Recently I was shopping Sonim PTT phones. I looked at the new Sonim XP8 which is an android touch screen with a walkie-talkie button on the side. I asked how much it was but was told that unless I was a verified first responder that they could not tell me the price or give me any information on it. Additionally they said the phone only operated on at&t's FirstNet responder network. I left laughing with my Sonim XP6 in hand calling at&t on speaker and asked them about this, they told me the phone was an android phone and could be purchased by anyone and worked well on at&t's regular network. I lodged a complaint with the store manager about the sales person and was asked to leave and not come back unless I was a first responder. I guess being on a fire department does not qualify for being a first responder I said as I walked away. This location is only a franchise store and not owned by the at&t corporation. Don't waste your time being insulted here.
