Functional, overhead fluorescent lighting kind of vibe. You don't need more when the food is this good. Lots of appealing options on the menu, too many for one visit. We got ramen and some particularly impressive egg rolls. Even the bathroom was humble, but nice. What would I change? All the tableware was disposable, the operation seems almost entirely geared toward carry out. I mostly get why, but it doesn't seem ideal. We enjoyed our meal and our glimpse into a local favorite. It's clear there's a lot of love that has gone into building this place. Looking forward to stopping through again next time we're in the neighborhood.

To the great, amazing folks of Wichita --…read more I am writing this letter to inform you that there is something very special RIGHT HERE in your backyard -- and you may not even be aware of it. KyuRamen is not your average ordinary ramen house. This restaurant went above and beyond to bring you an extravagant and authentic Japanese experience. You don't have to leave the comfort zone of Wichita, nor do you have to speak Japanese to experience this! The interior design of this restaurant is absolutely stunning and they offer a transcendental experience with scrupulous detail. The ramen tastes amazing, appetizers are great and most importantly, you'll be snapping pictures the minute you enter. Do not sleep on this place. PLEASE! Signed, your brother from California (LA/SF). You guys literally have one of the most impressive ramen houses I have EVER walked into. And that's over 40 years of life in LA's Little Tokyo, San Francisco, and vacations in Japan and South Korea. In Kansas of all places!?? How spoiled you are.

The rice was cooked to perfection. The honey sauce is a bit too sweet. It could use something to break it up. Maybe something citrus? My only recommendation is if they broke up the walnuts. Would be nice to have a crunch on each bite. I ordered it with a drink and it came out to $16. I'll have to come back and try a few other things on their menu. The entrance has an automatic sliding door. Interesting never seen it for a restaurant. The order is a walk up and order and they bring out the food to you.

"Plastic found in my dish"…read more I came here to try the cơm hến, but the experience didn't go well. While mixing my bowl, I found a piece of plastic inside the food. This is a serious hygiene issue and really shouldn't happen at any restaurant. I told the staff and they did replace the dish, which I appreciate. However, after seeing plastic in my food, I couldn't enjoy the new bowl anymore. The trust was already gone. I hope the restaurant improves their food handling and quality control. Even though they replaced my dish, this experience makes me hesitant to come back.

As a heads up, the deviled chicken has a kick to it, and even the veggie rice has a little bit of heat.. I would guess that the white rice would be milder. I was able to try a sample of the curry chicken, and it was a much milder flavor. All of it was quite good though, and I will definitely go back.

We had two bowls: the first one was beef on a bed of vegetable fried rice with two sides of eggplant and green beans; the second one was chicken curry on a bed of ghee rice with two sides of tempered potatoes and daal (lentils) -- both bowls were truly tasty -- and rather different from the usual Asian flavors we're commonly used to. We also had a rice paper like bowl, almost like a tortilla shell that came with a bowl of chicken curry and a condiment of pickled onion, which was also good. The ambience was neat and clean, and the service was top notch. No clue why they rented such a huge space! No complaints, only compliments -- thankful Wichita had landed another unique destination for food lovers.

One bite of this egg + bulgogi + cheese dog and I'm instantly 24 again, stumbling out of a pojangmacha in Dongducheon at 3 a.m. after too many soju bombs with the boys. The egg is fluffy and steamed just right, the beef is juicy and caramelized like real Korean street bulgogi, and that melted cheese pulls everything together exactly the way it did outside the gates. The hot dog bun is toasted crisp on the outside, soft inside - perfect food Extra points for the little garlic-mayo drizzle and the sprinkle of green onion on top... chef's kiss.
