Excellent afternoon! The exhibits are wonderful, the compost experts are also wonderful and the compost toilet is even more excellent! They offer courses and programs as well. There are other exhibits at the centre; Prairie Pond, Honeybee Hive and the Tegler Discovery Zone. Great learning and fun activities for families. They also offer birthday parties! It's located right beside the Fort Edmonton Park so you can do both in one day! The parking lot is big and spacious.

They also liked checking out the reptiles on display as well as the pelts and skulls from a few former river valley residents. There were one or two birthday parties going on while we were there, with both outdoor and indoor spots for the celebrations. The renovations look like they are mostly done, but perhaps there is more to come in the months ahead.

I have a annual pass to this place to watch movies and enter exhibits. It's totally worthwhile because If you go during the weekdays you almost have the place to yourself or just before closing too. I like the space exhibit which actually has a peice of the moon on display. But there are tons of interactive games and puzzles that most adults play too (some are still challenging for me for the first time). There is a cool body exhibits to explore which is cool if it's your first time there to see how your body works and how healthy you are. There's also a giant play are in 2 parts of the center. One one main floor and second floor. So the kids have plenty of place sto burn off their excess energy. I could stare at the ball thing thatis ancient for hours bc that's what I used to do as child mesmerized by the journey that little ball takes. I would highly recommend watching the imax movies here because usually the only last 2 rows are sold out so there's alot of space in between people. Staff are friendly and there's alot of areas to just eat if you pack your own lunch. Annual members get a 10% discount which is really nice too! I personally think the roving exhibits are a perfect date night since there's alot to do or talk about. And situated in west downtown there's alot of good places to eat nearby. I think edmontons telus center is better than the over busy and crowded ones in vancouver or calgary. With alot more to do. I think edmontonians take this place for granted.

You know, that ink filled thing that they dab on the numbers of the bingo card. Well anyway, when my partner and I got to the cashier, we asked her what the most popular game(s) were, and told her that we wanted in on it. We also told her we wanted a machine, because the machine does pratically everything for you. All you need to do, is scream out "bingo", if you got one. They have these super cool and friendly volunteers roaming the room selling addtional cards for different games. We had no clue what they were, but they were only a buck a card, so why not? The only thing was, we needed daubers to play. So off I went to the cashier to buy a couple, and we were ready to begin! As one would expect, I messed up my card trying to focus on the machine and that darn dauber. Not forgetting to mention that I yelled out "bingo" when all my machine was trying to tell me was I needed one more number. Who knew that the flashing number meant that, that was the number I needed? Hahaha, we had a good laugh! My partner wanted to crawl under the table until everything was over. Lol! This bingo hall is super clean, and the restrooms were exceptionally well maintained. They do have a snack bar, but nothing worthy of writing about. As for the employees and volunteers? They were stellar! Very friendly, patient and helpful. Sure, I would much rather have had a Hudson Bay or Louis Vuitton bag in hand. But, how could I say "no" to the young woman? Her efforts (or mine) resulted in buy one get one coupon to the casino restaurants for me. The buffet didn't look appealing. So with my Dollarama bags in hand, we marched to the receptionist out front of Halley's Club. It was then that we learned that Halley's Club was a supper club and showcase theater with a live band. We were given a table on the second floor with a great view of the stage and singers. The food? We ordered a beef Wellington, a salmon, and a chicken Parmesan. I don't think we cared for any of the food we ordered. The beef was kind of tasteless. The Chicken sauce was acidic. My daughter didn't eat too much of it. The salmon was probably the best dish since the others were so bad. Service was good. I know my waitress saw my Dollarama bag. The snide comment about the Dollarama bag from the waitress never came. She did a great job keeping our cups filled, and cleared our dishes as needed. The music was okay. They had some lounge singers doing their thing, and they did it for about an hour before taking a break. I liked it even though I thought the food was bad. The Halley was a good experience for my family and I. I'm glad they let teenagers in there up till 10 PM. We liked watching the singers. If there is a next time, hopefully I am not wearing chanclas and holding onto a Dollarama bag. 4 stars for the experience.

