So I have been going to Crochet for 6 years, off and on for different issues. I received excellent care for a wrist issue and some herniated discs. I tried a different physical therapist recently as they don't take my current insurance, but I'm thinking about paying cash and just coming back as I'm not getting nearly the quality of care I get at Crochet. The heat, stem, and ultrasound before exercise followed by ice and stem afterwards really make the difference. The focus on reducing your inflammation so you can get back to your normal activities is so much more impactful than exercises alone. read more

I think the other review of this place is out of line. Considering the other reviewer has done 4 yelp reviews and all of them are One Star, I question the validity of the other review. Anyways I have been a patient of Crochets for over 20 years and think of them like family. I started seeing them when I was 17 and in High School. I moved out of Atlanta in 2002 and still go back to him for my Orthotics. When my father was rear ended by a DUI driver , Crochet handled his care and made him stronger. Don and his Staff are the Best. I have been a Patient of Crochet at least three times before my most resent event which lasted almost a year before and after my full left knee replacement. Going through correct Physical Therapy is not easy. Some people expect you go to get a nice massage and pampered. Absolutely not the case at Crochet. You Work at It. Don and his Top Staff establish Goals from the very beginning based on the Prescription from your Orthopedic Surgeon. Those goals are reviewed each week. You receive a lot of "Hands On" Physical Therapy, not just simply Don or a Tech pointing to a machine or a station and are left on your own. During your visits, you receive constant reinforcement from the staff. The scheduling of your appointments is always done correctly and the handling of your Insurance Claims are done also correctly so you will not receive any surprise bills. I had a great experience at Crochet Physical Therapy, going 12 weeks for therapy after a total knee replacement. The entire staff was attentive, friendly and professional. I never waited more than 2 minutes in the waiting room, they put up with me reading the newspaper during the hydro-therapy and electrical stimulation portion. They were very encouraging and used humor if they thought I was not working my hardest. I loved the staff and client interaction and appreciated their advice surrounding the knee rehab (scar tape I could use, using my home gym to accomplish the ​same goals). Don listened to my concerns, continually assessed my progress and always asked if there was any pre-surgery activity that we needed to aim for, to accomplish total rehabilitation. They even called one day when I goofed on what day I had scheduled and got me in within a half an hour, with no scolding Every person on staff knows the clients by name. I loved the music there which provided time travel to my high school years twice a week! read more

After being diagnosed with spinal stenosis and sciatica (at a rather crippling level) I went to Crochet twice a week for about 3 months. I would not said that Mr. Crochet guaranteed me a full recovery, but he seemed pretty damned sure I would be pain free after about a month. I followed his instructions faithfully for what I was to do at home (heat, exercises, and ice twice a day for about a total of 2.5 hours each day). At first I felt I was making some progress and he stepped up what I did at his office. Then I got no better and sometimes even worse (as an interesting side note, my fairly fit wife did some of the exercise regime right along with me only to get such bad back aches that she stopped!) After having a 2nd epidural (steroid injection in my spine) my orthopedic doctor told me that it was his opinion was that physical therapy was actually making me worse and to stop it. When I told the doctor what Crochet had been advising me (things only an actual doctor has the expertise to do), he wasn't impressed, to say the least. I called Crochet to announce that I was suspending my program with him. He was cautiously diplomatic, but then started to tell me specific surgeons I should see. Since I stopped seeing Crochet I am improved a good bit. I want to be objective here. Perhaps Crochet is helpful to some people. In my case, he was not helpful and I found him to lack certain qualities I would have liked and even expected. Evidently, he does not listen well -- he asked many of the same questions each time I saw him. He speaks so fast and without emphasis that he is sometimes hard to understand. His empathetic skills are lacking -- At one visit I announced the had been experiencing vertigo which had impeded my doing the usual number of exercises at home for the past week and his response about how I couldn't let anything get in my way reminded me of a drill sergeant's bark and lack of respect. I feel that he had a sort of one-size-its-all approach to psychical therapy, and again maybe it works for some. But I am guessing it is due to a sort of conservative and inflexible manner of thinking and working with people. On the other hand, years ago I went to a different physical therapist for a rotator cup injury. Not only did that physical therapist help cure the problem completely, she was much more pleasant to work with. Since going to Crochet, I continue to get bills that I should not be getting. Every time I went I paid the required co-pay. I was never advised if he provided services that my insurance wouldn't cover. But I continue to get bills with no itemization despite having sent letters asking for explanation. I don't know that Crochet is the worst (again, maybe some people like him and his staff, who admittedly are pretty nice), but there are many physical therapists to choose from in the Atlanta area (including those with doctorates) so I would advise looking elsewhere. read more

Very Poor Choice. The location was very close to my home so I called Crochet Physical Therapy as well as some other PT's in the area. Fortunately there are several to choose from. This was the only place that could see me right away. In retrospect, that should have been a red flag. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment as requested and witnessed a tirade by Mr Crotchet directed at his staff that was downright psychotic. At first I considered just leaving, but after seeing me, Mr. Crochet threatened me that "he would come after me for payment on a canceled appointment." There was a small timid shell-shocked woman at the counter that looked like she had been crying. Poor thing. The man was shouting, using profanity, and seemed out of control. I can't speak for their services because I did leave, and was not charged BTW. Mr. Crotchet... seek therapy. read more
