Tipico Salvadoreno with steak, Pupusas Revueltas (with slaw & salsa), Salvadorian Breakfast Burrito (comes with chips & salsa)
    Christina Y.

I noticed Cristian Latin when walking to Ball Square and the pupusas caught my eye. I saw the Boston Globe article where owner Julio Pleitez recommended the breakfast foods, so we ordered the Salvadorian Breakfast Burrito (eggs, beans, cheese, cream, tomatoes), Tipico Salvadoreño (scrambled eggs, beans, queso fresco, sour cream, avocado, plantain, handmade tortillas) with steak, and Pupusas Revueltas (pork, bean, cheese). Personally, my favorite was the pupusa. I liked how the cabbage slaw and salsa brightened up the pork and beans. It was very filling, and a great deal at $3. The photo isn't great but thought it might help Yelpers.

It was sold and bought by someone else. The menu changed and the food is not as good. Sad about this one as I really liked the old place.

Foods great, owner is even better! Her service is always above and beyond. You also cannot beat the prices. 10/10 recommend.

The Tajin Elote is a total flavor bomb; it was so delicious that we had to order an extra one to take home! The true highlight of the evening was the Enchiladas with Salsa Verde and Mole. I opted for the Soy Tinga option, and the combination of flavors and textures was amazing! I really appreciate that the vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options are not an afterthought for them. They taste just as authentic and high quality as the traditional dishes. The bar is extensive, and they offer many high end tequilas/mezcal, and craft cocktails. My Mezcal Paradise cocktail was perfectly balanced. The 4 Leches Cake was rich and creamy; it melts in your mouth! The restaurant has a vibrant and cozy atmosphere, with bright colors to match the lively Latin American theme. They are open late, making it a popular late-night spot. I highly recommend Meatless Mondays, and I can't wait to come back and try more of their vegetarian soy options!

Thank you, Muqueca, for warming me up…read more Fish with Shrimp Moqueca: Made in the Capixaba recipe, this version replaced red palm oil and coconut milkthem with tomatoes--which happened to be my favorite. The broth was warm, flavorful, and refreshing. The initial notes are the sweetness of onions and bell peppers, followed by the delicate aroma of cilantro, leaving a clean taste impression. The whitefish fillets are tender and flavorful, yet still retain a subtle chewiness. The Pirão sauce, made with the fish broth and tapioca starch, was rich and thick, enhancing both the saltiness and umami, even reminiscent of Cantonese style abalone sauce. The two flavors were distinct yet complementary, a true delight with rice--though fresh, higher-quality Thai jasmine rice would be better. The earthenware pot, bearing the marks of time, kept the food warm; the portion was also very generous, perfect for sharing. I ended up taking some home for a second meal. Flan: Although I was quite full, the deliciousness of the moqueca piqued my interest in trying dessert. The pudding had a smooth and delicate texture, unlike the often sticky flaky texture of supermarket flans. The egg flavor wasn't strong, while the caramel syrup was rich and smooth, with an irresistible initial bitterness followed by a delightful sweetness. Plus, the syrup was generous, making it wonderful to coat every slice of cake in it. No wonder it's their signature dessert. Hot Sauce: The homemade hot sauce was highly recommended by my server. It didn't look very spicy, but it was far beyond my tolerance. However, I must admit it was incredibly delicious, with a refreshing citrus flavor and a smooth, emulsified texture alongside the spiciness, creating a very rich flavor profile. Being unable to handle spice is a real shame in its presence. The server's movements were elegant, the service attentive, the pace comfortable, and he satisfied some of my curiosity as a cuisine lover.

Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting Gustazo Cuban Kitchen in Cambridge for the first time, and it was an exceptional experience. Our server, Sandeep, was delightful and provided excellent suggestions and recommendations. We began with three small plates: Croquetas de Jamón, Garbanzos con Espinaca (a Spanish-style dish with chickpeas and spinach in a smoky almond sofrito), and Tortilla Española (a traditional Spanish egg frittata with layered potatoes and caramelized onions). Each dish was incredibly delicious. We also sampled the Congrí Rice & Beans to see if it would be suitable for our holiday catering needs, and it exceeded our expectations. For our main course, we enjoyed the Ropa Vieja, served traditionally with white rice, black beans, and maduros. We ended with a delicious flan to share. Having dined at many Cuban and Spanish restaurants in Massachusetts, we can confidently say that Gustazo is the most authentic Cuban restaurant we've experienced. The flavors were truly delightful. Highly Recommended! Ray & Luisa Gonzalez

Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations throughout the meal. We tried a few different dishes and honestly loved everything. The standouts were definitely the mussels and the ribs. The mussels were huge, fresh, and packed with flavor, while the ribs were coated in a tangy-sweet sauce and literally fell right off the bone. Would absolutely come back to try more of the menu!