Dressed to impress and starved to enjoy each bite, this Thursday girls night was going to get as rowdy as a Thursday can go. We headed out pretty late for dinner around 7:30, with the assumption being a weeknight we wouldn't need reservations. It didn't seem too busy once we got in, but we still got sat on the far end towards the washroom and directly in view of a pillar with the stage. The booth was huge so we managed to scooch over a little bit to all have a decent view of the side stage. White night Special Sangria - ($13) - Brownie points already because they had 3 different sangria's on and that all sounded oh-so very tantalizing. the white night was my choice and with the addition of white rum, this tasted super strong compared to the other choice but went down super easy. Pink Sangria - ($13) - A lighter flavor, with strong taste of peach. Really enjoyed this one and presentation wise, they made each glass look so classy and picturesque. Garlic Parmesan Fries - (7) - This was BOMB. But, biased review from me with anything /fries dressed with garlic and parm. I'd order this, again and again and again. Beef Wellington - ($29) My first wellington, ever. After being an avid Ramsay enthusiast. As soon as I saw it on the menu, I knew i needed to live out my boujie ways. Asked for medium rare and the delivered steak was moist and had the perfect chew. The steak sauce drizzled just enough added flavor to not take away from the steak. Steak Au Poivre - ($28) - Opted for medium done. I'm not even going to give my opinion on this but YES. She enjoyed it. Chicken Parmesan - ($26) - Had a few bites from this and I liked that the chicken still had a bit of its crispness, tomato sauce with the spaghetti also had a bold flavor which was nice carbs paired with the chicken. Summarizing my experience. Venue is amazing, service was super friendly and fast, we're wiser now to know to make a reservation if we do end up coming for dinner again. Food tasted awesome and presentation blew my socks off. Really great place for a nicer dinner and to feel a little more spoiled up. Looking in, you can really come in dressed up or casual. They had an open space and tables were just getting up in the middle of dinner to dance which was a great lively vibe. I took my mother to a Valentine's Date showing here the past weekend to see Valentine Train!…read more First of all, LOVED loved LOVED the theatre made to be a replica of the original. From the pictures on the walls to the vintage curtain to the the replica windows, it was like a movie set! I did find it a tad odd that we waited in the lobby for the doors to open until 810PM when the website had said show at 8PM but none the less it was great! The accoustics and visual inside was perfect and you were even allowed to bring in drinks or snacks purchased from the goody stand which included old fashioned favourites like flavoured candy sticks (think candy canes without the curve). The intermission was the perfect length of time. Seating was first come, first serve. The seats themselves were a little uncomfy - I'd like a modern update to the chairs perhaps :-) And let's not forget how cute it is driving into Fort Edmonton Park (my first time there if you can believe it!). Even though the park protion was closed, it was cute walking past the old fashioned shop fronts. There is a hotel there open year round called Hotel Selkirk which offers date night packages and dinner. It is a reconstruction of the 1920's hotel originally located on Jasper Avenue. Tonight I went to the Capitol Theatre, which is theatre in Fort Edmonton Park. It was completed…read morelast year (I believe) and made to look like the original Capitol Theatre that was in Edmonton in the 1920's. While Fort Edmonton Park is only open during seasonal months (May to October) and for special occasions the Capitol Theatre is open at various times throughout the year when the Capitol Theatre is putting on a production. I should say this is a live theatre (as in plays and musicals) but apparently during regular Fort Edmonton Park dates/times they show a historic movie about Edmonton called "Northern Lights" that's free with park admission. During the off-season when a production isn't on the theatre can be rented out for group functions, which would be kinda neat. The outside of the theatre, from the parking lot at least, looks like just another grey cement building. I have to admit that kinda saddened me. I mean the Hotel Selkirk is right next door, and looks very lovely with its brickwork. I don't know maybe the hotel Selkirk isn't made of real brick, but it looks real. The Capitol Theatre has a lovely front facade that looks like a theatre from the 1920's. A bright marquee, a lovely wood panelled box office, vintage movie posters. It totally sells the part. Except for the fact you turn your head two inches and you can see the rest of the building is an ugly grey cement box. It's a bit disappointing that no one sprung the little bit extra to make the whole building look nice. So the disappointing part out of the way, like I said the front of the theatre is very nice, and the inside is nice as well. The theatre is done up in an Art Deco style. The lobby has framed posters of the original theatre, and other historic theatres in Edmonton. Plus there are posters from some of the plays and movies that were originally shown around Edmonton. If you're like me and you love vintage movie posters it was a pretty cool thing. The actual theatre where the stage of was lovely. It sort of reminded me of the Cannon Theatre in Toronto. Definitely not the same size, but there was that same Art Deco kind of style. The theatre looked like it could hold a couple hundred people, so it's not too big. The seats just look like any seat you might see in a theatre, but they're actually quite comfortable for a theatre seat. Trust me. I love theatre, but I've been to shows where I start fidgeting after 20 minutes because the seats are so uncomfortable. The Capitol Theatre seats were very nice. I saw "The Next Chapter", a Neil Simon play about a widowed man and a divorced woman. It was kinda funny, kinda cute, lots of snappy dialogue (Neil Simon seems to write snappy dialogue well), a little more dramatic than I expected. But I enjoyed it. The theatre was maybe half full, but to be honest I completely forgot that Fort Edmonton Park had a theatre until I was doing research for a school project. The price is very reasonable. Students (with ID) and seniors get tickets for $20, a regular adult admission is $28. The play I saw wasn't appropriate for the under 12 crowd so I don't know how much a regular kids ticket would cost. I do know that they will put on kids shows, because they're going to do The Velveteen Rabbit in December. The theatre is very nice (except the back part outside). The show was good (although live theatre can vary), and the ticket price was reasonable. Another bonus to seeing a show at the Capitol Theatre is getting to see part of Fort Edmonton Park in the evening, after a snow fall. It was quiet and quite pretty.

