The wine at Crittenden is rather delicious. There's a leaning towards dryer Italian and Spanish varietals that would be exceptional with food, which can make tasting a little difficult because these would be far more delicious styles if you could have a little cheese or bread to nibble while trying them. Indeed, we took a bottle of the Tributo away with us to have with lunch and I enjoyed it even more interspersed with bread, olives, olive oil and anchovies.
The cellar door experience is relaxed and friendly. Try a few styles and then visit the restaurant or sit outside during the day with a cheese plate and a bottle of your favourite. There's also jars of jams, chutney and the like to take home.
Pro tip: check out the wine already chilled in the fridge for take-away picnic options. There may even be tins of ortiz anchovies in there. Buy some. read more
