sing happy birthday with banana pudding but we brought our own cake beverage it was such a big party. All and all it was DEElicious and I'd love to return to try their pesto chicken sandwich this place was perfection and made my cousins birthday dinner totally perfect!!!

First time in and I'll say this right away--this place lets you settle in…read more It's a country bar at its core, but not in a way that boxes you in. Pool tables, darts, TVs on, people hanging out... it feels like a spot that's been doing its thing for a while. About 50 people in the room when I was there, and it sat in that perfect middle--alive, but not chaotic. What stood out to me was the flow of the night. KJs Angie and Scotty ("The 2 Hotties") run a smooth rotation. No weird gaps, no rushing people, no favoritism vibes--just steady, fair, and easy to work with. That matters more than people think. It keeps the whole room relaxed, and you can feel it. Amy behind the bar was on it all night. Friendly, quick, and consistent even when things picked up. Drinks came out right, no attitude, just good energy. That kind of presence anchors a place. From a singer's standpoint, this is a good room: * Sound is workable * Crowd is open * You've got space to actually perform, not fight for attention It's not a "look at me" kind of bar--it's a "be yourself and let it land" kind of place. I came in new, no expectations, and left feeling like I could come back and build something here. That's always a good sign. I'll be back.

As we drove into the parking lot bright umber kumquats welcomed us to old world Italy. Thee bright eyed host graciously showed us to our table even though we were tardy to our reservation - we had travelled a great distance winding through backroads lined with orchards of apples and almonds. Offered the choice of dinning room or neon lighted gladiator hall - we chose the former and fell into our seats in view of the chefs and gallant servers. After a mere 10 minutes water appeared at our table in clean glasses with cube of ice. Promises of bread were made. As dawn turned more to dusk and the moon rose over the sierras and orchards, neither bread nor server came to fruition. After beckoning the cheese boy we were able to request arancini, salad, two glasses of crisp Chardonnay , and Sean's special. More dusk came... The wine and salad arrived and appeased our hangry souls. Never has a Caesar tasted so Kraft fresh and then came the ten rolls. I swear you could taste the thawck and pop of the pillsburry tube in every biscuit-y bite. The cheese boy generously offered heaping spoonfuls of brownish minced garlic to accompany we don't know what? Perplexed, we politely declined. Finally as trumpets sounded and the leaning tower leaned a bit more our Sean's special pasta arrived. Never since the fall of Rome has Italy suffered a greater insult. We could've for $3 more, ordered the vodka sauce instead of the pink tinted cream. There was no cheese boy to save us. The redeeming ray of light was the in-dinner entertainment of observing two awkward teenagers on their third ( maybe second ) date. Silence...screen time ...silence. It was beautiful to see them wild and free in their natural habitat. One night with you Firenze will fill our hearts for a lifetime. Love, D and R