REVIEW UPDATE So we…read moreare now in our 2nd year at Dance Co. and could not be any happier! My daughter did 2 full year long classes last year, attended the summer camp including a pizza party and sleepover, and now both my daughter and son are enrolled again in year long classes. Our experiences at Dance Co have been phenomenal! The quality of instruction and teachers has been top notch, the facility is wonderful, and the staff always friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like so much last year was the end of year format for recital time ended up requiring that we purchase tickets to two separate show times and it's through ticket master so you end up paying surcharges on the tickets so they ended up being about $15 each which for a family with grandparents, siblings, and 2 shows to attend ends up being more than a $150. I'm not sure how they could rectify this other than maybe only selling tickets through them and then not having the ticket master surcharge which adds up being close to $40 when you are buying 8 tickets (4 tix for 2 show times). One thing Dance Co. does to help support families with multiple dancers or a dancer that takes a lot of classes, is you pay by the number of hours taught per week. So each subsequent class costs slightly less per hour than the previous class in any given year. And this is the case that swayed me into signing my 3 year old son up for preschool dance this year because his sister is already taking 2 full one hour weekly classes, so why not add on a half hour preschool class on the same night as his big sis? Dance Co. also has a little consignment section which is great for picking up a second hand pair of taps or ballet shoes for your chitlin. They also offer a preschool program that always fills up and looks just marvellous (as I peek through the window). I foresee a long relationship with Dance Co. Two thumbs WAY UP! Oh and don't forget to attend their summer customer appreciation day with a free BBQ, bouncy castle, face painting, trial classes, and draws!

Dance camps anyone? We were lucky to get to try out 2 different camps put on by dance co. One last…read moresummer which was a mermaid theme and over the spring break this year as well. You can really see the instructors enjoy what they were doing. My little can be a bit shy and it was so cool to see her open up and start moving and grooving with the others. A big part of my rating is also based on how well the pivoted during the changes in protocols ect. We always felt well informed and were given tons of options. They do offer a ton of competitive and recreational dancing as well which we are excited to try in the fall, but I definitely can recommend the summer camps. So fun for the kids!

Had a fun time here at the rodeo last weekend…read more I'm not really a rodeo gal, but I did still enjoy myself. I had a delicious fresh-squeezed lemonade and a great plate of smokies and perogies with sour cream. I don't have children but I think this would be a fun family outing. They had rides, a dog show, and of course the rodeo. I think it was around $15-20 per person for entry but there was a family rate of I think about $40. Bring extra money for food and tickets.

Its smaller, but there is still much charm to be enjoyed. I would have liked to see more food variety and perhaps more shopping tents but all in all we had a good a time. Great place to bring the kids, but make sure you go on a nice day because there is no where to hide if it starts raining. There was zero parking, so we walked about a half a KM from the industrial side of st Albert, but we didn't have to pay for it! The rodeo took center stage, and the Circus was very good too! Yes. Circus. I will go again next year im sure.

I asked for top shelf bourbon and got served a lousy sour mash. Sent it back just to get a song and dance from the bartender that he forgot to add bitters, that's why it's so sour. Total BS. The duelling pianos are missing keys. The only thing to recommend this place is a good big screen projection to watch the game. The Bourbon Room is on it's way out, not worth stopping by to witness it.
