The cones are delicious and sweet with soft doughy insides, on purpose. If you don't know that the interior of the cones are soft it can be disappointing I found my experience to be excellent. Taylor was helpful and was great in explaining how the cones worked. I heard her looking after other customers as they came in. She was alone behind the counter and she was great at taking her time taking care of people. As for the design of the store, simple and easy layout with the black and white, comfortable. The service was great, it was fairly busy and there were only two kids working and they were working hard to get all the orders out in a timely manner. Luckily we had coupons. I ordered a cup of ice cream. It was a small cup and the regular price is $4.69. I ordered vanilla/chocolate swirl. There was more chocolate than vanilla, and the chocolate was too strong. We also ordered the fruit filled cone. First, the cone was crispy on the outside and doughy (not done) on the inside. There was a tiny bit of fruit, a little whipped cream, and a tiny bit of caramel sauce on the top. That was regularly priced at $6.69. So not worth it. The cones are dipped in cinnamon and sugar, which I would definitely not want on ice cream. I asked if I could get a plain cone and they said no. They bake them, roll them in the sugar and cinnamon, then bake it again, so there is no reason a customer couldn't get a plain cone. The ice cream isn't any better than Dairy Queen or any other soft serve. In addition, the orders were not filled in the order they were placed, and they got the names wrong on our order, as well as the previous order. The business owner responded with a few facts and they're accurate enough- you typically do have to have some salt in pastry dough, and I'm sure some salt was involved somewhere in the making of these pastry cones (I keep wondering why they didn't just name the place Pastry Cones?). I did not mean to infer that the price of the small cup of ice cream was the same as the cone. It did seem like (with tax) the cone came close to $10, but I stand corrected: $8-something is much more appropriate. Such a massive difference, I should have been more accurate. I don't see how a maple or other flavored pastry is any better than cinnamon sugar, as far as it affecting the flavor of your ice cream, but I did see a second special cone flavor on the board when we were there. After thinking about it, I think it was a matter of marketing- I wasn't expecting to walk in to a place that was more about misc toppings than some good ice cream flavors and selection (although the soft serve is tasty). I think something that communicates it's all about the toppings and showcasing that it's just soft serve and toppings (involving an enticing display of said toppings- like frozen yogurt shops do) could go a long way- marketing that's bubbly and fun.
